I've been watching a lot of service videos and these are thorough and articulate. The finer points of instruction are never overlooked. I now feel more confident to try many of these tasks. Great instructor! It helps to be patient and a bit obsessive.
There's many ways to do it, pulling the pin out of the connector block being the best (we didn't have the pin tool with us). I always tape a wire when it is cut. On less thing to worry about. Rather than splice wires, I will use scotch locks if room permits as they are bulky. Dave Moss Host
In the end, it is what you want not what someone else says. You have to stare at it every day, so buy the one you want! As for the tuning, that's up to the skill of the dyno tuner.
With a full system change it is very beneficial to get some fuel injection hardware and remap the bike for better all around performance. The closed loop OEM system will cope with the change but if the bike runs lean, that can cause varying degrees of damage to the engine through excessive heat.
If you remove all of that you may need to trick the ECU if an error code shows. The error codes and cures can be sorted out quite quickly. Thanks for the kind words!
@LigerZero1985 We only use blue loctite on critical nuts and bolts for track use. That would be exhaust hanger and through bolt on the mid pipe. We never use loctite on the exhaust itself when assembling it. Dave Moss Host
I've removed all system exhaust valve. Also I disconnected the cable from the ECU. These days I can not see results for my work. I have to wait for the weekend. Thank you very much for your quick reply. Best regards from Spain
thanks for the words of wisdom! Decided to go with the M4. If my tuner can do better with it then that's what matters haha, looks n sound are equal to me. Seems less people have one which although could be a warning at least I will be unique.. maybe with a competitive edge ;) Cheers!
if you change the exhaust system completely, leaving the stock oxygen sensor, you need a aftermarket ECU and custom maping, the engine will suffer in long time usage if we leave it without one? keep up the good work!
very nice tutorial. but would this full exhaust system not require an aftermarket powercommander to properly run the bike? or can you just put on the exhaust system without any other modifications?
@momuod yes we have been putting out series of shows on a GSXR 750 and an R6 with Performance Upgrades. Some of the older ones have been archived, so if you are looking for something specific let us know. Dave Moss Host
@allenku1 yes it will, by following the instructions :) Seriously - in principle yes it will as removal and installation follow the same techniques, but some pipes need exhaust gaskets, others don't and you have to know before you start the job! Dave Moss Host
@jztgatjdtkgt thanks for the comments. I am a high school teacher by qualifications, so I bring that to the table when doing these videos. Always better to be thorough! Dave Moss Host
@imstricken06 If I understand your expressed viewpoint, you believe that the exhaust ports are part of the cylinder block? If I am correct in that interpretation note that a cylinder head contains both intake and exhaust ports, therefore the header bolt to the cylinder head. The only time this would be true is with a 2 stroke engine where the exhaust bolts to the cylinder. Dave Moss Host
hey dave and the video crew, ive got a question do you need any lock tight apply to the pipes' joins or it is okay to just use lube as you shown in the video?
So I know this is a very old video, but I love all the how-to's with Dave in them.. soo informative, but I have a question :) Can Dave, or anyone else recommend this exhaust or a yoshi Carbon TRC full system. Price difference is $100 (M4 is more)... whats better? my Dyno guy says M4, the internet forums say Yosh........ Help?
Hi Dave. you do a great job and fantastic videos. forgive my English, I use google translator .. I am removing the engine exhaust valve of my k7 750. I'll disconnect the cable and remove the actuator and wiring. do you know if this cable has something to do with the oxygen sensor? not if you call it, here in Spain is "sonda lambda" or will give me problems? thanks for your videos and good jobs.

A masterpiece of the present worldwide motorcycle D.I.Y. internet video production.
Great Job Dave.

before installing the new pipes it would be the best time for oil change too! Lol, just saying. JK

Question. That wire that you cut, can't you just remove it from the plug? Also when you cut the wire did you have to tape it?
hi i want to ask why the power was cut from the brain's Palace reason;
No silicone sealant on the joints?
Do you know the best place or website where i can order full M4 Exhaust System for my k8
Sportbike track gear, Motomummy, M4exhaust.com. Google motorcycle performance parts for other websites.
So I know this is a very old video, but I love all the how-to's with Dave in them.. soo informative, but I have a question :)

Help?
What if my new system doesn't have the hole for the air fuel sensor?
go buy an o2 sensor bung and get it welded professionally. it shouldnt cost much more then 30-40$
in this application, none was needed at the time of instal nor at any time thereafter.
hahah had the same issue with the springs :p
