I really like rambo as a character. Not just cuz he's badass at fighting, but because as a character, he's tortured inside and out. It's such a wide term and things aren't so simple I think we can agree.
One of his best movies. First Blood and Rocky had a lot in common. I think the most endearing aspect is the ascension of the underdog. Both are far greater than they even know and they are seen as the least of us. So, in the doing of the story, they become endeared to the viewer because they are both worthy and downtrodden. A fantastic action packed movie from start to finished. When you left the cinema you knew you would remember this movie forever! Stallone was brilliant!
This is a pretty good film as it pertains to showing how veterans were treated after Vietnam and especially those with PTSD which wasn’t treated nor viewed the same way as it is today.
Very true, many miss or overlook what he discovers about his wartime friends. Disease, cancer, biochemical agents rotting them away. A very similar experience after any war. Iraq veterans got it pretty bad but had to gight the VA hard for benefits/compensation.
Stallone played the part of Rambo fantastic. That was probably my favorite part of the movie. The cops pushed him for no reason. My opinion, they got what was coming to them.
Well PTSD is really the inability to adjust to life after a traumatic event, in this case warfare was traumatic but that didn't manifest in him not being able to handle warfare, it was civilian life he couldn't handle.
@@ultimate0706 But wouldn't you say that it's still ridiculous to thrust the man back into the very thing that messed him up in the first place? It's like giving a recovering alchoholic a bottle of booze or something like that.

@@ultimate0706 Doesn't change the fact all the movies after First Blood completely ignored and disregarded its message and devolved into dumb action movies. You don't just go from watching Rambo have an emotional breakdown and pouring his soul out to the colonel to seeing him go "yeah I'm over it, let's kill a bunch of people" in the next movie, especially when First Blood had a grand total of 1 kill and it was unintentional on Rambo's part. Hell, the guy even wanted to turn himself in after that, explicitly saying he didn't want more people to get hurt. The sequels unfleshed him out and turned him into a murdering brute. That's reverse character development if I've ever seen any.
This movie is amazing and holds your attention from start to finish. The translation in my country was perfect, Rambo has many fans here and it was every kid's dream to be like him at that time. Old movies are much more interesting than current ones. Greetings from Brazil.
2 out of 3 of the guys he attacks while running away say something before he attacks them, so he knows where they are. The 3rd guy opens the door so he also knows where he is.
Besides the weather, there's something very nostalgic about looking at the scenery, the deli and restaurant. The overall quality of the film reminds me of sneaking into my brother's room and watching movies like this on WHT back in the day. Lol! Good times.
Not true. PTSD, and especially K-PTBS, can and have been been experienced by many in relationships (look it up). Mine was by my parents, although quite differently. Trust me, it is HEAVILY disturbing and affecting one's life. You do not need to go to an official war, any war, especially in families or relationships as an adult, will do just fine - to a greater extent if you are the more sensitive one. But I forgave my parents. Jesus was - like always - right in this one: Forgive and you will get peace (and receive forgiveness yourself). I do not say it was easy, though, nor is it now. But it is the only way. I highly recommend therapy as well as it is very relieving and gives important insights and help strategies.
I loved this scene. A classic fight scene. 1 against 6. I just noticed something. There is a jail prisoner witnessing the whole thing from his cell. When Gault swung and missed with his club another deputy runs away. Rambo grabs his neck. Listen to Gault when it happens. LOL!! Then he gets 2 knee shots to the solar plexes. Rambo hits him hard with a backhand punch.
A very important difference between the movie and book is that Rambo never kills anyone in the movie. In the book he killed 30 people, including civilians for emotional reasons.
That's how we used to treat people with PTSD back from Nam. I'm happy to say I work at a veterans administration medical facility and I try to give my veterans our veterans the very best I can everyday to ensure this never happens again. This was more than just a portrayal. In the early eighties this was reality
This movie really shows the injustice and oppression on a man who saw demons in the Vietnam war and made him the Ultimate Warrior against injustice and oppression. Love this movie
I love how he goes through the trouble to whoop ass on 2-3 people there at the end who didn’t want any trouble 🤣… almost reminds me of Lancelot’s assault in Monty Python
This has to be one of the most cathartic fight scenes ever. Full credit to the writers for getting you to absolutely loathe these cops in such a short amount of time.
This is one of my favorite scenes in one of my favorite films. If First Blood Sylvester Stallone was in today's modern era, he would have been a top contender for Hugh Jackman's wolverine character with the raw energy and fighting style. Two, if First Blood was remade today, I have imagined seeing John Rambo as an African American character - a Medal of honor recipient, American war hero, who fought in a recent major war, with PTSD and was brutalized by cops in a small town, and fought back. Michael B. Jordan would probably play that character.
Galt tried to kill an unarmed man, who was helplessly clinging to a cliffside. It was, by any measure, purely self-defense. There was NO way of knowing that a rock versus a rifle would result in the death of the guy aiming his rifle on the rock holder.

I could explain it better, but I didn't read the book, so some details are missing for me, but basically, the police chief was being a scumbag, because he thought John didn't saw enough in Vietnam to be traumatized, and he saw hell in Korea...

One of the best action scenes of all time
This is a pretty good film as it pertains to showing how veterans were treated after Vietnam and especially those with PTSD which wasn’t treated nor viewed the same way as it is today.
Very true, many miss or overlook what he discovers about his wartime friends. Disease, cancer, biochemical agents rotting them away. A very similar experience after any war. Iraq veterans got it pretty bad but had to gight the VA hard for benefits/compensation.
He's just a plain monster a bad guy
@@deanfarr3249 So thats how you view combat veterans who suffer from PTSD-induced anger and psychosis? Such as Vietnam Vets?
@@SobaOfPulaski yeah he's sick

I understand the rage that Rambo' has in this scene.

Rambo II better I think
One of the best moment in cinema that i can remember, timeless piece.
This action sequence is one of the greatest turns of events in cinema. Up until the escape, he seemed like an unusual, yet relatively harmless guy.
Stallone played the part of Rambo fantastic. That was probably my favorite part of the movie. The cops pushed him for no reason. My opinion, they got what was coming to them.
He let them live. They didn't deserve mercy.
@@robertr9188 I know that they didn't deserve any mercy. I always thought that they got what was coming to them. I saw the movie many times.
One thing about this scene makes me really mad: he didnt even need a shave!!
You still can see some beard on him
the cop was trying to be nice, well, sorta, just asked him to sit down...
He had flash backs from the war
Then a Home Alone style aftershave pat
Agree
that scream when he has that flash back from PTSD is horrifying.
they were gonna shave him dry , I would of reacted the same way
With a straight razor. They would have cut the hell out of him

Every Rambo movie after this one:
"PTSD? The hell is that?"
@@supereldinho They're movies, the director chose to put Rambo in those situations because he's not a real person that can feel or die. Additionally, in real life many Vietnam veterans did multiple tours because they couldn't deal with the way they were treated when they came back.
@@supereldinho Brilliant rendition man, spot on.
This is very relatable and realistic, thank you StudioCanal for posting, stuff like this happens every day where I live.
The music is so good in this film.
It's like the quarantine of December 2020, the man just wanted to get something to eat.
This scene is so well edited it should be shown in every movie school
"In town your the law, out here it’s me"
Classic stuff !
Rambo: you gotta place I could eat.
"Sure there's a diner just here in town best burgers you'll ever eat. We can share war stories."
This movie is amazing and holds your attention from start to finish. The translation in my country was perfect, Rambo has many fans here and it was every kid's dream to be like him at that time. Old movies are much more interesting than current ones. Greetings from Brazil.
The look he gives while he sharpens the blade amazing acting u can see his pain through his eyes
when he runs outside of police station like im free and that music hits gives me goosebumps...
Love the film, the acting and the story. It’s pretty much as perfect as it gets. The humanity of it resonates just as much today as it has ever done
this movie is the favorite of our youth.
I love how every time a cop comes to a door way or stairwell Stallone is perfectly there to execute a jump kick or pullup kick or standard kick.
Doors are dangerous! 🤣
Somebody read the script .
2 out of 3 of the guys he attacks while running away say something before he attacks them, so he knows where they are. The 3rd guy opens the door so he also knows where he is.
FACT: Corners and doors are the most dangerous features in a building when doing a sweep.

Besides the weather, there's something very nostalgic about looking at the scenery, the deli and restaurant. The overall quality of the film reminds me of sneaking into my brother's room and watching movies like this on WHT back in the day. Lol! Good times.
Plenty of towns in the pnw look basically like that still
the good ol´ 80s
Sad.
PTSD.
Those who never been there, never really understand.

I always get a rush watching this epic scene. First Blood is good old cinema.
One of my favorite movies and series of all time. Rocky being the first. Awesome scene and escape. Got a new subscriber. Was fun to watch. Great video
I wonder what happened to that deputy? Maybe it was his first day 😂😂
This is one of the best scenes I've ever seen in my life. How this film goes from 1 to 300 in 3 minutes. Unbelievable.
A very important difference between the movie and book is that Rambo never kills anyone in the movie. In the book he killed 30 people, including civilians for emotional reasons.
After this... Horatio become's a tought guy and join csi...
EYYAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!
He developed that CSI ' take your glasses off ' look..
That's how we used to treat people with PTSD back from Nam. I'm happy to say I work at a veterans administration medical facility and I try to give my veterans our veterans the very best I can everyday to ensure this never happens again. This was more than just a portrayal. In the early eighties this was reality
That climax scene when Rambo breaks down was Stallones best performance ever

This has to be one of the most cathartic fight scenes ever. Full credit to the writers for getting you to absolutely loathe these cops in such a short amount of time.
2:17 me trying to steal a motorcycle in GTA San Andreas
One of the best scenes....
I know he never meant to kill Galt, but I would be lying through my teeth if I said I wasn't happy when he died.
Galt tried to kill an unarmed man, who was helplessly clinging to a cliffside. It was, by any measure, purely self-defense. There was NO way of knowing that a rock versus a rifle would result in the death of the guy aiming his rifle on the rock holder.
Well yeah. Galt abused and then tried to execute Rambo. Karma.
Galt threatened the helicopter pilot with his life. He was a total “dick” and deserved what happened. Of course related to the story.
I would have pointed and laughed at his mangled body. He was shit.
Galt was demented
Oscar-worthy performance, deserved at least an indication.
Honestly, some of the best hand to hand combat in a movie ever!
This part was brutal in the book.
Yes intestines out rather than a smack in the face
And Rambo was bare-ass naked in the book, a change I'm fairly glad they made for the film.
