Before Chelsea sign any new players, they first need to offload a load. So who should they sell?
But as JJ Bull finds out, getting rid of the players that are sellable leaves their squad unbalanced.

The reason Sensible Transfers was a huge success in the past was the wide variety of new options that you used to provide instead of the same names that get circulated around. I do not mind the current format but I hope we can get some variety player suggestions.
Agreed. I loved watching it because it introduced me to new players and also helped me understand a team's style of play. But now I might as well just scroll through my twitter feed.
Still ❤ tifo tho
Series has gone to the dogs if this and the utd video are anything to go by :/
It was probably expensive to produce with all the animations, but it was way more entertaining, even if it's still good as it is
@@luccass6793 They don't need to go back to animations, they can continue this format itself. The only addition I would love is to add some interesting options alongside the routine ones.
I'm thinking they've trimmed down the prep time to try to cover more clubs
This is honestly the most sensible move Chelsea can make - ship out first then bring in for key areas. Great video as always
We are on it thanks to our habibi bros
they dont have a choice..they wont sign anyone untill after july 1st i bet
@@DeterminedFCalready got Jackson. Nkunku and Gysto are from last transfer window
@@BocchitheRock132😂😂
I believe we've began the clearing
I miss the older sensible transfers videos where the answer could be 3 players in different leagues who nobody would have thought of. So far it's just been saying they should buy players that the team are already linked with.
because they are... well, sensible. And they are probably going to sign. Makes sense to include them, just as the players likely to leave are not included. They did leave some suggestions for new transfers like Olise
I mean, with the stupid amount of money these clubs have been splashing, sadly, these are the 'sensible' transfers.
@@maciejbala477 Olise isn’t a bad one, but it’s kinda predictable and obvious. It’s hardly the same as when Alex would pull out names like Kempf, Caci, Sangare.
Those players who could have been picked up for nothing and developed into better players with better coaching. Feels like a lot of those players are still flying under the radar, not because they’re bad players, but because nobody was willing to take a punt on it.
You go back through those videos now and they were picking out gems before anybody had heard of them.
@@maciejbala477 How tf is Olise a "sensible transfer"? Palace would want in excess of £80m for him, and then you end up stifling either his or Madueke's playing time because they're both young and need playing time to develop.
Buying those unknown/less known players come at a cost, Chelsea need success now, and need to fix the team sheet now, so it's sensible investing more in trusted players than risking buying a player not ready to perform, or many of them, having the team sheet problem again
I'd echo the criticisms floating around - preferring the old format where you'd get multiple data-driven options, not all of whom you'd be familiar with - and I hope these videos haven't all already been filmed, but I will also say I am a huge fan of how you've laid out squad depth in these videos, especially witht the colour coding in this one
You’re not even subscribed
@@Zooisms I mean I literally am...
Still waiting for Ibrahim Sangare to join the Premier League.
We almost bought him last summer but Todd chose Denis Zakaria instead 🤡
Exactly 😢
Me too!!
been wanting liverpool to replace fabinho with him
Kanté gone, Zakaria end of loan, Bakayoko released... Sangaré in? 👀
Sensible transfers: "We don't deal in rumour" Also sensible transfers "There's a rumour he's going, so we'll cross him off, there's a rumour they are going to buy this guy, so we'll add him in"
Leaving rumours are way more relevant than incomings
He was right right to do so, every player he omitted is gone including Kovavič and Havertz gone meaning that if he had included them, the video would be pointless
It's not a rumour if Fabrizio says it's happening
Much better than the ManU Sensible Transfers. Much more 'sensible' and engaging. Hopefully others will follow suit accordingly.
Man Utd *
I can see 442 also works with this squad, with Nkunku playing more as a 2nd striker / false9 alongside a no9, and a double pivot or double 8 in the midfield.
If that's the case, then they should give Lukaku a 2nd chance, he thrives in such a formation.
Chelsea spent so much money, and yet their solution is to spend even more money 😂😂
@@RralRonaldoYou ain’t heard?? We’re selling a lot of our deadwood to the Saudis for what should be favorable valuations for a change.
If we can shed the burden of those wages AND not lose £10mill+, but actually recoup some on the player sales, we’ll be sh**ting in high cotton…
442? Hell no
You want to play brexit football. 💀
Fair play for finding reason in Chelsea’s madness. The football manager player in me found this very cathartic. Like arriving at a new team and clearing all the deadwood in the first summer.
those dopamine hits from ALL THOSE SALESSS
Excellent video. It is most refreshing to find someone that has properly researched the team they talk about. So many videos have presenters (even on actual TV) that clearly know little about the team they're talking about. As a lifelong Chelsea supporter and season ticket holder for more than 35 years I pick up on some inaccuracies and then you just wonder how good the info on other teams is... But I think you quietly nailed this one.
a shame that ziyech is leaving, he never really got any play time as a RW with a real no.9. the whole time they had a no.9 he was being played as a wingback, then when they were playing havertz as a 9, he was benched / playing wingback. Had a lot of potential, but hes going to be getting a lot of money in saudi league.
Chelsea signed a lot of players they didn't really know how to use tbh (same with academy players who they could have brought into the team but wasted them e.g. Hudson-Odoi). A bloated squad is a recurring issue, and has been there when Abramovich was there too (just Todd made it much worse last season lol, but now looks to have come to his senses)
I agree, Ziyech is a baller and we seen that in the world cup, it is a shame but I think this season is a fresh start and it's better he moves on along with his pal Lukaku who unlike Ziyech I'v no respect for.
guy predicted Olise. mad props/fingers crossed
I miss the Old Sensible transfers animated format.
Ah, kinda missed out on the defense (especially Colwill). Something about Hutchinson being the depth option would have made sense as well.
No lies Hutchinson playing back up to madueke would've made sense in fact I think that is what they are doing bc I don't see any winger targets they are looking for so they could very prepared to play some academy boys next season
I think Nkunku & Jackson are really gonna improve our team.
BREAKING: Chelsea have sold Ziyech, Mendy, Koulibaly to Saudi clubs.
Source: the only man i trust in transfers, Fabrizio.
Here We Go!!
Edit: There They Go!!
as a chelsea fan this was a lovely video, very encouraging to see sensible and rational takes that are usually absent regarding my club😭
Theres a lot of moving too and from the board and players who were mentioned as coming in are then not on there and players who you said were going were still on there. The inconsistency makes it less clear e.g. Olise isn't on the board at the end of the video when summarising Chelsea's squad with their sensible transfers.
Imagine how Potter felt
Nkunku use to play right wing with France, it's another option for that side. For the midfilder problem they could buy Frankie De Jong to play next to Enzo Fdez or Ceballos (if he want to go out of Real Madrid) to replace Mason Mount.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I prefer this format to the old. Some of the takes in this comment section are a bit over the top, these are very enjoyable analyses
You’re right it is an unpopular opinion. I get your preference on this format cause there’s more information and it’s not a short video.
I like the more ind depth analysis and explanation of the teams squad and tactics. What I prefered form the old format was the way they gave multiple options for one position, with varying profiles that would fit the team, a player ready for the first team vs one with high potential. In this video and the Man Utd one it feels like they mostly mentioned players theyre currently linked with instead of finding a player who no one's talking about but fits the profile. We know Moises Caicedo is good, we know Chelsea will probably sign him for a lot of money, but: Who else is out there that could be viable?
There's definitely good things and bad things in each of the format's, it's just that those who've been following Tifo for a while already have expectations for this series.
that kick drum is really wild if you wear headphones
Olise didn’t play in a midfield 3 in the last few months; he played on the right wing. He can play as a 10 and I’m sure he COULD play as a very offensive number 8 but it’s not something he’s been doing.
I don't know how I missed this 9 days ago but it is still remarkably perceptive. Excellent work, JJ!
I think as a box to box to pair with Enzo, Casadei is heavily slept on he's performed extremely well at the U20 WC for Italy.
I agree I think he's good, but he has struggled a little. I think the general consensus is that he needs another loan first (hopefully in the prem) to pick up the experience needed.
Would be interesting to see what we do with Santos as well
Lmao Enzo is not a dm, he is the free role 8
Area Guler could be a cheaper alternative at 17.5million instead of Olise, as he can play both as a 10 and RW and offer a creative option. Olise could cost close to 100million euro
Lol, Olise is 40m max
Guler looks to be a future b'dor and I'm a massive fan, but unless you don't really watch him you should have known he's not physically ready to play in the prem or any other top 5 leagues.
Or just keep odoi
@@jaend6924 give him a loan then or some creatine and whey most 18 year olds aren’t physically ready for the prem and need to bulk but get by on superior skill and technical ability
@@eoin382 yeah loan him, and get Olise in the mean time. Guler could simply join Ajax since his release clause is cheap and assess his options later instead of joining an awkward situation where he needs to unnecessarily compete for starting berth where he could start somewhere else.
Guler barely gets by on 'superior skill and technical ability' in Turkish league and still gets bullied a lot of times physically, hard to imagine he could do the same in England.
Brilliant video, amazing watching this a few weeks later and how much of it has come true
Old format better
this will only be for chelsea
The Tifo Channel right with the drawings and everything 👀👀 also with Joe narrating
@@icesaacream but they did this with Man United yesterday
@@thatosoafo1331 ohh i see what you mean now. i dont mind this format it works
Much much better. This is exhausting to watch.
Shows as a testimony to how great these videos are that I'm fascinated despite this being Chelsea and me being an arsenal fan.
A lot of us are visual learners and lovers of the sport and the big board is such an amazing way to show things.
Can I get a timestamp for when JJ explains how we unload Cucurella??? Surely that would constitute a sensible transfer. Sensible at any cost, I think.
This video aged very well. You are spot on. Great analysis. New subscriber gained.
If Ziyech goes to cash out in the desert it would be an absolute shame. The way his talents have been wasted at Chelsea has to be one the biggest Ls over the last decade. Can't blame him if goes to the retirement home considering Chelsea have refused to sell him to actual interested clubs, but again, mega L for football as a whole.
Seeing this today, it's insane how accurately JJ predicted Chelsea to operate.
Please do City! Gundogan, Mahrez, Laporte, Walker, Bernardo could all be leaving and the only players we've been linked with are Kovacic and Gvardiol
you guys listed koulibaly as a sensible transfer last year and I agreed and was happy when he was signed... but that move didn't work out well -.-
sterling is on the top of my list of players I want to get rid of. it pains me that that guy is our highest earner. but it looks like he will sit out his contract... nkunku excites me but I try to keep my hopes in check. I hope he delivers
These are sensible transfers not guaranteed transfers, koulibaly might have been a good transfer if Chelsea hadn’t self imploded. I get why you want sterling out but Chelsea are in need of depth for their wingers and it doesn’t seem like there has been any interest on sterling by any clubs, but he might actually have a good season next season with a new manager and a regular sized squad
Sterling would be a fool to agree to change anything. He’s on 350k/wk and playing back in London. If he leaves, he will have to be driven out with fire. 🔥
@@OzyMandias13 yes. I curse the day we signed him
Great video that sums it up very nicely. Only thing is I would've loved it if at the very end there was a screenshot of the list of players that ended up on this video's "to leave" list from Chelsea. Great work overall though, big fan.
You forgot about Colwill and Casadei but great video!
Havertz is similar to Nkunku. But there is one thing in which Nkunku is better - he doesn't miss so many chances. Last year everyone in Chelsea was missing a lot.
yep, which is why it makes perfect sense to replace havertz with him and cash in on havertz
You forgot Diego Moreira(RW). Signed on a free in spring
I want Joe Devine to present an Unsensible Transfers series.
In my opinion, Olise is good but may not be a good option as both Elise and Noni are at the same age and both could potentially blocking each other path. Hence, for right inverted winger I am hopefully Poch could consider Leroy Sane and he is also at 27 years old - similar to Sterling and he could provide the guidance to both Noni and Omari Hutchinson. This is with assumptions that Bayern wanted to sell and Sane willing to come to Chelsea for a season without UCL.
I think DDF will go on loan and we will look to bring in one more striker.
I think midfield is the new priority, now that some outgoings have been secured, and the most up-in-the-air position. I believe Caicedo will come in and then it will be decided who leaves permanently or on loan towards our the end of preseason. I believe Andrey will stay, and the other youngsters will be offered loans depending on Mount and Gallagher’s situation.
I think Hutchinson maybe the 4th winger.
Having watched every CFC game since forever, we definitely won’t miss Ziyech or Kova. Havertz will be missed a little but if he wants to leave then so be it, his work rate and nonchalant style isn’t exactly Poch material anyway…
I think Ziyech will be missed. He was one of our most creative players last season. No surprise that we started to win games and score when Frank started to put Ziyech back in the squad.
Also Havertz had a good work rate (if you remember our pressing under Tuchel), it's just he has a relaxed appearance on the field so it went unnoticed. I don't even think it's a case of him wanting to move, more us accepting an offer for him and not looking to build around him even though Mount looks set to leave.
As it is a transition season, I sorta hope we don't get a new striker this season, as I think it would be good for Broja to get some game time and rather us wait for us to evaluate what sort of striker we need with the new team, then rush to get a new one because we're desperate. The general consensus is that we're not pushing for champs this season anyway.
You guys are normally so spot on, which is why I love this channel!
However, Olise absolutely did NOT play in a midfield 3 at palace recently. He did that twice in the *very* early season when vieira was still there. Even when he played there, Ayew was RW, and Ayew handled the vast majority of the defensive work centrally while olise pushed high and wide to attack.
Disappointing to see tifo have the same carelessness about non-big six that the “main” sports media does 🤦🏼
When Tifo does content on your own team you realise how surface level their takes really are.
This was a really fun video to watch as a Chelsea fan!
Is there some way the old format could be consolidated with this format. I think the sentiment is that we prefer a more data focused approach along with some options most people might not have heard of. The new format has not been nearly as insightful as it used to be.
With Ziyech Havertz and mount out the door and Hudson Odoi potentially, I’d keep Mudryk Sterling Madueke and Pulisic too as the 4 options. Pulisic one more season
Another great video. Long time supporter of your content. If you don't mind me asking, what's the tactics board software that you use in these videos?
love that you said chukwuemeka reasonably well
There ain't no way in hell Levi Colwill is not part of that squad. He'll be a key Chelsea player next season.
Agreed. Talk of another loan is foolish and he cannot be sold.
So you signed badiashile to sit at the bench ?
@@MinTAAA3 mate City has Laporte, Dias, Ake, Akanji and Stones. Chelsea can live with Silva, Fofana, Badiashile and Colwill, plus Colwill does have a much higher ceiling than Badia.
hope Brighton get revenge and charge 100 mill or nothing for Caicedo
Sounds like he's pushing for a move to Brighton. Would love for him to stay, but he has been hinting that he's pushing for a move to Brighton.
Nkunku has higher stats compared to other Chelsea forwards.. good graph... but I am sure werner and others also had higher stats before they join Chelsea... post that its a downfall... something wrong with the Chelsea system/culture...really dnt know
Paez and Casadei missing from the lineups, they might have a crucial role. Omari Hutchinson is the ideal right winger you just mentioned, and I think he has a higher ceiling than Madueke. All we need to do is reduce our squad and we will see the old chelsea coming back slowly
was also thinking Chukwumeka could cover at RW, as well as compete at the 10 position . I hope Chelsea just sticks with Jackson/Broja/Nkunku for the year, doesnt break the bank for a striker, and solidify the midfield, develop the youth and regroup for later
@@mdterps0325 Read my mind
These are too long😩
The ones on the Tifo channel were short and precise, loved them
Great vid but you completely forgot about Levi Colwil. He’s going to be starting as LCB next season
I love how JJ wore a blue shirt but it's not Chelsea's.
Great video mate, very informative!
Whats the beat in the background, has be dancing the whole time
Probably the hardest sensible transfers video for a while, just so much going on.
Honestly, that was impressive. Boehly should hire you for sure.
You missed César Casadei, also good talented midfield option
I'm sceptical of this as Tito suggested Koulibaly last season...but last season also showed me that stats and underlying numbers are almost worthless when you're sh*te too.
Tifo*
All they (or anyone) can do is make calculated guesses, you win some you lose some!
I mean having good underlying numbers doesn't guarantee success, but it's a good indicator that you're likely to be signing a winner. But like most things that doesn't always work out, and the circumstances at Chelsea were exceptional. I wouldn't use this one example as evidence to dismiss stats all together
Koulibaly isn’t a bad player, he just had a bad season. But nearly everyone at Chelsea had a bad season.
last season was in itself was worst season in chelsea history so cant judge any players on that, next season might see many chelsea players perform what initially was expected from them
25 players is not the optimal, is the max (ignoring sub 23) so yeah you maybe can have a realistic 30 player squad but regularly 23 players would be playing I would argue 23 is the optimal (a starter and a backup in each position and 3 keepers for training)
Brilliant video! makes so much sense!
Prefer the older videos of sensible transfers. Seems like a nice dude but not feeling it
Starting an FM save with Chelsea after the last January transfer window update should be fun.
Seeing a trend of almost all their players going Saudi Arabia almost like there’s some back door deals going on there
The owners of Tottenham and the 4 top Saudi clubs have 60% stake in entity represented by Boehly. It's like taking money from pocket and putting it in the other one.

The mad thing is that nkunkus been injured fr a lot of the ssn and still has more goal contributions than all our attackers
Enzo won't start more than 5 games as a deep lying playmaker, its not his role and he already had talks with the board so that the situation would not repeat itself.
His dad did that not him and whatever poch deploys him at he cannot complain
@@jesterbeats2898Poch is Argentine. Everyone in Argentina knows Enzo is an 8. And without Enzo performing his best this Chelsea team won't go anywhere.
I know I'm late to the party, but here I am.
I'd swap Lukaku with Lautaro Martinez, considering they (Inter Milan) have brought in Thuram from Mönchengladbach.
For the wing I'd look at Kvaratskhelia and/or Samuel Chukwueze from Villareal or Pedro Goncalves from Sporting Lisbon.
Midfield I'd get Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio Roma and/or Bennacer from AC Milan.

Sensible transfers:
Enzo Le Fee (last year of contract, wants to leave and metrics are phenomenal, ideal Kova replacement).
Arda Guler (Potential to be a generational talent, could rotate with Madueke and Nkunku taking the spot light off of him as a 1st team player but gives plenty of mins as a rotational player to two posistions).
Dominik Szoboszlai (perfect mount replacment, would help Nkunku thrive. Dead ball specialist something chelsea have lacked since the departure of Alonso).
Brice Samba (Highly underrated keeper even in his time in the championship has helped lens to their best ever finish. Claims crosses something Kepa struggles with. Wouldn't cost a lot either and has good distribution.
Josip Sutalo (brilliant ball playing center back with composure beyond his years, idea to rotate with fofana and take the burden off an aging thiago silva). Sell Chalobah to an Italian side where he would thrive.
The accuracy is crazy. That Jackson Goal vs Burnley was set up by Gallagher the same way it was predicted here.
Having started with 'were not predicting what they will do' it then goes on about Nkunku and Caicedo....
bring back old sensible transfers
First time on the channel but instantly subscribed after this video, brilliant information and presentation. Great job good sir 👏
Excellent video !
why'd you not include Colwill in the final segment? Chalobah will likely be out the door. Silve/Fofana on the right and Colwil/Badiashile on the left. We could use a 5th Cb, likely homegrown, but it probably won't be Chalobah.
Alot of waffle for a simple answer. If you want an answer, go and look at Arsenal's passing map for 22/23. Hint - Xhaka stood on Zinchenkos toes on the pitch. Arteta wants a more advanced left Midfielder, he also wants an aerial threat, he wants more creativity on the left and unlocking Martinelli. This isn't a fluke, Arteta and his team identified him and hence the price. Arsenal are paying at they have to and Chelsea are selling what they can. I don't think for one minute Chelsea want to sell him.
You didn't include colwill & Cesare casadei in the last part of your video

I liked more the old sensible transfers format
A sheffield united transfer video would be good as they only have a £20 million budget and numerous players are on their final 12 months of contract.
These vids are gems. Do Bayern Munich also.
PIF invested in Clearlake and PIF now helping Chelsea make some money back from dead wood players. Nothing to see here folks defintely no conflicts of interest. Football has gone destroyed by nation states and venture capatalists.
By now they have managed to get rid of 10 + players including Kantu, Zyeich, Mendy, Kaoulibaly etc to Saudi Pro league. Kovacic moved to City. Haverts to Arsenal.
This was better than the Man United sensible transfers
Thing is Olise is staying at Palace but the idea of a creator that can also pass long range is good

Can you do sensible transfers for LAFC?
Imagine having a serious performance discussion about forwards, but then use the statistics of underperforming Chelsea players Vs current stats of non-chelsea players. Hardly anyone maintains their form moving to Chelsea.
One thing is you also forgot Casadei who has really boosted his name in the last month especially. Probably will get a loan tho tbf
The only way to success for Chelsea unfortunately is not to fire manager after half bad patch of games, if we can resist the temptation team will automatically be stronger next season, all of Klop or Guardiolas would have been a failure, second the new transfers should be made by managers only who have some plan and vision for what they want and need, our transfer policy is failure because there is a disconnect between recruitment and management!
I'm surprised Colwill wasn't mentioned. He'll arguably be a top 5 world defender in the next 3-6 years.
I think they were focusing on just the attack as our defence is full. Also if reports are anything to go off, sounds like he is wanting to go to Brighton.
