Glad you enjoyed it! I've always wondered about Uli's tone, so it was good to finally find out a bit more about his rig. He's up there with Jeff Beck for me, in terms of how well he can shape his tone, who else do you reckon would be on that list?
Cheers, really appreciate that! I've been playing that solo for years, found it on youtube way back when and it just sort of jumper out at me; it's gone through a few transcriptions over the years; think I more of less have it worked out now :)
@@boabdilyad5441 Well noticed! It's from this live clip: ruclips.net/video/AXUUbMJOfp4/видео.html of Uli playing with UFO/Schenker and the song is, indeed Doctor, Doctor. I don't think Schenker has ever shared the harmony lead lines with any another guitarist, live he normally does them as double stops. Really nice to hear that twin lead thing like it is on the studio version :)
JBF, check out the scale sequencing done on scorpion songs Catch you Train guitar solo section and song called: All Night long. The Studio version and Tokyo Tapes versions are different. If you can make a video lesson on how to do the scale sequencing because this is Uli Roths secret sauce on these songs on how to do the scale note sequencing which are his trademark habits

It’s interesting that he has strings below his top high E string - like on his own Sails lesson on RUclips. I wonder what gauge and tuning those are. A/D like the bottom strings but an octave up maybe?

I think the might have been arouns as custom makes in the 1930s? Either way Uli must6 have put a tonne of thought in to putting his Sky guitar together, load of unique features!

His Rig Rundown is a must see.
Totally agree. He's got a really nice laid back way about him as well, worth it for that alone!
That blonde strat; u got the touch tone and time down. Uli practically taught me tremolo work.
Thanks bud, that really means a lot! Great player, some really tasteful tremolo use :)
Thank you for the explanation of the sky guitar controls as well as the excellent style analysis

Now do Boy George's bongo playing.
I hope there's not a joke here I'm not getting that that he could legit shred the life out of a set of bongos!
