  • Winter stockpile grazing practice explained in detail. With our daily strip grazing practices we are focused on allowing the bulls a full meal of forage by taking the top part of the plants. We have left over 50% of the forage with each grazing pass which allows us to come back again in 60 days and get another grazing period. By back fencing we are not allowing the bulls back on the same ground they were on the day before. Regenerative grazing at it's best!

    Just got by first fiberglass posts to put in high tensile in one of pastures~
    Diversified farm in northeast Nebraska. Cattle and grain, currently transitioning to organic grain production. Man, it’s fascinating to see the soil biology come a live, seeing the difference between my gmo fields and organic. The corn leaves and husks started breaking down within weeks after harvest in my organic fields. In my gmo fields you can find cobs and stalks from 2 years ago. Cover crops, trace minerals, shallow incorporation of cover crops. Still more damage when compared to my cattle, but there is a biological difference for sure!

    On the way to your place Scott was evaluating fields! By the way he loves the Greg Judy Bale Unroller! Scott and his dad disagreed on mowing around the house.

    Deer haven. Greg back in May at your grazing school when I left at the end of the day, I saw several does out feeding in your neighboring pastures. It's amazing that you harvest as many as you do? I thought getting 6 deer for the freezer is considered a lot? Love that venison.😋

      We counted two herds of over 20 last year and that was after deer season. The deer population is exploding. I counted 23 dead deer hit on the highway yesterday going to town, that was on a 30-mile drive.

    Thanks for the video! Why mow when you have animals too. What a waste of fuel, time, and wear and tear on the tractor. I’m going have huge work day tomorrow. Going to work on my fence.

      They mow it off, bale it, and sell it, because hay prices, due to the drought in the area, are through the roof.

    Greg, I've been learning a lot about beavers lately and how they create water habitats for wildlife, even in drought years. Do you have any on your streams? Seems to me it would be a great addition to your efforts to combat global warming! Nothing regenerates the land like pure water, and somehow even the fish come back to these ponds the beaver create-and all for free. It's quite remarkable!

      We have them on one creek area that has a long deep hole of water in it. We also have them in one lake.

      @@gregjudyregenerativerancher Glad to hear it! If I know beavers, there will be more, and they will enhance your ability to have lush grasses and forbs for your animals, not to mention they create wetlands that cool the planet and increase rainfall!

    Greg are you concerned that a 6ft or 4ft perimeter fence would stop the Deer🦌 from running their traditional path thru the property.🤔

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  11 месяцев назад +1

      A 6’ fence would stop most deer around here. I never build them over 46” tall, I actually prefer a 42” height. No deer get caught up in our wire this way. If you have a cow that jumps a 42” fence, she belongs in a salebarn.

      It’s called government welfare, they always line up for their cheese money with every drought. This teaches farmers not to think, they always get baled out by the taxpayer.
