My wife and I are watching Masters of the Air right now and you couldn't pay me enough to get in one of those death traps. One of the most deadly positions in the US military during WW2
The term "critical mass" comes from the Manhattan Project. It is the minimum amount of fissile material needed to creation a self-sustaining reaction (the nuclear explosion part). Strategy games just took the term for themselves.
Regarding engines. You always want the best engine and you always want as few engines as possible. Engines usually are about 60-80% of the cost of the plane, light planes with one engine have the smallest fraction, arge planes have a larger fraction. Mostly you can successfully design a useful plane with 1-2-4 engines depending on hull. You always want to upgrade your engines to the highest tier since higher tier engines give alot of speed and speed kills in this game. Every 100 kp/h increases your damage by 2.5%, so a 600 kp/h plane does 15% extra damage. Furthermore, any speed advantage gives 65% extra damage, so if you go twice as fast you do 65% extra damage. If enemy fighters are going 600 and you are going 300 they are doing 80% extra damage to you. That 3xquad heavy machine gun fighter is getting 9 extra heavy machine guns to add to iit's 12 just from speed. 1. Keep your engines as few as possible to save cost 2. Always use the best engine
Close to 5000 hours in game yet I was today years old when I learned you can click to permanently show the mission stat effects instead of just hovering over them and memorizing
@@SangoProductions213 in the plane designer there are some stats that you can only see when you specify which mission the plane will be flying in. So for CAS it doesn’t show ground attack on the stat card unless you hover your mouse over the ground support mission. I learned three weeks ago that you don’t have to hover your cursor over the mission, you can just click it and it will stay highlighted I apologize for how bad I am at explaining things lol
Good video! One thing that you seemed to have have glanced over, is the night-penalty reduction by the radars. Radio navigation II gives a -20% penalty by default (which I use on almost all of my aircraft), and the air-ground radar for a -40% reduction when strat bombing, for a total of -60%! That's an even bigger bonus than the left doctrine path :)
I've tested the night bomber strat and its very effective because they're only bombing half of the day you end up hitting 50% less targets which defeats the whole purpose of making the big bombers
Could have added a segment for heavy naval bomber. Pretty strong especially in the pacific cause you get crazy range and only 10 plane groups instead of 100 so you can spread them out well.
I feel like strat bomber, everything made from medium airframe, and navy are useless bc all of them can literally be subtitute with '4000 light airframes'. maybe something like the 'positioning' value from navy for planes?
I use a Torp+Recon+Big Bomb 1936 large frame with hidro+double Hmg turret+self sealing+two modules for more Strat Bomb...and Piaggio mío from Italy...With this you have Air wings of 10 , and you can PATROL , SCOUT and Light Strat Bomb (24 to 30 Strat ) , all in one design.
Believe it or not dude but Canada gains huge bonuses to strategic bombing more than America and u can pump them out nicely I played the airforce as the allies and was absolutely smoking the germens everywhere they went. Canada gets insane cost reduction also up to 70% through focus tree, plus all the damage buffs. Plus if you prioritize targets the crosshair beside the strategic bombing button, and target just railroads and supply dumps they are almost just as good as CAS doing logistical strikes.
IMO, tactical bomber (and medium airframe in general) are better than strat bomber because they have more module option available. As USA, you could make "super naval bomber" by adding torpedoes and range so they could reach the entirerity of pacific air zones. Usually I'm only going to research up to basic large airframe after I have nukes. Also, you could get radio navs II in early 40's and I think it's better to equip radio only than both radio and bomb sight. equipped.
use the 1st bomber with no modules except non strategic materials and maybe range improvements. You can't drop a nuke unless you have air superiority, they do not need to run missions, just be on an airway until you can push the button. Cheap cheap cheap

@FeedbackIRL maybe you should make a definitive guide? As ive said there's remarkably little on RUclips explaining the various doctrines in anything but very vague terms
This may be a dumb question, but if you spam good fighters, doesn't the air defence/attack of your strat bombers become meaningless? In that case, would it not be better to start producing strat bombers with lower defense right away, and only use them once your fighters have done significant damage to the enemy air force?
Wouldn’t it make sence to have two models, one with airdefence that can bomb the aurpords and one’s there destroied and they can’t project airsuperiority you can bomb the industie with a more bombing focused plane that has less armor

其實看引擎的承重能力,除了防禦以外 其他幾乎都沒有效用了( 也只能裝兩個大型炸彈)
也就是升級一次做好全部了、防禦就直接拉油箱強化,基本上沒有四把機砲打不下來
