  • The Global Pass
Inspired by the Olympic Torch journey, ‘The Global Pass’ is the brainchild of Rugbeians, Toby Marsh and Matthew Hodder-Williams, both SH 88 - 93.
The pair came up with the original idea as a way of involving as many of the global Rugbeian community in as many different countries as possible as part of our 450th Anniversary celebrations.
The Global Pass features a Gilbert rugby ball fitted with a GPS tracking device. The ball made its debut on the 450th Anniversary launch date of January 9 when it began its journey around the world where it will be passed 450 times. Passed in phases, the ball will travel to various locations around the world, including sites relevant to the School and its history.
Countries currently earmarked for passes include England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Italy, France, UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and the USA. Designated Rugbeians in each of these countries volunteered to plan the logistics, location selection, media engagement, recording the event as stills or video, and organising mini events as the ball passes through. If you are a Rugbeian or parent living in one of these countries and would like to join them, then please email Tracey Ahmet, Rugbeian Society Executive Assistant.
The ball will end its global journey on 27 September, 2017 returning to the School during the Community Day celebrations.
