    That last version is otherworldly. Sometimes when I see him perform I almost feel a surreal type of guilt. Like I'm seeing him crack himself wide open just for us. He seems to go to that other place his soul lives in and if you watch closely, you can see the transition when his songs end and he pops back to us in reality. His eyes open, refocus and that smile is kind of "oh, hey you're all still here with me"
    There are only so many who can take us with them to where they live in the music. There styles are quite different, but the only other performer who did that for me was Prince. It is an unspoken agreement to just come inside their heads and feel where they reside. It is our honor to be invited in. Thank you Sawyer.

    I totally want an album of him singing live. He is way, way too good to have someone mess with his style and sound like record companies do. He was born to do this. :)

    • @Newyorker9
      @Newyorker9  8 лет назад +2

      Dana so agree. Sawyer crafts Art. Most producers seem to just to make records. Kind of not the same thing. Thank you for watching and leaving your comment

      I honestly still have all of his live performances from the voice on a playlist. There is something so " real, real old timey" about his style and his voice has a quality that just blows me away. I listen to him all the time, he is honestly my favorite artist. I want a live album. Look at tesla's "5 man acoustical jam" it also was sooo much better live. But not as good as sawyer at all.,lol
      I really do believe he will be one of those artist like Bob Dylan, as in longevity. There is no one alive that compares to him at all. Not even his idol has that sound. :) OH, and I am old enough to be his grandma, so not just some girly crush comment here, really about that voice ;)

    • @afloyd2004

      Another grandma here. There is something other worldly about Sawyer. We'd go to every show if it was possible. Joni is one lucky lady and very nice as well. Some day my young grandchildren will be very pleased to have his autograph. We've never been in a fanclub before and we love music but we'll never let our membership lapse. We wouldn't take anything for our time at the Meet and Greets. I have the best picture of Sawyer looking at me with a "Who is this crazy lady" look. Poor kid must wonder about his older fans. It's strange how he has this unearthly ability to produce his sound and words to hold our attention and leave us always wanting to hear more.

  • @zenithj3815

    What an artist at 17! For him to have the guts to transform a song on the spot in front of a large audience at an iconic venue blows my mind. He's so deep into it behind that curtain of hair, he's just in another place. There's no ego about his looks; he IS music. Then there's that laugh at the end when he realizes what he's just done.. Thanks, Joni-I was waiting for this, and as usual, you came through with a great recording and edit.

    • @jillwoehrle1431
      @jillwoehrle1431 8 лет назад +7

      My thoughts exactly! Music is such a part of him, he has no fear of what others may think...total confidence in what he feels and rightly so. Talent like his is so rare and he's still a child! Sawyer, you're amazing.

      Very well said Zenith. Sawyer is amazing! Superb edit Joni. The ambience of the venue was well suited and contributed to the spiruality of the moment. Thankfully it was not one of those venues that has crazy colored lights, lol. Joni you are amazing as well. Thank you!

    He is so relax and down to earth, has his own style not competing with anyone, I think he didn't even care if he won the Voice or not, he's just having fun in living out his passion. Such a big star in his short life, amazing. I think I've watched almost all of his performance on here haha. I usualy don't even like songs like this but his I really like :)

    I'm so excited! Sawyer's performance. Listening and watching your video. Sawyer, strumming acoustic. sound perfect about this guitar. Sensitivity and inspiration. What I admire about Sawyer is that it transforms the song into magic. He floats in his musical universe. OMG ... so happy to have known this new talent. His job so important. Loved it! Thank you very much! Newyorker9. #TeamSawyer #Brazil #fan

    OMG! Over 8 mins. of pure bliss and chills! Sawyer just continues to blow my mind. How he transforms this song on the spot just showcases his originality and creativity. He is truly an artist for the ages! So, so happy you captured this moment, Joni, since it likely can't be repeated. Although... being Sawyer, he'd find a way to even better it, if that's possible! Another spectacular job, Joni. You know I love you and all that you do!

    • @zenithj3815
      @zenithj3815 8 лет назад +6

      Sadly, this improvisation cannot be exactly repeated. Sawyer said he doesn't know what he played and didn't even know as he played it. He's a true artist like a jazz musician, who seems to enjoy creating something unique each time the music moves through him. So happy Joni preserved it in high quality video! A live album is a must.

      Well thank you for answering! I think we all really appreciate what you do, you don't just record songs, you have good quality and editing and you actually help promote Sawyer's music. And your channel is a safe space where his fans can connect and express their opinions...I always see 'thoughtful' comments on your videos. It's an environment with mostly kind people who appreciate good music.

      Emajanti thank you for your kind words. I think this was a bold and intimate moment for Sawyer.
