      @@eponaalbion Frank claimed to my face that he had been awarded a MOH. In my presence he made that claim to numerous people. Frank SHOWED ME a MOH and claimed it was the one that was awarded to him. No, that contention did not come from an article I read, it was a boast that Frank made to me and to a number of others, including a couple of Marine Corps NCO's at Camp Pendleton, who looked it up in a book and confronted Frank with the cold hard facts, that he was full of shit. Frank's comeback was that it was a "Secret" Medal of Honor, and that's the revised story that he's been sticking to ever since. For the record, there are indeed "secret" missions, but there are no "secret" Medals of Honor.

    Just to set the record straight, Frank did not work on "Double Impact." Van Damme and I initially spoke to Frank about offering him a fight choreographer position, and for him to possibly make some writing contributions, but he rubbed too many people the wrong way with egotistical demands, and the producers told us they wanted nothing to do with him. Bottom line, he was not hired to work on the film, in any capacity, and never spent one day on the set.

      Is there any chance you and Frank could ever put aside differences and work on another film? Like most of us here, Bloodsport had a huge impact on our lives and I thank God, you, and Frank for developing the movie. There is nothing out there that is even close to Bloodsport. If we can't forgive others for what they have done to us, God will not forgive us on when we stand before him. And the phrase "I will forgive, but never forget" is not true forgiveness because if you have forgiven, then you will forget just as God says "I will remember your sins no more."

    Nowadays flashy martial arts like TKD, capoeira, certain types of kung-fu, taido etc. are not as revered as they were in the 90's but I think they should be respected; there is an air of youthfulness about high kicks and acrobatics that nothing else can fully match. It can keep a person feeling young beyond their years and it's a powerful experience possibly closest to flying without having wings.

    Man this channel is such a gem!! Like most here i grew up on all these movies and Van Damme was and is my all time favorite martial artist. Everything from his charm to his fluidity in his fight scenes, just such a presence on film that's hard to explain. I remember sneaking out of my room one night just to catch a scene of lionheart while my dad was watching it. He caught me and let me finish the movie with him, and ever since i was hooked and pretty much that's how i began my martial arts journey! I was the kind of fan that knew every word, every fight scene. I would download quiz test about these movies just to test my knowledge lol. So being able to see these interviews and learn all these facts about all these characters is truly invaluable to me and prob a lot of ppl! Yeah, that would piss me off as a martial artist and as a fighter. If I signed on to be in a Bloodsport type movie, to play a fighter, I’m showing up in shape and giving 110% everyday. And I’m doing everything I can to showcase my skills and ability. If I did all that, only to hear about someone taking credit for coaching me, when they absolutely didn’t, I’d be pissed! I would definitely have something to say about it. And it’s not about ego, at least not entirely. It’s because I have a coach, who’s also my mentor and if I impress people with the skill that he taught me, I want MY COACH, MY FRIEND, MY MENTOR to get the credit he deserves. And I will be damned if I’m gonna let someone else steal credit that they don’t deserve. But that’s me.

    How intriguing that Capoeira, was the martial arts style of choice, for the film Only The Strong! However I also wonder why this title was chosen for the film. Now my curiosity extends, as to why Mark Dacascos was chosen aside from other martial arts action stars, of which no doubt for this film, he was definitely perfect for the role. What really meant was, as to whom else they would have possibly considered for the lead role, then what made them choose Mark Dacascos ultimately.
    Viking Samurai I wonder how they came across Mestre Joselito 'Amen' Santo the real life Copeira master in the film, who also taught and trained Mark Dacascos for the film, also assisted with some of the Capoeira fights choreography. I always wished that Mestre (Master) 'Amen' Santos, would have had a spoken dialogue even if minimal in the film, but not once do we ever hear him speak, at least not much from what I recall watching the film, back in the 1990s from the good old, local, suburban neighbourhood, when it was first released. Aside from this film I have never seen Capoeira in an actual film about it, except for the Brazilian Capoeira film, called Besouro and surprisingly enough had Huan-Chiu Ku, a Hong-Kong martial arts and action films choreographer, at the helm of this films fighting scenes, which was released on the 30th of June, 2009.
    Lastly just curious Viking Samurai if ever possible, would you ever consider doing a film review, possibly even interviews of Drive (the so called original Rush Hour film) by Steve Wang, that Hollywood and Brett Ratner of Rush Hour shamelessly and disgracefully ripped off? Drive has also been called the greatest Hong Kong action film, made out of Hong Kong instead in America, where once again it has Mark Dacascos as the lead Asian action hero, Kadeem Hardison as the wise cracking, comedic, Hip Hop cool 😎 cat type of character, where clearly later on Brett Ratner used as the templates for Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker respectively. Not to mention Drive also used the iconic Japanese/Hong Kong style stunt action team and legendary choreographer from the Guyver films, Koichi Sakamoto and his Alpha Stunts Team, directed by Steve Wang, but who also did the action stunts and fight choreography for the 1990s Power Rangers in the USA version as well as working on the various Japanese seasons known as Super Sentai.
    It would be awesome Viking Samurai if someone might point you in the right direction, to possibly contact and interview Steve Wang, Koichi Sakamoto, plus Mark Dacascos himself who last year or the previous year, during the lock down as a result of the pandemic, was one of the various martial arts/stunt performers and thespians on Scott Atkins' RUclips channel, along with the likes of the legendary Cynthia Rothrock. Sorry my friend I am getting carried away, however I believe someone like you, due to your RUclips channel, your credibility of having interviewed the likes of Sheldon Lettich, Luis Esteban here and in your previous video, Don The Dragon Wilson and so forth that hopefully those other people I have just mentioned, might be willing to come on your channel and grant you an interview or two. Much respect for both of u guys in this interview. Luis seems to be a simple, upright & humble guy. He is simply telling it as he sees it n as best as he knows. I MUST say however, just because u can't prove something doesn't necessarily mean it is not there or that it doesn't exist. Can any of u "prove" u have thoughts? Can u actually "prove" u have a mind? Or can u simply just illustrate that these things are there through the evidence of their existence? Interesting to hear he worked on the show ‘Crossing Jordan’ though!!! I wonder if he had any face time with Michael T. Weiss (the star of ‘The Pretender’ series and one of the greatest cult actors out there) who was a reoccurring character.

    I read somewhere that the garage fight scene where Lewis fought the big welding guy with the helmet. That the welding guy was played by Frank Dux. Was that true and if so was it like the only involvement he really had in the movie based on this interview we just watched?

    • @sheldonlettich2728
      @sheldonlettich2728 Год назад

      Frank Dux was definitely the guy in the welder's helmet. He was actually quite helpful with that "Chop Shop" scene, but with many of the other fight scenes he wasn't much help at all. He didn't know jack about capoeira, and I had constant complaints about him from Mark and from others who were involved with the fight scenes. That's why he was sent home early, before we finished filming. Still, we were generous and gave him a Fight Choreographer credit, which was contractual, even though Maestre Amen did most of the capoeira choreography. And because Frank raised a huge fuss, we also allowed him to share a credit with the Stunt Coordinator, Artie Malesci.

    Good series of vdiees you've put out about FD. Getting key people associated with him and other MA film stars.
    Luis esteban. Funny how he is today nothing like his charsacter in OTS.. Back then he "looked the part" but here we see he sounds educated and not likea "street thug". Looking and sounding "respectable". Many times actors resemble their characters....why they were cast for those roles.
    JCVD...."can act"....saw a bit of his straight to DVD "JCVD"...he can act. He's just never been giving the chance....because he ws known as that "MA guy with the flashy kicks". So he was pigeon holed. Such is a career of many an "ctor". Few get to breakaway from the type fo roles they ewre known for. Brandon Lee managed it doing The Crow. Miachl Jai White---oddly a good martial artist who wasn't known as a "martial artist" as he got many non-MA roles...in some big budget Hollywood films....and it just turned out he has I thik 10 black belts in 10 MA's.
    Whether or not FD served in the mililtary or worked for the cIA....as I've commented ....it's one of those nuggets to put on a MA Filmstar's resume....because it can't be proven. As long as they make it "look like they once served..."...And many buy into it who dont question why someone who DID "serve and worked with the CIA" would be consulting for MA films and make his ID known, open MA schools....and not "disappear" into society to live a quiet peaceful "normal life". Any actual Special Forces "operative".

    • @sheldonlettich2728

      "Disability" does not imply combat service, or overseas service. Dux's "disability" is due to falling off a truck he was painting, at Camp Pendleton, California.

    • @sheldonlettich2728
      @sheldonlettich2728 2 года назад +4

      @Sixgorillionshekelswindler Shlomo This happened many years ago; he may not have yet become the "skilled martial artist" he claims to be. I receive military disability compensation myself, and I'm also a member of Disabled American Veterans, so I know plenty about it. There are lots of veterans receiving disability compensation for mundane reasons, like falling off a truck, whether in a combat zone or not. I receive it for "hearing loss," the result of a year with the Infantry in Vietnam, where loud noises were a daily and oftentimes hourly occurrence. A wound or disability received via hostile action would get someone a Purple Heart, and Frank has never displayed one of those, only a Medal of Honor and other awards for valor under fire, none of which he earned. That's called "Stolen Valor."

    Bro, I am no hater, grew up off "Bloodsport" but it does seem like you are kinda obsessed with the character of frank dux from the movie and will absolutely never accept that it was just that, a movie and will ignore any obvious factors refuting his claims. Humor me on this, and if I am wrong, I will 100% apologize and recant my debate attempt in all fairness, but I have a feeling you may come up with a excusable reason why, what im about mention would be o.k. If, and I repeat if, honorable, hand picked "kumate" worthy fighters, representing most if not all styles of combat, self defense, etc from around the world, were invited to a "SECRET" warriors competition meant to be kept under the wraps to ensure the competitions longevity, wouldn't it be an absolute slap in the face, dishonorable, disrespectful, big time "no-no" and disgrace to your prospective art/style/master/dojo/students/legacy etc.. to break the secrecy code, oath etc to expose, whistle-blow, disclose anything regarding the tournament period, let alone to sell out for financial gain/fame to Hollywood, even if you "won"?????? And while on that particular aspect of it, why aren't there any, anybody else that was privy or privileged enough to participate or be part of said tournament come forward, what, did he kill every last person, participants, judges and attendees alike? Or, is every last person involved, just that disciplined that not one dare come forward, or since they all lost to him, they are embarrassed to speak on it from fear of the world knowing they lost to frank dux since there is soo much documented evidence and footage and proof positive, tangible or visual items supporting his claims? Like, the scrolled invitation that must be one of, if not, thee most prized possession's of any, fighter's or attendees privileged enough to get the invite, wouldn't you assume there would be 1, just 1 surviving invitation out there, that maybe a surviving family member that, like Mr. Dux, doesn't feel too strongly about trust, pact's, oaths, secrecy, discipline etc and just bust one out like " my uncle unexpectedly died earlier than anticipated and I was going through his possessions and found this old scrolled invitation to something called Kumate". Come on man, never did a fat guy drop off presents globally on flying reindeer via slay and chimneys in one night, with presents a plenty, manufactured by elves, all while snacking on cookies and milk by the billions!!! Bro, please enlighten me and help me make logical sense of this. I think the cia thing etc... is irrelevant when speaking in terms of only the "kumate", that may very well be true, but who cares, doesn't got ANYTHING to do with the "kumate" existing, him attending and emerging victorious, nor does him being under the tootaladge of said master, maybe he was, so what, Bruce Lee had a plethora of students doesn't mean they were all star pupils!!! This is where you will either be open-minded and fair and utilize common sense and provable fact prospective or be a biased yes man that has a miniscule connection to a semi celebrity and will defend her say for sake of that connections security? Its apparent you have admiration for this Man, that i respect, and I'm open to hearing different prospectives on the matter. Other than that, love the channel, ,minus the frank dux biased outlook
