I love that you build this car for yourself and share it for everyone else. It’s refreshing to see something that’s not just built for the views and the clout. A real, honest build, that you can feel the passion emanating from.
One thing is having a perfect car like you have, second is driving it hard and enjoying the crap out of it. You are doing great, sir. These are just battle scars that add character.
my stepdad always maintained that you have to be careful how perfect you want a car to be... they're made to be driven. some love marks are absolutely fine. That car is gorgeous.. so glad you're driving it and not just stowing it for pics and car meets! It always gives me a thrill seeing something that gorgeous just mobbing down the road! cheers from cali
Spidey c unts. That's how long I have been here. I still remember the restaurant I was in where I found the first recommended video. Great times mate. I am so happy to see it done and has been drivin. Neil. Great job. And to the boys. Salute. Thanks for all the great entertainment and the journey.
Actual rings lad! Such a joy to see the car being used, and so glad that was always the intent behind it too! The detail about the japanese number plate is brilliant. All of us have some quirks about how we'd do our dream build, we understand
All in all mate, you’re still living the dream!! Stoked to see how well it’s going and how much you’re loving it. Can’t wait for the ke70 content either
I had a noisey diff in my 86 for about 4 years before I fixed. Couldn't have a conversation in the car it was soo loud. I love the build and I love this channel. Can't wait for more 86 content! Keep up the great work!
I enjoy these extremely . That exhaust manifold is nice is it custom? If anybody is listening oem 90' s Hondas had a good resonator any about a minium foot long take out a lot of the raspin. Any yea love these videos
So good seeing you drive it after so much time working on it, cars are meant to be driven and they’re going to pick up some dings and dents along the way
I have over AUD$50k in my 67 Corolla restoration. It hurts at first seeing the bumps and chips over the years, but I've learnt to stand back and appreciate how lovely she is. You're spot on, drive and enjoy!
As a fellow TecArts intake Trueno person, that induction noise never gets old....even from the 16v on mine. Have same, slightly noisy diff, but it's part of the fun. They all have things going on, that's just an 86. Mine is it getting hot, I need to rework the cooling to be setup better for summer here in Aus. Paint wise, I gave up the drying side, I wash it with Geon Bathe+, then rinse, take it for a drive at 100kph and dry! Haha. That way no towels needed to touch it. On the diff, I found Royal Purple diff gear oil quietened the diff down some what. Keep driving it man, it took some time once on the road to truly enjoy mine.
The essence that you captured building the AE86 is perfect. Like down to the small details finding where the car came from with plates. Don't think it's cringe. It's awesome that you spent the the time to find the small details. Keep it up Neil!
Definitely, cars have to be enjoyed! Here in Italy, people call us crazy because we want to use an Integra DC2 as a track car... Awesome video as always! We hope one day we'll be able to own an 86 as well!
Rings Laaaaad!!! Don't ever stop nerding out about the fine and obscure details of AE86s. The research you put in to finding out production numbers a few years back is still some of the best AE86 sleuthing I've seen.
I still remember getting my first ding on my door after getting my Z freshly painted. I just smiled because I knew that it was time to just enjoy the car. Its had several more dings and scratches since then but it still breaks necks where ever it goes.
Black is nice but hell to keep perfect. I'm really happy that you have got to enjoy your dreamcar. Keep it going and enjoy it. You inspire people like me with a still unfinished project car to get it done and the present for hard work and sacrifices is to get enjoy the car. That must feel good.
Fella - I am so proud of what you have achieved - bravo for just driving it! It sounds amazing. Windscreen washers - get nozzles from a car designed for under bonnet mounting - Mk4 or Mk5 Golf are this type of- experiment with angle, then get a mount made in 3D printed.
I smiled so much, I’m so happy for you mate! I’ve been here since it was just the blog, my Impreza has been dormant for 5 years now after having a kid but I’m living my car dreams through you👍
What a sound. Not even three seconds in and I am moist 😂 Your mindset on these little setbacks and mishaps is really motivating too, mate. Makes me want to keep looking after my car yet still drive it with a big smile.
Mate what an awesome video. I've been around here since before you picked it up out of the bushes. So glad you're over the moon with your build and I love all the "nerdy" details you have for your dream car. Love the RINGS LADS great ending for the "build" chapter
Neil! Mate 0:53 onwards! 🔊🔊 The Sound is Absolutely Amazing!! Congrats Brother! Yes, I hear you about the other things that need attention now... It is what it is! Yes, the chips n burnt paint, hurt, but on the plus side, they're evidence that you're driving it💪 Enjoy it YAASS RIIINGS LAAAD!! 🇦🇺
Awh man sounds savage, I personally think that all the little noises and things add to the character of it, I love it, and this video has been a long time coming, can't wait to see what else ya have in store for the channel, buzzin for it😁🙌
The car looks and sounds amazing, and even tho ur giving out about things on the car you are still smiling. But great video really enjoyed the process and glad to see u happy
Absolutely class Neil even the sound of it just calmed me down had a shite day today but this made it better 🎉 , look forward to seeing you and the car again soon
Car looks and sounds amazing brother, so happy to see you enjoying it! I got a TRD flywheel and clutch for an absolute steal here in New Zealand. Came with the ke70 shell when i brought it, so naturally I've got no idea on how rare or expensive that particular combo is. But I will say its done me really well and feels amazing, not to heavy on the foot but still has plenty of clamoung force. I've been collecting crown wheels and pinions and that seems to be the one thing I've broken plenty of whilst giving the car absolute DEATH 😂. Hope you get her all fixed up soon 👍🙏🔥
Love seeing you really use this car, it's super cool. With the windscreen washer jets you could get the ones which clip onto the wiper arms to save you drilling into the bonnet!
Such a cool video . These are great cars . I recommend a 2 .25 exhaust pipe with a muffler under or slightly behind where the shifter sits on the shift tunnel . And nothing else . And maybe a resonater infront of the muff. Good job you put together an epically cool car .
This is the video I’ve been waiting for! How buzzing are you Neil knowing you got that sat in the shed waiting to be ragged whenever you’re ready!! 😎 Ps it is too low😬
Love how the ignition key has never changed, such a credit ta ya man and it just shows perfection does take time 👌🏻 well done man looking forward to seen your next built, hopefully see alot more of flip and co building cars also😁 also Ruben needs to start converting the bus 😅
Hey, don't sweat it too bad. Debugging is a part of every build. When you finish all the little things, that's when you start having fun and gelling with it. Protect it as best you can and then drive it like you stole it. My bro has an amazing one and he went throu what your going throu. He loves it more and more year after year. He can't wait til summer every year to track it with all his bros.
If you don't want to drill the bonnet for the washer jets Neil, You can get some that mount to the wiper arms (Oem on some cars that I forget). The look of extended piping running up to them would be the compromise as it adds a bit of clutter, but still.. Car's still looking top notch. Glad you're enjoying the fruits of all that misery during the build. 👍🏾
there's got to be a way to ger les loud diffs on these cars hahaha loving the kanagawa license plate detal and loving seeing you enjoying it after all these years!
We all age, and so do our cars. We gather scars, and so do they. Soon the scratches and dings will be memories you revisit - whether its here on the channel, in the blog, or shared with friends. You couldn’t be more right when you say, 'It’s all part of the story,' and with that, thank you for sharing it with us.
Hell yeah, just need to drive it an enjoy it. I won't lie it hurts when things get damaged being driven. My GT-Apex took a fat rock chip driving on the "bronze" polarized glass last month. But hey, it also got a nice ding on the quarter from someone knocking something over in my garage. Might as well make the memories instead of keeping it parked!
The fact you spent so much time, effort and money into this car and it still has issues is kind of reasuring because im building my K swap Civic and i'm loosing the will to live every time i find a new issue that needs £200 throwing at it, I'm not even going to bother getting it painted because of the price and i'd loose my shit if a fox ran out on it lol but I guess we obsess over all the battle scars on the kanjo civics, your just simply putting the scars on yours. Legit RUclips channels like you and Mighty Car Mods who actually have morals and don't just take money off scumbag sponsors are pretty much keeping me going these days. Even Driftgames have fucking Temu ads now and it honestly just makes me want to tune out because I know there's better channels out there like yours. Never change Neil, you are legit my favourate person to watch on this entire website and i'm sure i'm not alone. I'd legit kill a man for a bunch of friends and a shed like you boys have. Seeing that car do rings in surreal for me so I can't imagine what it's like for you.
That road from Kill to the Waterford road on a cold dry night in anything with a decent amount of power is the most enjoyable spin ever! Brought back so many memories in my Ee9 :)
The car is beautiful. Not to piss on your parade, it's cool to have a plate from where the car is from in Japan. Shonan plates were not introduced until October 31 1994. Well after the final AE86 was sold new. It probably would have had a 相模 (Sagami) number plate when it was brand new.
Project car driving is full on anxiety and paranoia forever LOL Its 8 years since i rebuilt the evo and i still worry something might break but the joy i get when i driving it is unmatched.
Absolutely drive it and send it on but a bubble for the times it’s sitting around will save it for many more years. Worth the purchase and after all that hard work getting it to where it is
For detailing, do what you're doing but when drying you need a leaf blower so it's no touch and ceramic coating will help. Ppf is good but need to redo it every 3-5 depending how much sub it sees. A standard exedy OEM replacement and a lighter flywheel is more than enough for a 4ag. Single plate you get used to over time but daily has never been great. Add an oil cooler as well to prolong the motor if you don't have already..I can't remember if you did that already
The ceramic coat will help with the swirls from drying it’s not hard or expensive. Some stec PPF just on the high impact areas, the mirrors, the front bumper and the area in by the rear wheels will stop so many of the stone chips and isn’t a huge expense but helps with the chips on the paint.
The dings and dents just happen. After my brother did a similar (but obviously less detailed) rebuild of his starlet, on the first drive to the pump, the f'ing pump handle flies off the stand as he puts it back and it bangs right into the side of the car and left a massive dent. It had driven for all but 10 minutes. But here I am 10+ years later still talking about it.
Man Neil its been such a great adventure watching this build and sharing with us has been amazing but holy shit that's a gorgeous looking car you nailed it. Sounds epic but yea black is hard enough as it is and things will happen unfortunately enjoy that car👍
@juiceboxforyou but those wounds can heal its fixable , its unfortunate as much as we try to keep our cars in the best shape parking it away from other cars just so some idiot that doesn't realize or doesn't care about such sentimental value and the time, passion ,dedication ,financially and finding parts alone is not easy some people don't understand and specially car shows i don't blame the kids you know they're excited its the parents that don't care or people with bags chained purses then you have those idiots that are willing to try and take a part or case is could be a shift knob , Broadway mirror or a damn squash air freshener. It's like really I'd put a fencewire around the car and just hide a tazer behind your back 🤣
@ just like the guy below mentioned about going to Ireland my friends mom is in charge of the damn cruise or whatever she owns property out there I live in Arizona iv seen plenty of castles in my youth but how do I get a hold of you guys 😂
4AG is one of the all time great intake noises! Never be afraid of using the car and creating memories. So many people buy cars now as assets and never use them. Every chip, scratch and small mishap is a story. I forgot to do my bonnet pins up once on my ek9 and it flew up, smashed the screen and dented the roof! That was prob over 10 years ago and after a new screen the roof is still dented to this day. Stories are what it’s all about. Good or bad
As a fellow intake noise enjoyer, that first couple minutes of pure driving was epic.
THE FEELS!
Looks fucking amazing leave it low its what you want bro
Damn, now i need to go to Ireland at some point, my wife wants to go to see the castles and old buildings, we all know why i want to go 🤣
Far too many forget to actually enjoy their cars, this is the way¡
I love that you build this car for yourself and share it for everyone else. It’s refreshing to see something that’s not just built for the views and the clout. A real, honest build, that you can feel the passion emanating from.
One thing is having a perfect car like you have, second is driving it hard and enjoying the crap out of it. You are doing great, sir. These are just battle scars that add character.
totally agree, this car is too good to keep in a shed.
you will always earn my respect to DRIVE a car more than you build it, as you said battle scars add character and prove your enjoying it.
After like 10 years almost finally get to see Neil do some rings casually. Been waiting for this video for a long time
So nice to see someone be honest about their project, there's always issues to sort after a build.
my stepdad always maintained that you have to be careful how perfect you want a car to be... they're made to be driven. some love marks are absolutely fine. All in all mate, you’re still living the dream!! Stoked to see how well it’s going and how much you’re loving it. Can’t wait for the ke70 content either

Did anybody else get the pyramid oem gts rims, do you remember those .
Finally seeing the 86 complete feels so right. From the old rustbox to a beautifully crafted four wheel art. 😭
I enjoy these extremely . That exhaust manifold is nice is it custom? If anybody is listening oem 90' s Hondas had a good resonator any about a minium foot long take out a lot of the raspin. Any yea love these videos
@@JMorganBowenThe rasp is the best part of the sound.
@LuckyFruitRacing have you ever heard of a "thrush muffler" . Love the logo for them .
@@JMorganBowen sounds itchy
@LuckyFruitRacing ruclips.net/video/q6rcRuSk6lk/видео.htmlsi=ipUdBnUSZFldZhw4 this one is not as loud as the og "cherry bomb" thrush.

WOW that intro had me peaking LOL, Neil I'd be in heaven if I had your 86 it's pure misery and joy all rolled into 1 :).

You are a legend for keeping it real. Use it as it was intended, enjoying the hell out of it

I guess we build them to enjoy. As I said in the video, I feel like I need to make up for the seven year build.
Watched you work on the shell for years and gotta say it's awesome to see it complete now!
You have built and driven your car being honest with its battle scars its a breath of fresh air on youtube.
Keep living the dream matey! Love all your content, thanks from South Africa 👍

Yo after watching all of the videos seeing you out enjoying it and being honest about it not being perfect yet makes me happy for you 👏🏻👏🏻👌👍

Isuzu NPR trucks have those washers on the wiper blades, don't know if they can be swapped over to other wipers though.
After all this you still keep saying: drive your car; love it. You are a real one.
there's got to be a way to ger les loud diffs on these cars hahaha

I have the same kind of seal on my Hustler and went just as nerdy with the prefecture. It's not nerdy, it's a great touch...

also i have never heard the term "pisser jet" in my life
Yeah for sure, im happy letting this age gracefully
Beautiful car mate. Never really saw many AE86 growing up in 80s/90s England.
Drive the hell out of it then restore later if you feel the need.
Great to see you enjoying the labour of love :)

I think the coolest part about some of the cars we love ( goodline 86 , hariguchy fc etc) is how used they were .
Yours is just the same
Absolutely fitted m8. Looking very exquisite🔥
Just drive it and enjoy it ...fucking beautiful don't worry about the lil things love ya Neil
"Just finished the car, broke $hi# and have to spend a couple thousand on drive line" 😂😂 welcome to the 86 life Niel! The never ending investment. ❤
Yep its just endless misery!
Just unreal, keep on pushing!!!
Beautiful car dude, hard to believe what it looked like when you rescued it.
6 Months in, 6 Years & 6 Months to go. So happy seeing you enjoy the car, after a long wait.
Nice touches. Overexposed reverse out the garage with raw sound. Induction noises. Old action video vibes. Skate and BMX kine. 😶🌫️💨🤙
Haha, yeah, wanted it to feel like an older video!
The car is beautiful.
Not to piss on your parade, it's cool to have a plate from where the car is from in Japan. Shonan plates were not introduced until October 31 1994. Well after the final AE86 was sold new.

Take that Neil!
I love the nerdyness, and the wormholeness, my friends think I’m weird because I do the same exact thing 😂
first bit of the video was top tier man id take an hour(s) long video of just whipping around like that lol
Project car driving is full on anxiety and paranoia forever LOL Its 8 years since i rebuilt the evo and i still worry something might break but the joy i get when i driving it is unmatched.
hahahaha yeah loads of new noises, its a fun process getting used to them
Thank you for not putting music over the first part of this video!!
Absolutely drive it and send it on but a bubble for the times it’s sitting around will save it for many more years. Worth the purchase and after all that hard work getting it to where it is

@ wow nice. do you ride much?
Man Neil its been such a great adventure watching this build and sharing with us has been amazing but holy shit that's a gorgeous looking car you nailed it. Sounds epic but yea black is hard enough as it is and things will happen unfortunately enjoy that car👍
Sure is, all part of it I guess!
Good or bad
RRRRRRRUUUUAARRRR! thats all i needed to hear fella
