Thank you for sharing this information and demonstration. I have only used SnapBridge as a remote shutter release when doing night photography. I like having the light from my phone instead of fumbling in the dark or using a mounted flashlight. I did just use it to update the firmware and it worked seamlessly.
I love using SnapBridge for its auto-transfer & location data features, but I think I'll stick to the memory card approach for firmware updates. The kicker was having to wait a day for the download via the app. I'm usually on the edge of my seat when firmware updates are released 🤓
I definitely like Snap Bridge, 👍. I started using it when I got a D3400, then D7500, then D850. I just joined the Mirrorles club with the Z62, this week. I just set it up this morning 🌄. I plan on getting a few images on it today, 5/15/21. Can't wait.
Don’t forget if you use the 24-70 2.8, or the f converter, there is an update to version 1.10 L. That doesn’t seem to show up on SnapBridge unfortunately.
Thank for the tip video, fyi I use Snapbridge a lot I’m very happy with as during my shoots I can see directly the result on my I Pad too and if I shoot models show them the results, never got any stability issue , I pad stays in my backpack and pictures are automatically downloaded as I shoot. So you can see it also as a Backup.
Today, 7-1- 2024 for my Z9 I can't get SnapBridge to update my Nikon! Although I did get on the Nikon Website and downloaded the latest update on my CFexpress Card, then reinserted it into the camera, Slot #1 and followed the download procedures. "I did this 2x" Now it say's ,,, Firmware version, C 5.00 G 0.17 MA 1.0
stupid development from Nikon that this not work for the Z6 - at least they could have made it possible to use the memory card as a normal disk via usb-c connection (you can only download files to pc/mac - no upload back via USB-C)
Too bad my z6ii doesn't connect with blue tooth such a shame garbage app tried all the trouble shooting nothing more I can do I'm using a Samsung s24 ultra
The idea that I can update my firmware using just my cell phone and camera without having to have a computer is a big deal to me. Thank you very much!
You're welcome and thanks for watching.

I agree with you there. Not sure why the delay wit the app but it seems to be every time.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I am glad to hear that a lot of the pains associated with it have been worked out. Maybe I'll give it a try!
Love the channel! Does this work with the Z5?
Thanks for watching - sorry Z6 II and Z7 II only.
Thanks for the video, the only way it works with my Nikon Z6II, after trying 10 other youtube video's
Glad I was able to help you out - thanks for commenting :-)

I just bought a Nikon Z30 but it only has the Chinese language. Is there a solution?
Is this only applicable for Z6ii? Can I update the firmware of z6 using SnapBridge?
Thanks for watching - sorry the II series only for firmware via SnapBridge.
Excellent tutorial
Thank you for watching and the kind words :-)
Can you do it on a z6l
Can it be done with original z6?
No - you will need to use your card.
@@joen3083 😭
@@petar3683 I agree
Does it work for the Z6 ?
