  • At an airbase in Denmark, the Danish Air Force has been training the next generation of Ukrainian fighter pilots to fly the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
A coalition of NATO Allies, including Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway, has agreed to donate their F-16s to the Ukrainian Air Force. As part of the deal, Danish instructors at Skrydstrup Air Base are training Ukrainian pilots, technicians and ground crew how to fly and maintain the F-16. The first jets will enter service later this year.
The Ukrainian pilots are full of praise for the F-16, noting its responsive controls and agile flight features.
The F-16 is an advanced multirole fighter, which will replace Ukraine’s aging fleet of MiG-29 Fulcrums and Su-27 Flankers. Speedy, highly manoeuvrable and capable of carrying a wide range of ordnance, the F-16 will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s ability to continue defending its airspace and territory against Russia's war of aggression.

@Alfeco For anyone who supports Ukraine and follows this stuff closely it is indeed insanely frustrating. Why training for Ukrainian piolets didn't begin much much earlier is baffling but so are many things regarding support to Ukraine. I hope that soon there is a surge of things coming together that will allow massive Ukrainian control of the battlefield.
Keep in mind of the big picture though. In spite of Russia throwing thousands of men and tons of military equipment trying to take over Ukraine they have gotten practically nowhere. Russian gains on the last year are not even close to approaching their initial gains early in the war that they lost to Ukraine counter offensives in Kharkiv and Kherson.

No, the intense extended training saves lives. Otherwise you'll end up sending highly educated ukrainian pilots into a certain death, if they are not capable of handling the falcon and knows its limits. We all owe them a chance of survival, so they may even be able to support the groundforces too on a long term basis. Pilots are not easy to replace -it takes years to educate new pilots. It is not a hamburgerstand where someone new can take over, when you leave just because they had a PS2 at home to play with.

My opinion as i written on Internet may 20 years back is that F-16 is a plane that Generals like. lt can do everything. In Ukraine it has start doing jobs that will enable it to do all it can. It would be reckless to make it do that at the start. At start it is about getting control and I suspect that is the main focus on the training but I hope they got additional training for air to ground missions. In Ukraine air to air fighting might no happen. The russians fire their missiles and run. So it is up the Ukranians to create TRAPS

The strategic of using F16 is different from mig or su....The pilot are train from a certain DNA of Russia style.. I dont think it is an easy adaptation for the pilot.. i am worry for the pilot ..if this F16 can have the python missile will be a good thing for them..
