996 TT and GT series do not use the IMS bearing that you are referring to. Turbo and GT series use a more traditional oil-fed bearing. You don't know as much as you think.
My dad's not one..and we aren't "rich" either, just middle class :) and my god..this car is insane. Maintanence isn't bad at all on these cars.you can never go wrong with german automobiles... especially Porsche
996 Turbo S - the genuine farewell 2005 model (with bigger factory turbos, 450BHP and a re-map) is the Ultimate. They still go for serious money £45-£50k and are likely to go up in price. Better cars than the 997 version and more desirable by some distance. You can tell one by the yellow ceramics.
The birth of the modern supercar as we know it. Today every supercar out there tries to achieve the efficiency and do the things this did 10 years ago.
@ricardhoamorim Don't give up on owning one mate, I had to wait till I was 45 but I now have my 3rd. I had a C4 first then a 996 tt tiptronic and now a manual. Don't stop dreaming
I miss these kinds of promotional videos. I think the last one they made was on the original 991 Carrera models. Although, my favorite would have to belong to the 997 GT2.
i was lucky enough to drive a 996 turbo, they are soooooooo fast, the way it brakes, accelerates and grips is amazing,a true spercar expierence,i hated getting back in my 205gti afterwards ha
Wow aren't you special. I will take the one I can afford. 28 working on a 996 turbo. 993 is great, but hell the prices are crazy. 997 turbo is easily the best though. Extremely reliable.
So would you still say these cars (996TT) is still worth paying $35000 in great condition/decent mileage? I don't know if paying 50K or more for a used 997 TT is worth the extra 15K or more.
@4raise That's interesting since Top Gear tested the M6 (505hp; LIGHTER than M5) and it got SMOKED by a 385 hp Carrera 2S on the Isle of Man TT Course. I am sure If I were driving MY 996 Turbo Cab (X50, 450hp) and Sabine Schmitz were driving an M5, She'd crush me. Her driving both, giving some standardization to the competition? No way in hell the M5 wins. Simple physics: lbs/bhp, friction (contact patch), Center of Gravity, and downforce ALL favor the Turbo. You probably say "porsch" too..
Well as far as concern European market, crisis has a moderate to a heavy affect on prices, depends the country. So i think BlueBook is not that reliable. Even in the US market, depreciation has become a great factor for potential buyers. I know a guy with a 2008 997 GT2 priced at 249$K plus lots of extras, cant get 125k, for months now. I consider 996TT as the top bargain sports car in the market today.
my man ,,, porsche = german quality ,,, the best quality that a car can have ,,, what sense has a ferrari that takes fire on the road ,,, and costs 200.000 $ more ,,, look at 911 ,,, that's a real car.
Salt Lake is where they filmed it. I bet if one of those variable CAM thingamegiggers breaks.. you go broke trying to fix this thing. Great looking car, but I feel like I would need a dedicated Porsche Team of Engineers to keep it going
18 years later I still love driving mine.
I love it, because I own one :-)
Me too!
You own one, because you love it
Porche number 1!
i got one too ... this car is built like a rock. never breaks.
Great Video, I come from a 2006 VW GTI Turbo and it was a great Car, Sold it and now own a 2003 Porsche 911 TURBO with 600HP and I'm very, very happy.
I had one for three years and it was STRONG
Older 911s look organic and clean, newer ones got too much holes. It used to be small too.
This video is gonna make me put so many miles on my Porsche this year OMG!!! :o
I love it because of depreciation 35k mile turbo rocket ship for 40k can't beat it.
Istayfly Always exactly! A lot of car for the money!
Thank you so much for putting this up :)
996 TT and GT series do not use the IMS bearing that you are referring to. Turbo and GT series use a more traditional oil-fed bearing. You don't know as much as you think.
My dream car.
thanks for the video!!! 👍👏👏
Porsche is just amazing! Always at the top! Why the Germans so damn clever?
My dad's not one..and we aren't "rich" either, just middle class :) and my god..this car is insane. Maintanence isn't bad at all on these cars.you can never go wrong with german automobiles... especially Porsche
Actually 996 Turbo is cheaper to maintain compareed to non-turbo models, thanks to Metzger's 3.6 installed in one of those.
4 weeks to drive my own one ! Can't wait
have you still got it
@@techinhd3993 yes ❤️
The music is great with this car

wow, I'll take them both!, yum yum yum
it's very subjective. i like 996 more than 993

Great commercial now it's time to buy one

Thats why I'm never selling mine(:
Yep, that's why I'm never selling either, I'm so satisfied I can't even tell you! :)
I lost my licence in the cabriolet version of this the other day. It keeps making you go faster and faster. Ridiculously evil, really.
Would you say Kelley's BlueBook to be a good guide to look for a used Porsche, or is there better methods?
my favorite car of all time! truly in my opinion the fastest legal car on the road the sound of the turbos are amazing.
The poetry of Baudelaire is a necessity of life.

I don't intuitively expect the window buttons to be by the handbrake handle!
Here's my beauty
Nothing feels, sounds and drives like a 996 turbo, nothing
I just bought one!!
I just sold my 4s looking for one like this. In contrast to normal ones, these are rare to find in good condition
Wow aren't you special. I will take the one I can afford. 28 working on a 996 turbo. 993 is great, but hell the prices are crazy. 997 turbo is easily the best though. Extremely reliable.
same, is that a big deal?
I finally get this machine :D

Why the sand / dirt?
you are referring to the 996 n/a engine. 996TT uses a different technology.
911 Cabriolet. Genuine rival to the 911 Turbo.
@porschecarreragtmay6
...or 450bhp N/A 3.8 from a GT3 RS. OMG!

you are a middle aged man. :)
Hahahah, oh yeah?
@HENRYHOBBS1 life sucks
Rich parents?
Why is the 964 a bad looking 911?
I'm 21 and I don't have one
Salt Lake is where they filmed it.

Not sure about owning those cars considering you can't speed on roads...unless you're in Europe lol.
boring
I love porches but t think this is the worst front end design on 911's
OH GOOD! I WAS WONDERING ABOUT A ‘ROLL CAGE’ POPPER
LIKE # 600 😅
18 years later I still love driving mine.
