I'm a 14-year-old girl, but I am in awe of the photography and cinematography in this season of your channel. You are such an inspiration to everyone who has the pleasure of watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, I am glad you are enjoying the series. I wish I had started taking photos and filming when I was 14, I was not good when I started but over time I improved a lot, people ask me how I got good at this, the answer is doing it over time consistently, again and again. If you want to do this 14 is the perfect age to start, knowing you'll become a lot better over time.
I thought I would add to it too, I started photography when i was around 15 with an old film slr camera taking pics at the drag races (im now nearly 40). Its something I have always loved but due to many reasons I didnt fully pursue it (i have a vast variety of interests) but even still i accidentally ended up becoming a published photographer for a magazine. NEVER underestimate what you can achieve if you enjoy something and are passionate about it, as when you love what you do it always shows in your work! Which is in my opinion why the video and photos in this channel are magnificent and are always such a pleasure to see :)
Joe, I’ve said it before, but what makes your work stand out is 1) you-your genuine cheer, easy-going manner, and sincere positivity, and 2) your editing. The number of clips matched so seamlessly to the feel-good music and voiceovers-best stuff on here! Thanks for being a bright spot to do many. Cheers!
I agree. I was never keen on going all the way to Australia from England, but now I’m saving these videos for when I ride a Himalayan along these beautiful trails.

Just watched this. Amazing. Sunday lunchtime here in a dull but dry County Antrim. I’m pulling the Himalayan out of it’s garage and goin on an adventure. For an hour or two anyway 😁 Love these vids👍
Yes this area of Australia is beautiful. Well the few episodes before this one I did get some heavier rain, but it should be dry from here as I travel north up the west coast of Australia.
Joe my next birthday is my sixtieth (Christ where has the time gone?), I live in the UK, fifty years ago my Dad's brother (my Uncle who's now in his eighties) left the UK with his wife to live in Whyalla in south Australia as he took up a job working for BHP as an electrician. I always wanted to go visit and learn about the life they had and visit my cousin too who I've only seen a couple of times in my life, alas one thing and another I never got to visit and experience your country first hand. Your films are really fascinating to me, I can at least get a real sense of the size and beauty of what Australia has to offer, I want to say a big thank you for sharing your travels, it's given me a real insight. Kudos to you for making the effort to get out there and explore. I've been a keen motorcyclist and photographer all my life so I can honestly appreciate what motivates and drives you, though in all honesty you do seem to like taking the most difficult terrain very often, lol. Thanks a lot for sharing these films I am enjoying them immensely, ride safe, cheers, Tony. PS My Australian cousin and his mates are motorbike crazy, I guess Australia offers the opportunity to explore in the true sense of the word, here in the UK we totally lack true wilderness!
Thanks mate, I'm glad the series gives you a little bit of an insight into to this vast island. haha yes I find the harder the track the less people have probably explored, a lot of the time there's not much at the other end, but occasionally you find a gem and it's worth it. Yes the island is big so there are so many places to explore.
Your air mattress reminds me of my first time using one, which was not all that long ago. Until July of this year I hadn't camped in forty years, so modcons like Jet Boil stoves, sporks, and air mattresses, were all new to me. The first night I was setting up camp in a city park not to far from the RE dealership, I had the tent set up, and the air mattress was next. The label said it was "self inflating," just open the valve and wait a bit, then close. Well, it inflated about half an inch and stopped, figuring that was it, I closed the valve. That first night was very, very, uncomfortable. The next morning I was back in the shop getting breakfast, and related my story over coffee with my mates. After they stopped laughing, I was informed there was no such thing as a self inflating mattress, at least not fully, that they all needed a few extra puffs to fill them. Live and learn. 🙄 Beautiful shots as always, looking forward to the next!
yes that self inflating haha. Mine wasn't self inflating, it was just very light and thin (cheap too) I gather it was main for nice flat smooth caravan park grass and a tent with a think base, not my super think tent base and me camping on rocks, sticks and all kinds of sharp objects to put holes in it, oh well see what I can find in Perth to replace it.
@@freewayproject in the US most camp sites use gravel for tent areas, not the most comfortable. 🙄 The commercial caravan sites are set up like theme parks, catering to caravans only. I much prefer a wild camp, but those are going away, land use is getting restricted more and more. Perhaps I need to crate the Himalayan up and come to Oz, the roads look amazing. 👍
@@terrycavender yes it seem we need to go further to be able to get into the wild. There is a lot of space over here to explore you're more than welcome 😀
Absolutely love your videos, Joe, thanks for sharing your adventures! As an anecdote, leeuwin in my native language (Dutch) means lioness, pronounced a bit like lay-win (with the emphasis on the last bit)
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. That's cool I didn't know Leeuwin meant that in Dutch, apparently I pronounced it wrong (like most names 😂) it seem it is Loo-win oh well, I am sure I'll butcher a lot more names.

It's iron mate. You'll start to see roads made of what the locals call Pea gravel. Little round marbles of rock with the same red ish colour. Watch the Pea gravel. It's literally like riding on marbles and rivals the sand for motorcycle challenges.

thanks mate, yes it is a great place to explore. I am sure it will, the one thing the mechanic said to me is as long as you keep the oil up and swap it out every 5000km with the oil filter then you should have no issues.
Nice one Joe. Last time I was at Margaret River the surf was 25 foot and blowing a gale, so we explored the area. Caves wineries, wineries, big trees. It's an amazing part of the world. Great video once again.

It looks like you went along Chesapeake Road. That is a very enjoyable road. As you have discovered there is a lot of excellent dirt roads along the south coast. As some else has mentioned, pea gravel is a feature. It can get a bit skatey on a bike. Another great video.
oh cool, I didn't see a sign but yes a very enjoyable. I had heard of the pea gravel from the old World Rally event that used to be in WA. I didn't come across any deep sections of it so was all good. I'd an amazing place to explore.
Drives me nuts seeing all these beautiful spaces -forests, beaches- and barely no one around. Living in the Netherlands, an overcrowded part of this world, I am sooo jealous 🙂 Just tell me that you're choosing your spots so that no other traveler comes into view?
There are some crowded location in Australia but as soon as you leave the cities or touristy spots, there is virtually no one around. All the location I have been at in the series that you see no one is because there is no one around. Australia is a big place with not that many people (25million people in Australia). If you google images the size of Australia compared to Europe you'll see how many European countries would fit inside Australia and I think there are around 750million people in Europe. So with less people in a large area it is normal not to see people when traveling by road.
Stunning series Joe! Appreciate all the effort you put in. What most people dont see is you setting up the shot, mounting cameras on a tripod, then riding off only then to return and pick up the gear etc 👍🙏
Awesome post ...your calm attitude and wonderful photography inspires me every time to get out on my Himalayan...as a bad sufferer of claustrophobia, I love to see caves on video and that one didint disappoint Australia is soo beautiful 🤗....Harry
Stunning again Joe, besides stunning road photography as always and really enjoyed tbe caves and seeing more of the Mageret river and surroundings. Maybe a few minutes per episode on the town the area for us out of towners who will never get there. Cheers Sean
Thanks mate glad you liked it. I was only in town when I went to the IGA, so it the only thing I saw, and I'm not really comfortable bring a camera out in front of people.
Hey there Joe, excellent video of your great land, thanks for sharing your amazing country with us all, two questions, we have a River here in this country that the water is yellow as yellow can be, just curious if you had a clear glass or bottle put some of that water in to see if it was indeed the water that was red or the River bed itself, just curious, next question is this a journey to your your great country or once you do that’s it, anyway again thanks for sharing. Rob
Thanks Rob, glad you enjoyed it. Yes it the water would be red, I found out it was the iron from the pea gravel in the area that makes the water red. There are many more rides to come in this country but also I am thinking of exploring some other countries in the future.
Took my Himy up through the tassie highland lakes yesterday. 440km round trip and i was destroyed. You must toughen up eventually i guess? Nice to see you are getting better weather. 27 and sunny here!
That sounds like fun, hopefully it wasn't too cold up there. Yes I guess the more you do it the more your body gets use to it. Yes it's always better in the sunshine.
Hey Joe, I have binged basically all your videos. I love them all - you go a few places I don't think I will be able to get to on mt MT-10, but it's all about "getting there" which makes it an adventure... right? The spot on the river in Omeo is what I plan on doing this coming season - Such a magic spot! (Any chance of a GPS or pin drop?) Keep up the great work!
Hey mate, glad you are enjoying the series, yes it awesome just to be out there, it doesn't matter what your on, it I only had a postie bike I'd still be out there (🤔 that sounds like fun) If you search in google in the map section: Hinnomunjie Bridge Camping Area
Cheers Joe. Another great episode. I've kinda got a pipe dream do this trip on my Himalayan.. some difficulty getting it from NZ though. I want to pop in and see a Mate that lives over the Darwin River. You going up that way?
Hey mate, John Doe Defender Mono Olive motorcycle jeans. They have armour in them and are abrasion-resistant aramid reinforcement. Also they are comfortable and as a bonus you don't look like an adventure rider. 😂
well I am keeping up my butchering of names of placesI thin I have about 25% correct and about 75% wrong I'll have to stick to just the text on screen. I guess I can't rely on google pronunciation anymore.
The fact that you talk about your tent in your mattress and you never stay with the bike is making this journey. All possible makes me turn to other videos to cover my interest.
Hi, thanks for watching, your comment was not clear to me, either you liked the video or for some reason it did not interested you because of the camping?. The video series is about my experience, as the title says "Solo" (I am traveling by myself) "motorbike" (the vehicle I am traveling on) "camping" (most of the time I am camping if it is possible) "adventure" (as nothing is planned, I discover things along the way). Each of the video in the series are different, some I spend most of the time on the motorbike when there is lots of riding to do, other videos I am exploring spending time off the bike, hiking, camping, swimming, surfing. I though the title was relatively clear, apologies if the title was not clear, I hope you find what you are looking for as there are so many wonder people making great videos on here, I sure you'll find it.
@@freewayproject I didn’t realize that it was a whole series. That’s probably why I saw no indication of what bike you were riding on. I do enjoy the camping and the traveling. thanks mate, glad you enjoyed that one. That cave was very big, there are a few others in the area like that one.
I would quite happily live in that part of WA.
same here it is stunning quite, plenty to explore.
It's just a high concentration of iron in the water
thanks mate, it was intriguing me.
It's great to make your grass really green!
Loving your thumbnails Joe, keep up the great work 😎
thanks, not sure if they are working that well though, apparently there is a whole science behind them, I just try to find a decent image to share :)
(Any chance of a GPS or pin drop?)
Keep up the great work!
Hey mate, glad you are enjoying the series, yes it awesome just to be out there, it doesn't matter what your on, it I only had a postie bike I'd still be out there (🤔 that sounds like fun)
If you search in google in the map section: Hinnomunjie Bridge Camping Area
Another great video. How many miles have you covered now on this trip? Very jealous! 😅
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it. Not sure how many miles I have ridden so far, at a guess maybe 8000km / 4900miles
@@freewayproject Excellent trip
Cheers Joe. Another great episode. I've kinda got a pipe dream do this trip on my Himalayan.. some difficulty getting it from NZ though. I want to pop in and see a Mate that lives over the Darwin River. You going up that way?
It is a fun trip to do. Yes if I head north I may as well go over the top.
OK, giant echidnas. Does that mean there were giant ants too ?
That would have kind of sucked, a few thousand large ant coming at you wouldn't be great.
I hope you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.
Great video how far up are you going in WA ?
Thanks mate glad you are enjoying the series. Probably all the way up and across.
Hey mate sent you a message on instagram
Hey mate, just wondering what pants your wearing😂
Hey mate, John Doe Defender Mono Olive motorcycle jeans. They have armour in them and are abrasion-resistant aramid reinforcement. Also they are comfortable and as a bonus you don't look like an adventure rider. 😂
Leeuwin = female lion 😉
Thanks for the information mate, very interesting. I wonder why it was named that?
⛰️🏕🚲
Thanks you, hope you enjoyed it.
It's pronounced Loowin.
well I am keeping up my butchering of names of placesI thin I have about 25% correct and about 75% wrong I'll have to stick to just the text on screen.
That’s why I watched the video. Glad to see you’re living your best life. Sorry if my response was blunt. Bad day at work. Hardly ever a bad day when you’re on the bike, good for you.! Thanks
@@rjeepster8640 All good, makes sense now. I do have a video on the bike if that interest you and one on the gear I used in the previous trip. Yes definitely great being on the bike puttering around exploring.
