    Some more notes: This whiskey was blended by a well regarded scotch distiller/blender, Bill Lumsden, who has done work for Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. Also, the mashbill for this product is only rye and Malted barley, 51% Rye 49% Malted Barley. So it's not going to taste like a standard MGP mashbill. The finish is PX Sherry casks.

    • @skraegorn7317
      @skraegorn7317 Месяц назад +2

      51 rye/49 malt used to be a mash bill MGP offered, though it wasn’t very popular and didn’t taste much like the 95/5 mash bill. I’m not sure if they still offer it or if it’s been discontinued.

    • @steveno7058
      @steveno7058 Месяц назад +8

      @skraegorn7317 Месяц назад +2

      @@steveno7058 the problem with Templeton was more that they lied about their product being distilled in Iowa and being an old recipe from Prohibition that Al Capone liked, neither of those was true since it was MGP rye.

      I was interested when I heard of the mashbill, as I like to try unusual mashbills, but then when I saw that it was very low strength and had no age statement, I was a lot less interested. If it turns up at a bar, I might try it out of morbid curiosity, but I won't be buying a bottle. I will have to keep an eye out for other products that have used this mashbill - maybe someone else has done a better job with it. Most celebrity booze is a ripoff, unfortunately.

    I bought this bottle at my local BevMo based on the recommendation of one of the staffers who purchased and said there was more to it than the name. I am not a Beyoncé fan lol and actually her name being on it makes me not want to buy it. Before giving the bottle a final decision I waited till the bottle was past the shoulders. I will say there is a pleasant taste for me on the finish. It’s sort of a creamy vanilla creme brûlée that I personally enjoy in my whiskey. I won’t buy a second bottle unless the price goes under 40. There are too many great bottles at this price point that this cannot compete with. Guys, I thought I told you how to read a label to see where it was distilled. If it is Canadian it has to have an import statement on the label. Also Canadian whiskey is more generic than US whiskey. For example, a "Rye" whiskey from Canada only needs to be "cereal grain" it does not need to be rye! If it is MGP it needs to state "Distilled in Indiana" on the label. I doubt that Beyonce knows good from not good.

    Is it bad, or do you just not like it? I'm trying to get a good distinction between the two because current reviews (by those not in the fanbase that is) are not concluding that it's unanimously bad.

    I had read somewhere that Bradshaw’s whiskey was contract distilled by Green River. They do many contract distilled spirits.

    I got a Bob Dylan Heaven's Door "Decade Series" ... it is a ten year old 95/5 rye distilled in Indiana, so pretty obviously a MGP rye. For $48, I think its a bargain. The bourbon tastes like foot, though.

    I saw four boxes of this come in at the total wine, and knew i would never touch it before a review. Won't be getting it. Long branch and Traveler whiskey are good for what they are in the $30 ish range, and Kurt is right, Traveler is definitely boring but this bottle is nearly $90. Traveler or Longbranch I don't mind having on the shelf for the story with friends, given the price of them.

    The only celebrity whiskey I've enjoyed was Longbranch.

    Almost wonder if it being a celebrity whiskey paints their review because I feel lots of reviewers find out its a celebrity whiskey and then write it off mentally before trying it. There are some "celebrity" whiskies that are good.

    Finally was able to get the Star Trek Bourbon 5th batch. It would be cool to see a comparison review with others to hear what you could think it’s mostly close enough n flavor with or a blind test too. lol

    I have the Bradshaw bourbon and rye available in my area. If you’re interested the Bradshaw Rye actually started my journey into rye . I wasn’t a rye fan and I was given a pour of Bradshaw rye and that started my journey. I didn’t wanna like it because I really dislike Terry Bradshaw.

    It could be the 51% rye / 49% malted barley that isn't jiving with their palettes. I haven't had this whiskey, nor do I plan to buy it, so I can't give any tasting notes. It would be interesting if they compared it to other whiskeys with this mashbill, like Smoke Wagon Malted Rye or Rossville Union BiB.
