Elphinstone 5.7.2023 - sharks (Longimanus - oceanic white tip) way too close :)

  • We had a really thrilling dive with two Longimanus (oceanic white tip) sharks during our second Elphinstone dive that day. They came out of nowhere and started to circle around us. However, there were two big trevallies playing with them which probably made them slightly irritated. After some while, they started to go closer, under the group and finally through the group (almost like trying to splitting the group) which was less and less comfortable. We decided to end the dive sooner to avoid any "conflicts" and potential harm and all of us safely returned to the speedboat. Despite the whole group was close to the boat, the current caused the gap between the group and the boat to some 20m in a while. In my case, one of the sharks started to follow me and in a while was directly below me when I was trying to reach the boat. I followed all the recommended safety procedures, stopped my attempt to surface, turned again to face the shark and once he decided to swim away, I finished going off the water. Really exciting dive! More videos of our dives can be found on www.divers.tv
BTW. This is uncut and probably most interesting part of the video - when I'm not facing the sharks with the camera, I'm checking my buddy - my wife :)

Nope, corals are cleaning themselves around this eater temperature, creating a huge amount of plankton. The visibility goes rapidly down, but on the other hand, the chance to meet plankton-eating whale shark goes rapidly up :)
