  • In this video I take a nursery stock Blue Star Juniper that I bought from Mosaic Home and Garden a few months ago and begin its journey as a bonsai tree. I do some minor root work and a fair amount of branch pruning.

      Thanks! I hope I have better luck with this juniper than my last two. One of the last ones died, and the other one we’ll find out in spring if it is still alive! 🤣

    Nice work on this tree. Spring will help bring out the beauty in it. I am glad of your positive attitude in pruning your little creation.

      Thank you! I don’t have a lot of experience with junipers, but I’m excited to learn more about their quirks. Thanks I try to keep a positive attitude in hobbies as well in life! We only have a limited amount of time on this planet … so we might as well enjoy it while we are here! 😃

    I started one of my own last year. Turned one into a triple trunk. Enjoy the journey. Best of luck with this Blue Star!

      Oh nice! I don’t have a lot of experience with junipers, I’ve been watching a lot of videos trying to learn as much as I can about them. Nigel Saunders has some great videos talking about his. How often do you branch prune and root yours? I’m hoping I didn’t prune to much off mine here!

    How strange! Only this very afternoon I was pruning and styling a Blue Star Juniper that I had been growing on after my wife discarded it as a hopeless case! After seeing it she now wants it back!

      Oh what a coincidence!! Good luck with yours, hopefully you get to keep yours! 🤣😀

    You could give it a wire , now it’s still flexibel . 🤔

    • @dreamingofbonsai
      @dreamingofbonsai  6 месяцев назад

      True. I have very limited experience wiring so far. 99 percent of my bonsai journey has been clip and grow. But that may change this year.
