Nice stereo, My old man paid over a thousand dollars for a Grundig majestic back in about 1963, We had it in the house till the day the house sold in 2003. It was about three times the size of yours. Had three sliding doors across the front, The top was solid and did not open,The center was a TV [black and white] The right side had the stereo w graphic equalizer and below that was a turntable, The left side had a reel to reel tape player and storage area for albums and tapes, Across the bottom of the set was about eight speakers. I have never seen another like it since.
I have a similar one I want to install a new turntable and Bluetooth/digital stuff in, but I do love the glow of the radio. I'll have to hook that into the new system. The original Majestic turntable in mine was made in England and the rest from West Germany. I think they were all like that. Thanks!
I have a lot of Grundig radios and these are my favorite tube radios. I also have some big Saba radios (Freiburg...), But I really like the grundig sound. I'm busy repairing a grundig 6099 which is very particular with the 5 fm preselections and complicated mechanism.
@@ArthurJS123 I discovered that my 6099 on/off switch is broken. It's on constantly. I'll have to plug a switch and make it accessible from the back panel... But otherwise it sounds great ! Deep (too deep actually) basses and a plethora of sound sculpting buttons. Amazing radio...
i found a 7038 by a friend here, it has reel to reel recorder and a second separate loudspeaker with his furniture, same style. not stereo i would say.
are parts for the original still available? I am wondering if this thing is worth restoring. I would probably sell it cheap. I dont know. Im conflicted.@@ArthurJS123
@@carytgooch2088 you’re not going to “make money” if you’re intent is to Restore and flip. They are plentiful, and not highly collected. Just do it for the enjoyment of it.
Wow Arthur that is a beaut!! I like that they went so far as to make sure the wood grain pieces matched up on the front too!! 9 tubes? Have you messed with multisonic eq. Yet or the others? The mute button does that make the signal come through flat? Thanks for showing-- Lis
Michele Haro The actual value on these is not what you’d expect, as the market on consoles is a small, niche one. Before I bought this, I saw the very same model sell on eBay for $500. Which is not to say that is what its value is, rather, that’s what someone was willing to spend on one.
Hello - can you show video of the inside of the back? Where does your door spring attach? I have the 7038 from 1957 and the spring fell off the door. I do not know where to put it back. The door is not closing properly because of this problem.
That is one beautiful machine, well done for giving it a longer lease of life, gorgeous sound that you only get with vintage equipment.
Have this same model at my parents, had it since I can remember, I have always liked the look of it.
It’s a beautiful piece. And beautiful sounding as well!

I have this model. It needs repair
. Can you help?
No, unfortunately. You’ll need someone local to you who works on vintage electronics.
what is the price of that radio?
It’s not for sale.
