I think I was mistaken about this video being a “how-to” bead a hat. It’s obviously just us watching someone doing it from where we can’t see it. Too bad because she’s doing a great job.

Thank you for the tutorial on this beautiful and unique hat. Are the beads, charlottes, Czech beads, faceted glass beads, true cuts
in size 11? They're very reflective. In jewelry beading I use 8 lb. Fireline, a Berkley fishing line, relabeled for beading. It does need waxing in my opinion, though Bronzepony you tube correctly states that it should not be scraped when removing beads, etc., to preserve the line or thread. It comes in other lbs., like 6 lbs. and 4 lbs. which are not so strong and which are smaller for smaller beading needles. I use a size 10 beading needle whenever possible, which I purchase in variety size packs of 9 for about a dollar at Walmart. Very beautiful hat and such a beautiful French Manicure! Thank you.

Here I was looking for info on beaded hatbands, and BAM! You took it all the way and beaded the HAT! Genius! If the brim edge is completely beaded, does it increase the weight of the a lot? I would imagine you need a very stiff brim to do this. Just lovely!

I've never beaded before, but after watching your video, I want to learn to bead the brim instead. What is the wax? You use for the thread.. and why?

    • @NativeMomwithaVlog

The bees wax helps condition the thread to help it last longer. Also it helps let it lay nice and straight. If that makes sense.

I like how you begin the tutorial with just working, then you give some explanation. What size wool felt is that hat? I have a 200g wool felt hat that I want to bead. What size needle do you use? I was told to use a T-needle first; some tutorials on the web say an awl is best. I like your technique better than what else I've seen. What is the best line to use, in your opinion, size 0? Those are size 11 beads, yes?
