Amazing video. but how did you get him not to kick the fire out of you when you were behind him with those long reigns? That was magic. I have a 5 year old molly right now that i don't trust to be 5 ft from me. lol could sure use your training out here in the desert. Great videos, learning a lot.
Before making negative remarks, please share what you would do differently. Have you seen what dominant mare does in the herd, when you introduce a new horse, especially if that horse kicks? Thank you Mr. Bishop for sharing real life training, and thank you others with your comments. If your experiece is otherwise, please share with rest of us. We are here to learn.
The issue isn't correcting him for kicking out. Binding up the mule's movement is the problem. If your argument is "naturally, this is herd dynamics," then that has to be consistent with all other actions shown. Horses and mules learn by pressure and release. There was no release. This is very much the old cowboy mentality of "I'll MAKE you mind."
Mules are animals that experience pain & fear & he made sure they felt that pain & fear. If that's what you feel is the correct way to treat/train any animal then maybe you need to be trained just like that yourself & see how you like it & what you learn.
You just told me two things: 1)You have never owned or trained mules. 2) you don’t mind showing your ignorance. You would probably argue with a fence post over any subject.
Horses are same strong. With Knowledge, Respect n TRUST you can start n train Mules like Horses . Then you have a Partner. Max just breaks Mules. Abusiv. They will never trust him, never respect him, never be a Partner in Open Range. Just terrible.
Their strength isn't the issue. They're much stronger minded than horses which is why I'd be shocked if this mule ever trusted this man or anyone else by binding him up like this.
Nice work Max. Hey my man, youve never been afraid to express brutal honesty. Hope you are as good on the recieving end. Youve now taught Tex how NOT to move from the ground... and before that was fixed . You then taught him to balk in the saddle. Plus, you've desensitized him to your clucks, whistles and right to left flank rope encouragements: all things you intended to produce forward movement with. Brother, you know better than jumping on his back before you get control of his legs moving in groundwork. And no, none of us have seen a dominant mare discipline a mule AFTER being kicked. Dominant mares DONT EVER get kicked because the initial body language or responses from other herd members clues a new gelding in. Its different for a new mare being intro'd to the herd who might "out dominate" the existing Queen. You even had a chance to push the other mules around so Tex saw your role as Queen biatch,(which you vlogged about after seeing me do that to one of the most disrespectful mules you sold me. You ought to post that again.) This is the whole reason to have them realize we own their legs by doing groundwork first. You let yourself get mad for being kicked. Then instead of immediately attacking back by making him move his feet (just like a dominant mare would...you let a few minutes go by and laid him down (with absolutely no control over the lay down...he bucked and fell while hobbled.) Then you got on him after you showed him how NOT to move when around you, and he did exactly what you schooled him to do! Nice cover up by calling it a desensitizing lesson. Max, there are people out there new to mules that look to you to learn. You should have deleted that video and started fresh without 4 or 5 other mules... dragging lead ropes around. Ok, I've said my peace. Peter
JAIL TIME PLEASE GROSS ANIMAL ABUSER EXPOSED LEAVE THEM ALONE ALL OF THEM AND GO DO SOMETHING AWAY FROM ALL ANIMALS OR GO TO JAIL PLEASE STOP THIS MAN YOU TUBE
Tex seems very confused, as am I. Since the other mules were blocking the camera for most of Tex's "down" time, we can't see what you're doing, although it looks like you're trying to desensitize him. So it looks like the message is Don't move, no matter what! But then when you're on him it looks like you're trying to get him to move out using the same cues. But the lesson was don't move no matter what is slapping on you or rubbing on you. Or is that what you meant at the end, that you weren't trying to get him to move forward yet? On to the next video . . .
Ha!Ha! That mule made an ass out of you!🤣🤣🤣🤣 he taught you how to lunge🤣🤣🤣yep, you taught him to not move, no matter what 🤣🤣🤣🤣I bet you sweated more than he did!

People making comments don't understand how much stronger mules are than horse. Mules. Are. Not. Horses.
