Sigh. I really don't understand why people shoot off fireworks... especially on Halloween. When I was a kid, the only time there were fireworks was the July 4th weekend here in the U.S. (and that was at a time when people actually still liked living here). Now they do it for New Year's and God knows what. My mom used to say that back in the Depression, when it struck midnight on New Years, they would bang pots with spoons. Now THAT's a safe way to celebrate. Fortunately, no children came around for Holloween this year... or last year... or the year before. I live in the darkest corner of a small dark complex and kids generally don't come in here. Hurray! Saved me a boatload of money. The prices for bags of candy at Walmart are ridiculous. Your outdoor pictures, Steph, always make me want to go back to Ireland. I do still miss it and the pictures bring back the feel, even though Ireland wasn't nearly as fancy in the 1970's and 1980's. Maybe I'll arrange between this life and the next one to reincarnate there... if it doesn't end up under water with the global climate change. I think I'd like to grow up in Cork City in my next life. I'd want to be a good bit above street level, though. I see it's flooded a few times in the past few years.
yeah I wouldn’t say fireworks ever had a strong appeal to me but have diminished the older I get too 😆….. the Halloween candy can get pricey!! And in Ireland they don’t come out with Halloween candy like they do in the states (like the large bags of minis and variety) so it’s even more costly here 😐 it is fun to give out tho. Oh goodness yeah I think Cork got crazyyyyy floods recently!! Like very bad! But yeah cork and the west of Ireland up to Donegal, there’s no shortage of beauty!!! Well there’s beauty all parts really….. don’t tell anyone but sometimes I find myself regretting staying in Dub and wishing we moved to a part of Ireland like Donegal or maybe Galway 😆 maybe one day! ✨
