Great to see you tackle repairs yourself. The steering wheel horn assembly can be fixed with O-rings, size # 31, 9/16" x 5/16" x 1/8". Depending on condition of your existing bushings either 4 in the back or 8 on both sides. Usually about $5 vs. $60+ for factory part. Great quality video.
->porceder. your #31 O ring fix works like a charm. can’t thank you enough. it’s people like you that make diy a lot easier not to mention the time savings. a shout out as the video was also very helpful!
I actually got the horn working on my Mercedes by removing it and saturating it with WD-40. It didn't work immediately upon re-installation, but then some time later, it started working perfectly and has ever since (probably about 6 years since doing this, still works!).
When replacing the MAF, I would suggest to disconnect the air duct leading to the throttle body and intake plenum. Clean that, as well as the throttle body and plenum. You will be surprised by the amount of dirt, sand, and residual oil inside there causing misfires and the car's "limp mode." The P0102 code (MAF) is more than just the MAF. Additionally, your white smoke would indicate that your Air Oil Separator (AOS) could possibly need replacement. Once again, if there is excessive residual oil in the plenum, it can be the AOS as well. Regards. *I currently own a 99 2.5L Boxster*
Thanks for this, I watched your video and was able to change the horn retaining ring. I have a 3 spoke wheel but it's very similar. Thanks for posting this.
Have you tried disconnecting the MAF and driving without it? With mine the O2 sensors are dead again and I can't bother replacing them, so I disconnected the MAF and the car is now on default settings and drives and idles fine (as long as I don't put the AC).
Don't spend $100 on a Bluetooth OBDII sensor, I bought one from Amazon for $20 4 years ago, no problems. Also, I recommend the Torque app for Android to connect to it. I don't know if there is an iOS version.
A) you're off roading probably didn't help the MAF sensor from the extra dust and dirt. B.) before you spent money on a new one, you should of tried cleaning it first with contact cleaner! 😔
Why not? Wheeler Dealers is great fun. He's obviously not a mechanic, so that makes this a little more interesting. It doesn't really seem like the goal of this project is to resell at a profit. I'm kind of hoping they just keep it and make mods as time goes on.
Here is how to fix the horn on a Porsche. Remove it from the Porsche, fit it on a GOOD car. Porsche, an ugly little squashed Beetle on steroids. Boo !!! 👻 .

The original horn was epic. I would've kept it. :)
I don't get the hate, it's a fun project thats motive is "Why not"..
wait, two horns?? they going for a certain note or loudness or just like to be difficult?
Hey Tommy, good job.
Why not just change the rubber bushings?
LOL
Did you try just cleaning the MAF with MAF cleaner?
Great video thanks !

Where is the horn fuse? I know where the relay is but I can't find info on the horn fuse
The car has some big issues...the horn is broken. oh and it doesn't run. lol
Where did you buy the horn and horn ring?
As soon as I saw "baja Boxster" I was all done here.
This car is going to be a bottomless money pit... 😅
You Giv'er Tommy !!
cool but I really thought you guys would've gotten some sort of SUV or truck to fix & make aftermarket off-roading beast .
MAF just needs cleaning and you should clean with CRC brand MAF cleaner
need more jeep vids!!
Isn't this episode 3?
That's the airbag retaining frame, not a horn ring.
, where in the world is the relay box I have 01
Instead of getting a $100 replacement part you could have just got a couple o-rings for 50 cents and put them on top of the worn out bushings
Should fix the other horn too!
Rip & tear
The horn are kaputt 😂
someones a fan of wheeler dealers....
