This relates to Howie's opinion, and these expectations tend to overshadow all the other remarkable aspects of his singing: his incredible dynamics, mesmerizing riffs and runs, beautiful vibrattos, his rich mixed voice, and much more. I believe it would greatly benefit Gabriel's career if he starts exploring more songs where he doesn't rely on the whistle voice. This would help people realize that it's just one facet of his exceptional talent, the icing on the top, rather than the sole defining feature.

My point is that Gabriel may not always deliver what the audience expects, such his wonderful whistles and very high notes, in order to encourage them to appreciate all the other remarkable aspects of his voice. It's like not always serving dessert to a child, so they can start appreciating all the other flavors on the menu; otherwise, they will only want to eat the dessert.
