I am a proud owner of 2 North American Mastiffs. My first, Kylo, is a male 190 pound 4y.o; actually from Monsterpiece Kennels. My second is a female 10 week old North American Mastiff. They are the best dogs-with out a doubt they are the best mastiff, they really are the best family guardian. They absolutely will adapt as long as their owner can adapt; they are definity linked esotericlly to their owner. They are great for all ages. I have an elderly mother who walks my 190 pound male with a walker and/or a cane; he is completely gentle with her! I could not ask for a better breed; when I was considering adding to my pack, I went w/ the same breed. If you are looking to add a family guardian to your family, and/or you single....ABSOLUTELY look into the breed!
my understanding of the AMERICAN MASTIFF is that it is a cross between an ENGLISH MASTIFF AND THE ANATOLIAN MASTIFF.... another name for the ANATOLIAN MASTIFF is the AKSARAY MALAKLISI and was done some time in the 60s or early 70s by a lady someplace in PENNSYLVANIA OR OHIO.......
At 0:40 you say due to a lot of interbreeding do you really mean in-breeding amongst dog family members or do you mean inter-breeding with other unhealthy breeds... just checking to see if there was anything lost in the translation between your native tongue and English as I am aware English words are used a little differently and more traditionally or even more broadly than in North America.
There was only limited number of Mastiffs so interbreeding between them can cause some serious health problems, because the gene pool is very small. It is similar as family members interbreeding.

I enjoy your vids, but your have caused confusion here because you are using both the names "American Mastiff" and "North American Mastiff". These are two different breeds. As some of the commenters point out below, the American Mastiff was created by crossing the English Mastiff with the Anatolian Shepherd and was done by Flying W Farms in Ohio, USA. Thank you.
@@Rocadog English is challenging ( I don't like to say "difficult") because it borrows from so many languages. Your English pronunciations have come a long way. I love to hear the progression. @@OdditiesOffcial Because it isn't standardized, there haven't been enough generations to form a breed standard, and even the parent mastiffs are not usually the same type.
Rocadog was pretty clear in the beginning that this came about only because of what modern purebred mastiffs had become. These dogs if poorly bred can be very expensive and time consuming to take care of. But if properly bred are the exact opposite, so it was definitely needed for people to step up and atleast try to correct it even with out registration or pedigrees. Mastiffs should be almost god like in both stature and temperament. Meaning that just the presence of one should make you wanna behave 😏

What Mastiff breeds? Being so large would seem to bring health problems especially hips.

Is this an AKC recognized breed? Never heard of it and I've been in the mastiff world now, for over a decade..
It is not recognized by AKC, nor FCI.
Is this breed recognized by..... I don't know.... UKC, AKC, FCI.....? ONU or something, somebody?
Yes, akc registered. I have one from monsterpiece kennels, my sweet little Fiona.
Are those puppies's ears docked???
you mean are the ears cropped and docked is usually used when a dog gets its tail well im sure you know docked.
Hello Dear, "merle" is pronounced like pearl, not like "Meryl" (Streep)
