  • From Season 17 of Walt Disney's Disneyland Anthology program we have Episode 18: The Boy from Dead Man's Bayou, Part 1 which originally aired on February 7th, 1971. A murky and mysterious Louisiana bayou is the setting for this tale of a missing sliver bell and the dangers two boys face in recovering it. Years earlier a hurricane had ripped the bell loose from a church steeple and hurled it into Dead Man's Bayou, where a giant alligator lies in wait for those who would dive for it. Starring John McIntire as Father Boudreau, Mitch Vogel as Jeannot, Frank Silvera as Uncle Maxim, Jeanette Nolan as Aunt Louise, Percy Rodrigues as Charbot, Vito Scotti as Mr. Bob, Marcel Hillaire as M. Verret, Mike Lookinland as Claude, Paul Fix as Captain Pierre, Michael Ontkean as Alcide and Brad David as Philippe.

    I auditioned for this movie when i was 11. they sent myself and another Louisiana boy to Disney studios to try out… was a great experience. They said we did great but was “safer” to use professional actors….

    Thank you for cataloging these treasures. I actually got to watch some of the filming of this movie as a young boy. Brings back great memories

      @@billiefurlow1585 Caddo Lake, Uncertain Texas. Disney had a film set here and filmed a number of movies there

      @@robertspeight6460 I’m thinking of a Wonderful World of Disney tv movie set in Acadiana with a ghost of a little Creole or Cajun girl. Would have aired in the early or mid 70s when I was a nipper. Do you know what this might have been?

    I wish Disney had more of the older movies like Monkeys Go Home ,Savage Sam, ETC and the ones on Wonderful World of Color for us Baby- Boomer generation who enjoyed them when we were kids

    his time and his teams stories always were with clear graph of storytelling and on non luche tracks:) but I am modern LOL slightly luchi:) but of course times change and my generation far more accepting of truths of life and sexuality is the life force, narrating it with finesse , not sleaze Porn rather than shunning it.
