    Some great comments and cheers for the review, the sherry casks blended into Vinaya are 100% aged in sherry, no flash finishing here. Nick has worked hard on the balance, and we are very happy with the result. Free delivery is a special for the launch of Vinaya but it's always free delivery for £60+ too! The RRP for Vinaya will be £50 everywhere good whisky is found... 🥃

      Thanks again for getting in touch! I think the full term sherry maturation really shows. And you're right to be happy with the result. I actually think that the sherry influence on this one is pretty unique and works *very* well. Any chance that we can press you for some details on the ages of the casks that you used? ;) at least for this first batch? Maybe the balance of sherry to bourbon and type of sherry too? Great to hear about the free shipping over £60. Takes the pain out of buying online when you only want 1 or 2 things. Will use again. Cheers!

      @@artificial-frequencies a great haul - cheers! The problem with age statements for 'non-anoraks' is that the assumption is (incorrectly) made that every drop is the youngest age stated and the complaints come flooding in about price mostly. Age is but one way to judge the character of a whisky, and many consumers directly correlate age to price expectations, when there is much more to the story than that. The other issue is that the youngest age will change over the years, and we run into issues if we try and change the packaging in our distribution network - an NAS allows us to continue with the product over the years - unlike our limited release age statements. Look out for a new 'young' age statement from Bladnoch in the coming years though.

      Thanks Anthony! I'm sure it wont be too long before it arrives over there. Most distilleries seem to look after you guys well ;) sometimes better than the home UK market! Just hoping you get a fair price. Cheers!

    Fantastic review mate. I have the Samsara and the 10yr old. I think you have inspired me to review them soon😁

      Thanks Andrew! I absolutely recommend the 10yo if you're trying to decide which to open first. In fact I might buy another bottle before it disappears completely! Cheers.

    Great review, yes i think they said its from a mix of old and new casks hence why they cant age it. This release unlike the other releases js not limited. The 10 is hard to get now, so i think they want to push it out with the shipping offer, i have 1 on the way.

      Hi Mike. Thanks for watching. You know... I didnt even realise that this isn't a limited release. If the quality is kept the same as this first batch then that's great.
      Most whiskies are a mix of new and old casks. Even age statement single malts which take the age of the youngest component when it comes to the label. As you probably know! I can understand that if it's 90% 15yo and 10% 3yo (for some reason...) then they wouldn't want to call it a 3yo. But I really like when a distillery is honest and brave enough to slap a young age statement on something and roll with it. Like the Ardbeg Wee Beastie 5yo.
      It's really not a serious complaint though as they've done a cracking job with Vinaya and I'd definitely buy it again. Cheers!

      Absolutely right - this one is 'Classic Collection' now, not 'Limited Release'. Our Aged statements will be very limited, Vinaya joins Samsara now in the Classic Range.

    I assume this is a vatting of spirit distilled by the new owners at circa four years old, and older stocks inherited from the Raymond Armstrong era. There's no way a very young whisky would be that dark without a decent amount of older casks in the mix.

    • @WhiskyLock
      @WhiskyLock  Год назад +3

      It doesn't taste like there's too much really young stuff to me but you're probably right that it's a multi age vatting from both eras. Definitely some very active casks in there too.
