There shouldn’t be a cut off, and the cut off point for claiming is far too low, new state pension is just over £3.00 over the pension credit limit. Pensioners were already going to continue getting the triple lock! It’s just another cop out for this pathetic government.
By the way, few pensioners will be getting an increase of £1000 per year. So that is another tall tale. The basic state pension is far too low to allow an increase of that amount.

Example : Pensioners deprived of one off winter payment of £300 per Annum. MPs awarded heating payments of £350 plus per Month. Just one example of enriching those with the most and punishing those with the least...how do they sleep at night?
I feel so sorry y for this lady, along with many more in this country. Rachel Reeves should hold her head in shame as the very next day she put in for £4,400 for her fuel allowance? Is she on pension credit? I don't think so !! She then put in yet another claim on her expenses for her "second home" Yes, a second home, but this time for £10,800 for her council tax again why has she got a need for a second home when she has 11 Downing Street where she has all the energy she wants for free!! She also has a great mp pension to look forward too. This woman and all the others on that front bench should try and live on a basic state pension! And not that gold plate pension they will all be picking up,and they won't need to wait until 70, if you are a male your pension statement tells you your retirement age is 65. Bet they are glad they are not Waspi born😊 promised they would sort it but like everything else another lie!!!
If her heating is only on 13 it wouldn't cost £41 surely. Some of this is scare-mongering. I bring in the same amount as the state pension and last week my combined fuel came to £80 for the one week (£65 for gas and £15 for electricity) and my average food bill is £23 per week. There was still something left over, it must be awful when the only income is universal credit. I'm not worried because I know my bills won't be this high when the weather improves. I am angry at the cruel way the withdrawal of the fuel allowance was brought in, no advice, no preparation. I really hope this lady does get pension credit. I just worry that people are starting to feel they can't afford heating when they can. Edit: it has been in the news that this lady has now been found eligible for pension credit!!! Wonderful. Someone made a cynical comment in relation to this that the elderly would rather complain than apply for the benefits. Maybe that's a bit harsh, but I seriously think that the news people would prefer to report how cold the elderly are because it's a good story to them, rather then keep passing on the message to apply for pension credit or that there are people managing on low incomes.
The UK is the only place energy has been going up on price year on year like clockwork, even with 100% renewable energy it doesn’t make sense, the wind farms are in place and will be depreciating as an asset so electricity should be getting cheaper as time goes by no more expensive, we’re being conned
That is the issue it shouldn’t be a demographic divide. Everyone is being conned with these energy prices, whether you are a pensioner, have a young family, are a single parent.
Labour government keep saying the triple lock will help us with heating allowance if you are on the old pension which a large numbers of pensioners are does not cover rising fuel prices should bring our pensions up to match then not such a struggle

I only get 4.00 more than those on pension credit top up and they took winter fuel payment off me. Sometimes i wish i hadnt bothered to work because it seems those who havent worked gets more help than me.
What so that they will pay the bill with your money?
And they won't be too ashamed to claim for there heating bill on their secnd home neither will they!.
13 degrees is far too low to heat any house .😊
So sad for the elderly
I bet the illegal immigrants are warm and cosy !
Oh yes gotta look after them it's their human right...when is that same human right going to be afforded to us!
Ironic that attention again is on immigrants instead of the politicians reminds me of a time when was it ? Oh yes the Nazis same strategy different era.
You can’t blame the immigrants for this. This is the government cutting off payments to the pensioners. It isn’t even new either. They keep kicking the pensioners. The UK is no place for the old
Starmer don’t care his house is nice and warm racheal reeves don’t care her house is nice and warm what a world we live in now shameful
@@Laugh-till-u-cry what’s the point of working all your life then getting to 70’s and freezing while we live in a world where OUR heating money is dished out to boat people?

@@carolynwestlake7670 so do you think they care
I’m sure they lose sleep over pensioners being cold
They wouldn’t of took the winter fuel payment from them if they cared
There shouldn’t be a cut off, and the cut off point for claiming is far too low, new state pension is just over £3.00 over the pension credit limit. Pensioners were already going to continue getting the triple lock! It’s just another cop out for this pathetic government.
My house is also 13 degrees
I’ve lost the heating allowance also
Never used the oven for 3 years
I’ll leave it there
By the way, few pensioners will be getting an increase of £1000 per year. So that is another tall tale. The basic state pension is far too low to allow an increase of that amount.
@@patriciamoffat1542 they get 400 which is more than enough

Mps need to take a pay cut and stop heating the government offices before taking from pensioners. Labour Will not get the vote next time.
What is given, will eventually ne taken away.
Meanwhile immigrants are put up in hotels, I bet they don’t have to pay for their heating!!!
Yes they do actually... The pay for the hotel room so the heating included.
@ no they don’t, the hotel rooms are paid for by the tax payers!!
@ no they don’t, they come here off the boats and are put up in the hotels at cost to the tax payer!!
@@MothKeeperwhat do they pay it with , they haven’t any money, it’s our money they are given

A very wise man, Mahatma Gandhi said,"the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats it's most vulnerable members". How do you think this Labour government measures up ?
Example : Pensioners deprived of one off winter payment of £300 per Annum. MPs awarded heating payments of £350 plus per Month. Just one example of enriching those with the most and punishing those with the least...how do they sleep at night?
This government will be definitely out in 4.5 years time . No-one will forget what they have done to the pensioners
heating is set to come on at 15c.....to save pipe/boiler from freezing
You could actually set it for 4 degrees and save even more money.
Ballsey is laughing his head off.
Taxpayers pay for his heat via his wife!
This woman and all the others on that front bench should try and live on a basic state
pension! And not that gold plate pension they will all be picking up,and they won't need to wait until 70, if you are a male your pension statement tells you your retirement age is 65.
Bet they are glad they are not Waspi born😊 promised they would sort it but like everything else another lie!!!
@@JohnMason-r8g yes practice what you preach comes to mind doesn’t it.? These mps really should try it for themselves for a winter…
Everyone is being conned with these energy prices, whether you are a pensioner, have a young family, are a single parent.
im freezing
@@lenniespider yes Lennie…

500m + to overseas farmers. This lack o fiscal intelligence is disgusting! The gov have the money but have chosen, made a political choice, to give billions to overseas. Im a single mom and i only put my heating on for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour at night, and im still topping up my smart meter at least £20 a week , thats causing me to freeze all day and cut back on groceries , im working part time from home so no warm office to go to.
Simple solution any pensioner with income on pension plus private pension over 20k don't get pension credit, any below get it SET A REASONABLE LEVEL OF INCOME THAT WOULDN'T BE TOO DIFFICULT
But what about the pensioners with a private pension worth £20,001?
It would cost more to hire the staff to check this out than it would just to pay all senior citizens (don't like the term Pensioners)
WFP should go to all non or lower rate taxpayers. That would be fair.
What they don't appear to realise is that because they are retired it follows that they will be home all day so the heating needs to be on all day unlike people who are working that can regulate their heating to switch off and then come on shortly before they arrive home.
Labour Government is disgusting to take away Winter Fuel Payment from the Pensioners. We need a new party in government. Reform UK could be the answer.

Here's some advice I'm puzzled why it's not obvious. If you're cold turn the heating up until you're comfortable. Comfortable. When the bills come in if it's a struggle to pay phone your provider up and explain your predicament. They'll ask you what you can afford and they will almost certainly agree to a payment plan. They won't cut you off if you show willing to comply. They won't cut you off. Pay what you can afford. It's that simple.
