The Kroot are an interesting example of parallel evolution to the Tyranids as they are two different species that use the DNA of their prey species to get better adaptions to survive in this hostile galaxy, but the difference is that the Kroot are a individual minded race while the Tyranids are a hive mind race.
It's always been a hunch of mine that the Kroot were actually involved in the War in Heaven, as just one of the many genetic warrior weapons of the Old Ones.
@@Lowlyking2001 Not necessarily. Look at the Orks. They've been struggling to return to their genetic roots of the Krork, ever since the Enslaver Plague. It's also been said that the Kroot used to be more technologically advanced (hence Warspheres), but have either lost the majority of their tech, or shunned it due to past misteps.
Too easy. To cite Earth as an example, the earliest lifeforms on Earth would literally absorb the genetics of their prey. In this way, they were able to "evolve". While life on Earth certainly evolved away from needing or using the genetic material of their prey, the Kroot never lost this ability. Thus, any species they preyed upon with compatible DNA, they could assimilate by eating it. This is not the same as the Tyranids who actively and intelligently analyze and recombine DNA to make additions and modifications to their bioforms, much as The Borg simply analyze and reconfigure and adjust their systems to adapt, to new challenges and prey. The Tyranids are not slave to the particularities off their physiology able to pick and choose and correct errors, at will. Meanwhile, the Kroot have to be careful what they eat. In this way the Tyranids show they are more an artificial lifeform than the Kroot being natural if obviously alien to the Human biological experience.
The Tyranids are to the Kroot what the Necrons are to the Mechanicus, a grim reminder of what they could become if they go too far. It’s possible that, in whatever galaxy they came from, the Tyranids began as something similar to the Kroot, but never had shapers to guide their evolution.
Those new Kroot models look amazing! Perfect timing with the video Balders, perfect way to start the weekend. I hope the Kroot models are successful so that we get more Tau aligned exons like the Vespids.

You gotta check out Thaddus and Cronan...🤯 prepare to be entertained on a top tier 40k story that is more than worthy of being lore or cannon at the least, and with Cronan... grab an extra pair of underwear because you might piss your panties laughing 😮

I came into warhammer 40k and didn’t like the close minded approach of the Imperium of Man, then I got to see what Xenos were really like. And I now know why the phrase ‘Suffer not the Alien to live’ is spoken as a holy cant. Best video on the Kroot out there!:)
To be fair, the Imperium did xenocide a lot of peaceful Star Wars and Star Trek style minor species. But then again a lot of minor xenos are just as fucked up as the Orks etc
I can't help but feel that the Kroot understand the realities of the setting better than the Tau themselves, but the Tau view the Kroot as useful savages, and so don't value their input as much as they should.
The kroot are one of the species that draws me to the tau. I plan on building mostly a carnivore squad of kroot with the various forms the kroot tend to take.

It's why this is my favourite 40k channel. Instead of 'oh, it's dark, it's depressing, you shouldn't play it if you don't like what I like about it', it's 'you're playing a game where you get to make cool stories for the little plastic people you've lovingly painted. Enjoy it!' And I love that. The sheer enthusiasm and support for players new and old is wonderful.

You're definitely right about 2000AD, even down to some of Moore's aesthetics trickling in.

But seriously, the Kroot are another form of oppressive society, but you can see the potential for some of them to wise up and strike out on their own path. And of course, they are individuals, even if they have a cult of sacrifice rivaling the Imperial Guard.
