My sister came over a few days ago (in person, not on my island lol) and handed me an acorn and said, "I shook a tree for hours to get you this." 😂 It was so funny. Coconut trees! They are being left out lately, I agree.
The direction of the balloons floating in are specific to each island, however it is certainly true that whatever direction they come from during the day, it is the opposite direction come nightfall. Mori’s tip is spot on, check your houses smoke direction. My balloons come from the East in the AM. Balloons spawn at :04, and :09, each ten minute interval (ex. :1:04, 1:09, 1:14, 1:19, etc.). You can’t see or hear them until :05 & :10 as it takes a minute to come from the ocean. So basically run up and down at each 5 minute mark exactly and you should be able to hear it coming in. The store trick totally works, pop in, sell something or just ask for the turnip price, then leave pretty quick, 2 minutes before spawn time. Additionally, if you see or hear the balloon and then change your view to the sky, the balloon will actually start to drift toward you if you are remotely near to it. Super helpful if you can’t run up to it as it could be over a river or pond, or a bed of flowers. Presents will disappear into flowers and furniture if there is no room for them to “bounce” into a spot. Yeah , I don't see how the 14 things affect it . My record is 133 shakes for 1 pine cone , first day I averaged 80 shakes per cone , getting fourteen items first is not going to change that I feel .
I’ve been shaking both sides of the trees since the update. Last night I got 71 branches and only 6 acorns. What I’m learning is my luck is on the crap end if I’m getting 1 every 11-12 branches.
Me and a friend did that one of us stood on one side of the tree and the other on the other side. One shakes the tree, the other picks up whatever dropped. In about 30 min - 35 min depending on tree and who shakes the tree we got enough of one material for all precipices. Have not tried with the multi play but if used the leader should be the one to pick up the drops. (update: multi play works, leader got to be the one picking up otherwise the drops end up in the box at resident services)
Great tips for shaking the tree. Additional Tip, when you switch to the other side of the tree pick-up the two dropped items directly in front of the tree. This lets you get 8 on each side each shaking session.
This video made me so happy. I knew there was eleven special fall DIY recipes, and I have been stuck at nine for three days now and thought I somehow missed the last two. Knowing the other two don’t appear until November allows me to breathe a sigh of relief. Lol

I remember getting really lucky on the 1st two days of this month, I managed to get all nine diy's within two days... made one of each and have 30 acorns/pinecones ready for the last diy's... and maybe even duplicates
Look me a week to collect them all seasonal DIY recipes. I was getting 2 per day. I feel my alt is more lucky. I have over 3 stacks of each. Some items can be customized. The lovely leaf campfire has sticks of marshmallow on the sides. Reminds me of going to the moors.
Good to know the numbers even though frustrating. Why not hold a net when shaking trees and catch the wasps and sell to Flick for 3750 each rather than running away?
After i started doing my daily trees i just got annoyed about all the wasps, I'm not trying to get as many bells as possible so its like. Ugh, more wasps >~
i definitly think they changed something after the easter event when everybody was complaining and now its super hard to get diys and these stupid items 😭
I think it's cause the easter event everyone was still new to the game, so the eggs got in the way of the progression of building up your island and stuff. But now everyone has progressed much farther and we are looking for new things to do!
I just restarted ACNH today after not playing since April, and my first DIY I got from a balloon was the Pine Bonsai Tree and I absolutely love it! Can't wait to get pine cones so I can craft it

This helped so much, all I'm missing is the arch and big tree. I make sure I only decorate one side of my trees so I have space for coins/furniture and now acorns/pinecones. I'll shake, pick up, then shake again. I ended up with hundreds of tree branches lol and 30 of each in storage.
Good to know. My go to right now is just going around shaking trees for pinecones and acorns until i get 15 of each. I don't like to time travel so i want to fill up my inventory with materials.
I... do not have that kind of space around my trees. Also, my balloons actually spawn on the reverse schedule of yours apparently. I think it may be something to do with what side your dock is on?

Thanks you helped! I found something out too and I hope this helps... Go to one tree and shake it non stop until all space under and near tree is full with drop. pick up all branches, etc and shake again. one side then the other. I got over 23 pine cones from a single tree.
Do you live in a different hemisphere? I'm not sure if that determine their directions or not. Watching the villagers chimneys is a useful hack though if you can't remember for your own island
The balloon spawn location correspond to where the wind is blowing in from. Not sure why Mayor Mori didn't bring this up. You can usually check which direction it's blowing from by checking the chimney smoke from either your house, a villager's house, or Sable's store. There are days where the smoke doesn't move so its best to check both beaches for balloons to and stick with the balloon spawning side until 6pm, which is when the wind usually changes direction.
NessaOfDorthonion I live on the Northern Hemisphere, same as Mayor Mori. I just pointed this out so others who might be looking for their balloons maybe check the other shore as well. That hack is really smart though!

Omg thank u. I was literally running around my island shaking all my trees because I didn’t realize that 1. Trees could drop that much stuff and 2. You could just shake the same tree over and over again lol. In like 15 minutes and with the same 4 trees, I collected half the amount of pine cones and acorns that took me weeks collecting. 😭
Another trick with DIY is to fence one side of the beach, ideally the side without a river mouth with climbing walls because it’s too tall for the balloons to fly over them so they’ll be trapped by the walls. But make sure you don’t leave any gap between the climbing walls or the balloons may slip through the gap and fly away. You can check the smoke coming out of the chimney to see the direction of the balloons flying from and stay on one side of the climbing walls. All you have to do then just turned up the volume and pop the balloons without having to constantly running up and down the beach.
Shake shake shake! I've been shaking a lot and spent a few hours each day (2 days in total) to collect the 9 seasonal DIYs via balloon hunting. My personal fav is the acorn pochette as it's super cute! Currently I have 53 acorns and 48 pine cones in storage! =) I think going back to the same tree that drops a lot of acorns/pine cones give you a better chance of collecting more of them. ^^

I’ve found a quick way to do it, I’ve gotten 30 acorns in less than 30 minutes. Get two players, one stands on one side of the tree and shakes it, the other one stands opposite, like in front but to the side where the branch drops. Both players repeatedly press their button (shaker gets right, gatherer gets left) for however long it’ll take. It’s super efficient!
Now THIS is one heck of a public service video. I have to say that all three days over this weekend (yes the weekend, plus a vacation day, plus stuck inside due to godawful fire smoke) I had exactly ONE balloon. (Also I was so excited I lost that single balloon on the plaza, what the heck was I thinking.) I tried everything & got super discouraged. All better today, I suddenly have 6 of the 11 fall DIYs made (3 just this evening) and I guess it’s actually 6 of 9, so wow, there we go. Had no idea you should shake both sides of trees, gonna be an acorniannaire soon, as long as my husband keeps watching terrible movies - thank you for this vlog!! (I have Deirdre, who has a whole fall house, and I’ve been looking forward to this for ages! I need ALL the mushrooms, when are they coming?)
I have been successful in getting multiple acorns and pine cones by using this method. I choose a tree that has a large space on one side enough to hold 5 to 6 branches on the ground. I shake the tree until the 5 or 6 branches have fallen the pick them up and shake the same side again I keep picking up the branches and shaking until an acorn or pine cone falls. It does take a lot of shaking and picking up but I picked up 44 tree branches and collected 8 pine cones from this one pine. Acorns are a bit harder to get but if you are persistent with shaking and picking up you can earn both.
Shake Around 20 pinecone and acorns (I spend to much time shaking trees) the yellow leaf pile is definitely my favorite and was the 2 tree bounty item I got! (After Isabelle's diy recipe)
Shake! Turbo button is your friend, friends. I’d given up on crafting the seasonal diys (I have 5 whole acorns, 2 left behind by a visitor with full pockets) but now I might give it another go. Been waiting on the bonsai for my log shelves!

Regarding the balloon floating: There are 2 patterns. From page 162 of the guide book "Upon its creation, your island will randomly be assigned one of two wind patterns".
My balloons come from the east in the morning and west in the evening. Interesting. I haven't focused on it a lot but I swear the balloons have fewer recipes than the summer ones. This weekend hopefully I'll have time to focus. Shake!
Yesterday I went around and shook all non-fruit-bearing trees that I could until all available spaces were covered with droppings. Now in some accounts, there were either flowers, trees, buildings, or rivers around as I'm trying to redevelop my island as well as breed the last couple of flowers I don't yet have like blue roses and green mums. Anyways back to the point when well after picking everything up today I had 32 pinecones and 28 acorns. I've done this 1-2 times already once was a mass tree shaking and that time I ended up with around the 10's for the items each the other was under that with maybe 8-9 each.
Love the channel always watching but correction. Balloons come from opposite side of your boardwalk during thr day and same side during the night. Have 3 switches and thats how they are 2 come from east side during the day and 1 comes in from the west during the day
I definitely like the Trees' Bounty Pochette and the Trees' Bounty Mobile the most, at least out of the ones I already have. It's kind of hard to keep track of them all otherwise.
Shake! I will try your tips because I think I was only able to get 2 pines since this update happened...lol it’s a little annoying shaking the trees but i think it’s best to go on other islands to shake the trees so you don’t have to worry about the mess after.
I'm glad to know the last 2 DIYs won't be available right now; I'd hate to be pulling my hair out trying to get them for 2 months ^^; The Summer DIYs spawned so quickly but the autumn stuff, which is actually useful, is all like "Nah, we gon be effin' rare"

Shake! I'm not sure how many pinecones and acorns I have. Enough to craft each one of the 9 items (and 1 of those more than once)...but it's not enough! I want to make tons of leaf piles for the forest that leads up to Lucky's cemetery! Right now, all of the different leaf piles are my favorite...but I can't wait to get those last 2 DIYs!
Here's something weird: the wind patterns on my island are the opposite. During the day, the balloons come from the east and at night they come from the west. I guess it depends on the island!

if you sprint up and grab your net it turns you around and you can catch them (and they can go in your museum or be sold for 5k bells)

Running into residents services also helps too if you're being chased by wasps. I did that when a nest fell from one of the trees near the plaza.

I've got, I think, 13 pine cones and 18 acorns. I like the tree's bounty lamp. It's the only item I like out of the whole set, tbh

Omg thank u. I was literally running around my island shaking all my trees because I didn’t realize that 1. Trees could drop that much stuff and 2. You could just shake the same tree over and over again lol. In like 15 minutes and with the same 4 trees, I collected half the amount of pine cones and acorns that took me weeks collecting. 😭

Yep. I shake my trees at least twice a day. My poor A button is going to need an overhaul.
Another trick with DIY is to fence one side of the beach, ideally the side without a river mouth with climbing walls because it’s too tall for the balloons to fly over them so they’ll be trapped by the walls. But make sure you don’t leave any gap between the climbing walls or the balloons may slip through the gap and fly away. You can check the smoke coming out of the chimney to see the direction of the balloons flying from and stay on one side of the climbing walls. All you have to do then just turned up the volume and pop the balloons without having to constantly running up and down the beach.

Shake shake shake! I've been shaking a lot and spent a few hours each day (2 days in total) to collect the 9 seasonal DIYs via balloon hunting. My personal fav is the acorn pochette as it's super cute! Currently I have 53 acorns and 48 pine cones in storage! =)
I think going back to the same tree that drops a lot of acorns/pine cones give you a better chance of collecting more of them. ^^

I’ve found a quick way to do it, I’ve gotten 30 acorns in less than 30 minutes. Get two players, one stands on one side of the tree and shakes it, the other one stands opposite, like in front but to the side where the branch drops. Both players repeatedly press their button (shaker gets right, gatherer gets left) for however long it’ll take. It’s super efficient!
Now THIS is one heck of a public service video. I have to say that all three days over this weekend (yes the weekend, plus a vacation day, plus stuck inside due to godawful fire smoke) I had exactly ONE balloon. (Also I was so excited I lost that single balloon on the plaza, what the heck was I thinking.) I tried everything & got super discouraged. All better today, I suddenly have 6 of the 11 fall DIYs made (3 just this evening) and I guess it’s actually 6 of 9, so wow, there we go. Had no idea you should shake both sides of trees, gonna be an acorniannaire soon, as long as my husband keeps watching terrible movies - thank you for this vlog!! (I have Deirdre, who has a whole fall house, and I’ve been looking forward to this for ages! I need ALL the mushrooms, when are they coming?)
I have been successful in getting multiple acorns and pine cones by using this method. I choose a tree that has a large space on one side enough to hold 5 to 6 branches on the ground. I shake the tree until the 5 or 6 branches have fallen the pick them up and shake the same side again I keep picking up the branches and shaking until an acorn or pine cone falls. It does take a lot of shaking and picking up but I picked up 44 tree branches and collected 8 pine cones from this one pine. Acorns are a bit harder to get but if you are persistent with shaking and picking up you can earn both.
Shake Around 20 pinecone and acorns (I spend to much time shaking trees) the yellow leaf pile is definitely my favorite and was the 2 tree bounty item I got! (After Isabelle's diy recipe)
Shake! Turbo button is your friend, friends. I’d given up on crafting the seasonal diys (I have 5 whole acorns, 2 left behind by a visitor with full pockets) but now I might give it another go. Been waiting on the bonsai for my log shelves!

Regarding the balloon floating: There are 2 patterns. From page 162 of the guide book "Upon its creation, your island will randomly be assigned one of two wind patterns".
My balloons come from the east in the morning and west in the evening. Interesting. I haven't focused on it a lot but I swear the balloons have fewer recipes than the summer ones. This weekend hopefully I'll have time to focus. Shake!

Yesterday I went around and shook all non-fruit-bearing trees that I could until all available spaces were covered with droppings. Now in some accounts, there were either flowers, trees, buildings, or rivers around as I'm trying to redevelop my island as well as breed the last couple of flowers I don't yet have like blue roses and green mums. Anyways back to the point when well after picking everything up today I had 32 pinecones and 28 acorns. I've done this 1-2 times already once was a mass tree shaking and that time I ended up with around the 10's for the items each the other was under that with maybe 8-9 each.
Love the channel always watching but correction. Balloons come from opposite side of your boardwalk during thr day and same side during the night. Have 3 switches and thats how they are 2 come from east side during the day and 1 comes in from the west during the day

If you find a pinecone / acorn on the first or second shake, keep doing back to THAT tree, you’ll get so many more throughout the day

I will try your tips because I think I was only able to get 2 pines since this update happened...lol it’s a little annoying shaking the trees but i think it’s best to go on other islands to shake the trees so you don’t have to worry about the mess after.
I'm glad to know the last 2 DIYs won't be available right now; I'd hate to be pulling my hair out trying to get them for 2 months ^^; The Summer DIYs spawned so quickly but the autumn stuff, which is actually useful, is all like "Nah, we gon be effin' rare"

Shake! I'm not sure how many pinecones and acorns I have. Enough to craft each one of the 9 items (and 1 of those more than once)...but it's not enough! I want to make tons of leaf piles for the forest that leads up to Lucky's cemetery! Right now, all of the different leaf piles are my favorite...but I can't wait to get those last 2 DIYs!

Here's something weird: the wind patterns on my island are the opposite. During the day, the balloons come from the east and at night they come from the west. I guess it depends on the island!
OMG Same! I was so confused when he said his morning balloons come from the West, and night balloons come from East since mine is the opposite.
Same! I saw another RUclipsr say that each island is random, but wherever the balloon comes from during the day will be the opposite after 7pm

I am in the Northern Hemisphere but my Balloons spawn in the East during the day and the West at night! I think every island is different :) I never thought about looking at the way the smoke blows though! The details in this game!
