KK needs an outside shot. She’s a one trick pony at this point and always wants to finish at or near the rim. It’s nice that both Shade and Q have pull up jumpers. Aubrey also doesn’t have an outside shot and Nika needs her feet set to hit a jumper so when they’re both in the game the team is very limited from the outside. Q, Ashlyn and KK all have bright futures.
This uconn freshmen class is the best in the country. As a group. For lsu you got mikayla and only her, South Carolina got milaysia, usc got juju, and notre dame got hidalgo.. the uconn freshmen are complete as a whole, they all have had good nights and contributed to the team even if they played competitive opponents. Against Texas, they were doing so well. Against nc state, q was amazing, ashlynn shined when she played ball state, and her defense is pretty good. Kk has always been great, steals and fast paced .
To be fair we don’t see a lot of the other freshmen on the other teams because they have people with more depth and experience. Due to injuries UCONN has had to rely on their freshmen more so they are getting more minutes to show their skill and grow in these games
@@michaelt8161 makes sense, but many teams have played non competitive opponents, games with unranked teams, which the freshmen are most likely to play some huge minutes, take lsu for example, they don’t play the best teams and the freshmen are still getting their grove in motion. Usc as well, notre dame, and so on. that’s what makes this team different, their loses overshadow what the freshmen have done. No way is anyone asking the freshmen from any other teams to do so much because they are just getting started and we don’t blame them for that, but getting a good start is pretty impressive when playing ranked opponents.
@@brianmchugh3757 you didn’t get my point. I mean the impact they had on the team as a group that JUST got started. That’s the whole point, their impact from now, waiting is going against my point.
Nice take skillet. I agree totally. Only time will tell. Because of Shades history of being a scorer and her breakout game vs Ball State, I feel she is going to be stellar. She feels comfortable because Geno has given her the green light. He wants her to keep shooting regardless of the misses. Her all around game is really good and makes her effective on so many levels. I like all of these kids. Nice kids because UCONN only recruits good kids.
Those first few games I was screaming at the TV..."PUT SHADE IN!!!" I knew she could help. Q had some good minutes...dropped some 3s but Ash was still on the bench. I'm glad Geno eventually heard me!! These freshmen will be crucial this season!
Well done. The guards? Love all three of them. Shade is solid. Samuels will be like a silent assassin with her stroke. KK I sense is feeling some 'pressure' from playing behind Nika. She's trying to be too careful, looking over her shoulder to the bench at times, but she's the real deal and could be a star. So, it all comes down to Ice Brady. She is one of these cases where her personality gets in the way of her potential production qualities. She needs to become an 'angry' player, a player with a mission to destroy the opposition. She has to understand she is in a war. Smoothness? What smoothness. Smoothness is a nice dessert not required during the war, er, game on the court. Too harsh? Brady has the size and the stroke. She could have a great career ahead of her if she toughens up. By Tournament time UCONN's three freshmen guards will shock the wbb world and if Brady plays her role, to give toughness to the team, we could be looking at a miracle in the works! REMEMBER, BUECKERS, EDWARDS AND GRIFFIN ARE SPECIAL. Nika? She is being challenged by the 'kids' and her shot making ability is always a concern. BUT, and I truly believe this, Nika is very bright and as time passes she will 'personally' understand what she can bring to this team to make them a success and she will do whatever is necessary to make that happen. Sorry, I went far beyond talking about the freshmen but the real story here is UCONN. Geno? He demands consistency! Something wrong with that? He's doing his thing and his track record is pretty good. But, yes, there are no roll overs anymore and building a roster to compete is essential. Let's talk blackjack for a moment. Geno, lifted his cards and saw 21 and Paige was the prize. Then, for the next, what , 2 and going into a 3rd season Geno keeps hitting 16 and a picture card keeps coming up. But, he still has to play the cards he has and maybe, he too, has to incorporate some strategy to get the best out of every hand, er, game.
Geno needs to trust (show her that he trusts her) DeBerry, and DeBerry needs to assert herself and show that she can be trusted and not look lost all the time, or afraid that she will get yanked if she makes a mistake (Geno!).
Ashlynn Shade is ❤currently the best of the Frosh. She gives what we had from Ducharme. She can shoot and does. Kk has. not been consistent. I like Q and her energy. Ice is a disappointment. She cannot shoot at a high level. JANA will be spectacular. She can go to the basket. She can be the next Edward’s I don’t see it in Ice. Please have a talented big girl in the transfer portal. I’m really surprised that in four years Nika has not developed some shots she can consistently hit
Ice was very good the last 2 games. Very good passer and not sure if you watched her defense in the 3rd quarter in the loss. Also her passing is spot on. Rewatch the games please
I enjoyed your take, really don't disagree at all. But one thing that stood out was when you were talking about if Aaliyah Edwards leaves, Ice Brady will need to step up...enter you talking about Jana El Alfy. I think what Geno needs to do is draft another big like El Alfy. This would allow him to always have in big in the game, and/or at times have twin towers so to speak [when necessary]. But overall I liked your take.
That is IF uccmm Doesn’t fall off the map by then .. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Jk. Jk. As a UConn women’s fan since Lobo, and I played with Sue Bird, they will pull it together. I just have never seen this team look so out of sync since the mid 90s. I think they’ll hit their stride as conference play starts and we’ll see UConn deep into March/April
This class is going to accomplish so much. Imagine if Jana El Alfy didn’t tear her achilles

Iowa State starts 3 freshmen. It’s a little early to make that statement.

@@violetforpb OK, fair enough. I do agree this class has promise.
They need to play Q more, she is the best shooter out of the all freshmen. In my opinion

Excellent review bro keep up the great work. Yes KK has been the best so far but I think Shade will be the best of the freshmen long-term.
Thanks
Mice Brady better start showing some effort. Or is she another Amari DeBust.
They all have potential however you need someone to run the point when Paige and Nika leaves .
Fab freshmen, they ain't showed up yet
You are a good evaluator of talent.
Thanks. Not sure other will agree but thanks
I think KK is the most _certain_ to be a big contributor but Shade might have a bigger upside. If you count El Alfy, she's right up there with them
All UConn point guards have gotten better entering senior year. NIKA MUHL STINKS
Geno needs to trust (show her that he trusts her) DeBerry, and DeBerry needs to assert herself and show that she can be trusted and not look lost all the time, or afraid that she will get yanked if she makes a mistake (Geno!).
Without the latter, I don't think we'll be getting the former.

Is it just me or does kk not run like Ari McDonald and plays defense like her as well I think she needs to study her

Samuel and Shade

Brady is the most important of the 4 for this season. And the other three have all played better. That’s the one negative I want to mention.
That is IF uccmm

Ice Brandy is not a rebound/post player like Aaliyah, she is a pick and pop player! She needs mid range shots and an occasional top of the key three!
Quandance ...!?!?!?!?...Do you do these awful spellings on purpose ???? LOL
Yes I do - helps engagement
