I'm pretty sure the issue we have is with the conditions the sheep must endure on the ship, but this video doesn't elaborate on the ships conditions? Agricultural Propaganda! Who knew!
Great effort by Al Mawashi SA at creating a video based on their perspective. Even if that perspective is one that exacerbates animal cruelty. We have that right!
I have one issue with this live export.
I currently understand that the exportation of these sheep is being portrayed as that they will be humanely slaughtered in the Middle East for consumption.
Despite this, there is growing evidence that a small portion of the ewes and lambs are being retained for Breeding Purposes.
Say that 5% of the animals exported are retained every year. These animals will replace themselves so after 20 years, there will now be a flock of breeding ewes large enough to produce the amount of animals that are currently being exported from the Eastern Cape. Will Al Mawashi continue to export now that they have setup their own breeding flock? Does the export permit indicate that animals can be used, and if not Al Mawashi and the DRDAR are contravening the following laws.
In reference to the Animal Improvement Act of 1998.
Exportation of animals and genetic material of landrace17.(1)
No person shall export from the Republic an animal or genetic material of a landrace unless such exportation has been authorised by the registrar in writing.
    (2) The provisions of section 16(4), (5), (6), (7) and (8) shall mutatis mutandis apply for the purposes of this section.
Remember, Corruption has seeped into every fabric of our society. The quick-issuing of changing permits by the Department is all the evidence needed to indicate Al Mawashi is incentivising this process to fill their pockets. Remember, this is about the rural communities who can benefit from this deal! Thats why more than 70% of the animals being exported come from a commercial setting!

Update as at 18 Feb 2022 on NSPCA Facebook page
NSPCA Celebrates Victory For Sheep Against Live Export By Sea!
Today, Al Mawashi announced that it has not received an order from Kuwait to continue exporting live animals by sea from South Africa to the Middle East. Going forward, shipments will rather take place from Australia.
Al Mawashi blamed and slandered a number of its stakeholders for its decision to move offshore, this includes Transnet, the SA meat industry and the Department of Agriculture - with reference to them ‘dragging their feet’ in terms of their guidelines for the transportation of live animals by sea being incomplete.
In its statement, Al Mawashi included its losses to the tune of R49 000 000 solely as a result of the NSPCAs relentless will to protect our animals from being exported to the Middle East on board their vessels.
Part B of the NSPCAs application to completely ban the live export of animals by sea from South Africa is still set to be heard in court later this year.
“Since 2019 the NSPCA has fought tirelessly to protect our animals from being exported live by sea. Despite what appeared to be insurmountable odds, we never gave up. We are elated on learning about this victory, and we are so grateful to everyone who fought on our side. We are going ahead with Part B of our application, and with the continued support of the public, we will ensure that no more sheep will be subjected to cruel suffering and NO ANIMALS WILL BE EXPORTED BY SEA NORTH OF THE EQUATOR!” - Marcelle Meredith, Executive Director, NSPCA.
Be a part of changing history for animals in South Africa by supporting the NSPCA in this battle.

Disgusting and abhorrent treatment of animals having to endure such a long voyage to their destination.
