Thank you for featuring our amazing cat (who's been outside for ours and we want him to come home already!) Ozy, as the cat of the week! We love your channel and Ozy appreciates the love. BTW - we lost our beloved Russian Blue, Leo, to FLV in 2018. He was the sweetest cat we've ever known...
I found it interesting that the Russian blues are the Mona Lisa of cats, as they seem to smile like her...But one intetesting fact I discovered myself, when my Russian Blue cat had some problems with her hair, is that her skin is actually blue. So their name might be not because of the coat color, but because of the skin.
My Mother-in-law loved animals, but my FIL never allowed them. When he passed away, my husband and I gave her a Russian Blue. She was so happy, but couldn't think of a good name for her. I told her that in Russia, they are also known as Archangel Blues, so she named her Angel. Angel was very loved and lived for 17 years.
I adopted a stray Russian Blue. He was such a lovely boy! While living as a stray, he mated with another stray-a tortoiseshell calico. She had a blue-cream calico. All beautiful and rare babies!
They're such gorgeous cats. I will admit, there are breeds of cats I would love to own. Russian Blues are one of them. For now, I have two lovely moggies.
I'm in love with Russian Blues. I had two gray kittens that could pass as Russian Blues. They were my babies especially the female i would carry her around like a baby. They had very unique names the female name was Ubido and the male was Kommissar. They are brother and sister. I miss them so much. Because of their color i fell in love with the Russian Blues
Mine is Sophie & was adopted as a 2 yr old a week before the shut down for the pandemic!! I am retired. That adoption worked out beautifully for us both as we became fast companions & she has plenty of love & security!!🧡
I was lucky enough to have 2 come into my life. I think one of the most interesting facts of the Russian Blue is how the eyes are yellow instead of blue as kittens. I do miss stroking those beautiful, velvety coats.
I just lost my baby, we were attached to each other and he helped me through my mom passing a few years ago. He had his shots and check ups, he did have seizures but not that often, he would go a year without one. He had 5 total. But one day he was having one to where he didn't move but the after affects were almost the same, he didn't know me. We rushed him to the ER and his blood work was so bad, we had no choice but to say goodbye he was suffering. He did not show one sign he was sick or in pain until that morning. I did read cats are like that. I lost my world. 😢😢😢 He was 8
We have a Russian blue. We literally found him on Craigslist and was given to us. His name is Bruno and is the most affectionate cat ever. He is truly the best, we didn’t feel the need to change his name but started calling him Bruno mars lol
My 15 yo daughter and I just adopted a 10 week old Russian Blue baby boy named Baloo (from jungle book), from a breeder in Ohio 4 days ago. Baloo is amazing. He has a 7.5 yo old canine sister Lulu, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and so far so good on their introductions. Baloo is a gorgeous kitty with the beautiful coat the breed is known for, SO SOFT! His eyes were light blue at birth and at just 10 weeks have a green ring around them. He is very curious and very vocal :)
Where at in Ohio? Thats where I live and I’m looking to get another Russian Blue. I am a hospice nurse and ended up adopting one of my patients Russian Blue who has recently passed. I instantly fell in love.
I recently adopted a new kitty and she has a beautiful gray blue coat. But she doesn't have any other specific characteristics: she has yellow eyes, short fur but not super thick, and she's very slender and tall. For some reason I'm fascinated to know if she has any Russian Blue in her genetics and how much. Couldn't care less about my own ancestry but I want a DNA kit for my cat lol.
I feed community cats, amongst them, there's a Russian Blue. Beautiful cats. How they become stray, beats me😢 even fancy cats get left behind 😭 I also fed a nebelung and Siamese, both were adopted. Shadow, the Russian Blue is a bit more feral, 1+year still working to make him friendly 🙏
Yes I know he isn't pure blood but he has the double coat and doesn't shed much as well as even though his mama was Turkish and black. His dad was solid white. Homozygous. I guess. He was lighter when a kitten but now put him in sunlight and he glows like liquid steel. Love me my Boy!
I had an adult Russian Blue with "ghost stripes." But you could only ever see them if the light caught his coat at the perfect angle. My Shadow passed on from urinary complications three years ago this past March.
I've got a Russian Blue a neighbor left with me when he moved and couldn't take him. I didn't know anything about this distinct breed before seeing it in Google. My Sammy is now Comrade Sammy. I've got to say he's very unique and will not let you ignore him. If you try to ignore him he will flex his paws and will reach out and grab you as you walk by. He's gentle and is careful not to dig his Claws in to you. Sometimes he'll chase me on his hind legs and grab me when I walk by him especially if he's sitting by his jar of treats meowing because he wants you to give him some. You'll get about one or two passes before he gets your attention. Sammy's very smart and pretty tough. He's my little Comrade B.M.F.'er
my Russian blue cat is named Russia he is funny and how we found him my dad was riding his bike home when he saw my cat he said that he was laying down in the shade and my cat looked like a babby pebble and when he found him he had a white spot on his neck and it is a hart on his neck and he has a heart near his private part and he was very skinny so we took him in and we fed him and gave him some cat milk and we had him for 5 months about to be 6 months and my parents are allergic to animals but when we got him we were not itching and that’s when we figured out that he is rare and he is a very sweet cat and in the middle of the night he goes on are dresser and he gets are Bret’s and he gets are sock and he bites them and kicks them and it’s funny that’s why I like me Russian blues
They are low maintenance, there's very little shedding even without brushing. We own 2 russian blue cats. For first time owners I suggest watching Jackson Galaxy videos on how to prepare for cat needs
In the syndicated comic strip “Breaking Cat News”, by Georgia Dunn, one of the characters is a Russian Blue called Mouse. She is the oldest cat in the strip, born in 1989. A mother and grandmother to many generations of kittens, she is now called Baba Mouse.
I learned about genes and yet I forgot what the words mean! (No one explain in the comments I have notes and I can google it) Thanks a lot Science classes 😅🤣
Never had a Russian Blue, but to any of you Warriors fans in the comments, tell me: Do you think that Bluestar was a Russian Blue, or was she just a blue cat?
@BPJD2004 i love Warriors books i have a few of them. I had to stop reading them because my eyesight is bad. I don't think they are in large print or audiobooks. So i can't help you with that one
Ayeee let’s go Warriors! I love Warriors and I am patiently waiting for the next book coming in November!!! 😆 Yeah BlueStar could probably count as a Russian Blue
I love your videos, but I gotta comment that most cats in this particular video are not Russian Blues. You had a few British short haired and then mostly just domestic blues. 😉
That's because that colouration is dubbed "blue" for any mammal. The reason why mammals have subdued colouration for their coats was because they were mostly nocturnal over the past 70-something million years.
Which of these Russian Blue facts did you find the most interesting? 🐈💙

I had one, named Mischka. She lived for 21 years.
Russian blue cats are adorable 😍.

Love your guys's content it's some of the best around you should do a video about Nebelung cats
🎉
I used to have one named Douglas. He had a lot of health problems unfortunately.
I'm sorry for your loss! 💔

I had a Russian blue cat that I adored
We did also. ❤️

My Russian Blue, Cecil, died early in January of this year. He was 22 years old.
So hard when that happens. I always console myself that I gave them a good home and a happy life. I'm sure that's the case for your boy too.
I like to think so, thanks.@@StAlphonsusHasAPosse
Beautiful cats
Good info! thanks 🤗😻😹😸😺
My Puff is the sweetest gray boy!
We have a kitty named Puff and we think she is at least part Russian Blue- coat, eyes, temper and all.
Long haired guy with golden eyes and wonderful purrsonality! He also loves to chase n return toys.
My girl Luna Bella was given to me. She is a mixed breed. Mostly Russian blue and white paws and socks.❤

Very cute story!
Russian Blues are beautiful
Mine is a sweet boy named Tom. He has one eye, loves to eat and cuddle.
Would you recommend them for 1st time cat owners? How low maintenance are they? Can they get along with other cats such as adopting 2 sisters?
They are low maintenance, there's very little shedding even without brushing. We own 2 russian blue cats. For first time owners I suggest watching Jackson Galaxy videos on how to prepare for cat needs
near my area there's a mix breed russian blue community cat ^ ^ he alw rolls on the floor

Ozzy is a macho cat😂
Thank you from Ozy's family! God Bless
Penso che sia una razza così affascinante e se riducono al minimo le allergie ancora meglio
I have one

The best hunters!! And taste much better than gingers
These blue cats look black and grey to me

I am allergic to my cat.
