I just bought a 2021 XL, yesterday with 10 hours on it and noticed one of the steering controls being loose. Looked up under and found the damper unthreaded. I pulled it off and the other side off without taking anything apart. Just reach a small flathead in and pop up the spring band and pull the damper out. I also found the opposite side damper just starting to thread off. Loc-Tite is a must here.
I found the left damper unthreaded but not striped. Instead of trying to pop off the bushing I used a 12mm and 13 mm wrench to loosen the bolt. I then threaded it back on and reinstalled the bolt. I didn't use loc-tite though.
I have a hustler raptor SD, with a 54-in deck. My right control arm is stiff. When you put it in reverse and then push it forward, it is extremely stiff and it needs quite a bit of effort to push it forward. Could this be the damper going bad. You mentioned the word sloppy in your video, so I was just concerned if this would also fix that problem. Great video, learned a lot.
Thank you for watching, Daniel! That would be the first thing I'd check. You could take off one end of each damper and see if the right one is significantly harder to push in/pull out than the left. Mine was sloppy because the end knuckle had broken and the damper was just flopping around, unattached. IF the dampers feel ok to you, then I'd look for a mechanical issue (anything bent, not lubricated, etc in the linkage rod, etc.)
@@dwcoffey Thank you sir. It actually turned out to be the damper. I replaced it, and it works fine. Your advice helped me figure out the problem. Thank you for information.
I still got my Husqvarna 22V46 Lawn Tractor Dennis. The Only issue I have now is a sloppy steering rod. The one that goes from the steering wheel on down. I can move the steering wheel back and forth, side to side about a 1/4" or so. Looked through my parts list and it doesn't seem to have the Bushing needed to correct it and make it not move anymore. Am thinking about looking through some plumbing at Home Depot. I could get lucky. Thanks again for your videos Dennis. Happy Independence Day, what's left of it.
Hey Joe, thanks for watching! Check this out: ruclips.net/video/qSzG6-BVubs/видео.html If that's the issue, there is a link in the video description for purchasing a new bushing.
Are these dampners necessary? Mine had damners and did not automatically return to neutral. I removed dampners and made it to auto return to neutral. To me its 10x better. But was wondering why this is. Do they all have dampners and no return to neutral?
Thanks for watching! Mine return the control levers to neutral. I could operate the mower without them but I wouldn't want to. Mine would be too sensitive without the dampeners.
@@dwcoffey just stopped by tractor supply dealing bad boy and none of them return. Just stay where ever you put them. Was just curious as to why some were diferent
@@dwcoffey I do know its a factory choice to return ot not. But why. I took my dampners off and made spring return to neutral. Would have it any other way personally. Push forward and they snap back to neutral instantly. Not slowly
Ah, that's one difference in some models. Some don't have return springs, so the dampener is the only 'automatic' return to neurtral. That makes sense. I'm with you, let the spring do the work and be done with it. Sounds like a better setup to m e too. thanks!
You just saved yourself and anyone who does this at least 200$ job well done.
Thank you for watching, Michael! I appreciate it!
Yes that is good can I get to know you Michael Farris your name seems familiar

That explains and solves my issue , same side too 🤷♂️.
Nice , ez video
I'm glad it helped! Thank you for watching!
Can you show one for the left side
Thanks for watching! If my left one goes out, I'll be sure to video it, but it is the essentially the same on both sides.
thanks for the help broke mine last week on the fastrak and I was like how the hell do these come off lol
I'm glad this helped! Thanks for watching, Chad!

Hustler has a problem with their dampers, had to replace both of mine in a fastrak and never could syncriniz back like it should be
Thanks for watching, Joe! I've heard this might be a common problem. My next video will address synchronizing the sticks.
@@dwcoffey thank you for your videos
Just did mine under warranty but it shouldn’t have failed at 60 hours.
The p/u and delivery fee was a bummer
Thank you for watching, John!
Good grief. Glad I have ferris. Just 2 bolts! : )
LOL! Thank you for watching, Tim!
Noticed that my left handle was loose. Checked the right side first to compare then I realized the whole left dampener was missing… oh my
I hope this helped you get it fixed. Thanks for watching!
