These things are literal garbage. Old, run down, molded, rusted, totaled, and overall unrepairable. Replacing the SIDE MIRRORS will easily cost more than 10x the cars value.
Work a week at my yard, you'll change your mind about the "fun job" real quick. These guys are slow. We do 5x that many in half the time. Our shit is old and wore out.

The 98 one was a pain in the ass, at rush hour w/ a billion cars racing by. I wish I had better luck with it, but didn't. And I didn't neglect preventative maintenance more than the next guy. I'm not a car guy, so I woulda gladly kept it as an A to B vehicle for as long as it woulda held up.

Vito Lee actually, the roof only comes down almost 3/4 of the way....so with the doors folding the way they do, they would practically fall off after coming out of the Crusher so you could fall out.
My friend picked up an abandoned van with his tow truck and when he got to the scrap yard a bum hopped out! End result: Bum relocated to another part of town!!

After the cars get crushed they're loaded onto a truck and taken a shredding facility, where a machine shreds the cars into small pieces of material. After being shredded the metal is sorted from the other materials by means of an electromagnet, while plastic and upholstery gets recycled.
It made me really sad to see that Neon get crushed. I have so many good memories riding with my dad when I was little. I haven't seen the Neon that my dad had when I was little for 8 years.

Not a converter, looks like a resonator. With all the old tech looks like a low productiion yard hard to justify a scorpion engine puller like we have. That loader sounds like it hasn't seen grease in years
Everything was probably seized on that van plus it looked pretty rotten underneath. There were some good parts on it though but probably not worth saving.
How do you fit that in a semi? Being all expanded like that when u crush it. I usually push the sides in and keep it on one side of the crusher to make it more cube like.

Its chassis ane frame are light and compact, parts are both cheap and accessible, it doesn't have too many unnecessary features or components to tear out, and it already relatively aerodynamic for its class. You have to learn to see potential and future strengths and values, not just apparent and current strengths and values. Also, you apparently haven't seen the specs of the Dodge Demon, if you don't think Chrysler has put out anything good since the 60's.

Usually they strip the vehicle whole, depending on the condition of parts, take off the wheels and tires and then crush the rest for scrap steel.
