My Dad used to have a 2001 red 3-door Punto Sporting of this generation. He still laments its departure! It was a fun, sturdy, reliable and - most of all - rather gorgeous-looking supermini for its day. In the sporting guise, it still looks fresh on the road out there now. A true classic.
My fiat punto automatic 1.2 16v is a fantastic car had mine 9 years , I just love it , 60 mpg, in a run , 70 mph at just 2300 rpm , very quiet and smooth , no faults and no rust at al! , mine is now 20 years old and still going so well , credit to fiat
My grandpa (93) still has one. bought it new. compared to Twingo we had, i always felt t was small and cramped, and loud too. And it isn't due to misuse, it's garaged and now,in 2023 it still has under 100.000km. In my opinion original Twingo wipes the floor with this Punto.
I've got a 2001 3dr, 1.2 8v. It's rusting in a few places, got a knock on the steering and.... That's it. It costs me absolutely nothing to run or fix. Very reliable and sturdy. It's in Azzurro Astrale too. Best colour blue of the early 2000s. Love it! Had for 3 years and is my first car. Hope to have it a for while longer yet 😉
Got a Fiat Punto MK2 facelift from 2005. A really good choice for a first car, sometimes I find it hard putting it into gear but other than that it’s quite reliable.
this bad boy... we have 1.2L gassoline 2001 Fiat Punto, no major failures and hes close to 200.000 km still going strog! they dont build cars to last so long anymore :/
I had a Punto from 2000 1.2 8v as my first car, I still regret selling it the best car for around town, plenty of space, everything you need and nothing above that
Saw that some Americans moving to Italy, they mentioned they were shipping over yheir cars, and all I could think of is why? The only reason I would ship my truck there would be to sell it.
Punto II is great for intercontinental and high mountain expeditions ;) e.g. it did great on gravel through Turkey to Armenia ruclips.net/video/eki1RngvaWE/видео.html It was also great on our trip across the polar circle. It doesn't burn much fuel, and you can drive it for half the price on LPG, so it's suitable not only for the city ;) Ours drove about 150,000 km and had NO mechanical failure since it was manufactured.
Fiat Punto MK2 was the best design esthetically and practical. The subsequent Punto Grande and Punto Evo are too narrow and restrictive for drivers. Ride height has been compromised and I think overall Fiat lost their way on it. And as for the 500, the only decent one with room inside us the 500L. So fiat pull your finger out. The likes of Hyundai and Kia have pulled your knickers down and left you embarrassed.
we have one, bought new in 2000 with over 100,000 miles on it now and it has never been immobilised apart from flat batteries. Now, after nearly 18 years have to deal with some rust on the floorpan but otherwise its been a very solid car. had to change the clutch once (an American friend who was not sued to manuals burnt it i think) otherwise all original apart from timing belts/water pump replaced twice on a routine basis. Oh, a couple of rubber bump stops had to be replaced last year. Good car overall!
We still have our little Punto, 2000 model, 16v. Still going strong and still looking great after 19 years! Great car for its class.

Fiat was on a roll in the early 2000s... Unfortunately not financially
I still have my 2001 Fiat Punto. I love it. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

If I had 10 million dollars and I had to choose between a fiat punto and a ferrari 488 I'd choose the fiat punto no question
Well you chose early death if chose Fiat
If someone gave me a Ferrari for free, I would sell it and use the money to buy a Punto.
My first car lol
I have the same 3 door type, and even the colors are matching, I love this car

Almost 25 years have passed, the 2000 Punto still looks amazing even when compared to current superminis…

Lovely looking car, but very unreliable.
