I was lucky enough to be at this gig. The first song was packed up to the sound stage, by the last song the whole hill was filled. I shit you not, this was a headline crowd at around 2 in the afternoon. I've seen nothing like it before at a festival... Never looked back since, seen them at Bristol, Newport, Brixton to name a few and they never fail to deliver! Brixton was the day after the French club shooting, you could feel the nerves just around London in general but as soon as Skindred got on stage the heckles were up, anybody entering that venue with poor intentions would be face down... Amazing gig, amazing people, amazing band!! If you've not seen them live yet, do it right now... book a ticket, grab a beer and enjoy!
Sykesee this is my favourite moment from any gig I've ever been to. I was also at the Brixton gig the day after the incident in France. Never felt so many people being so on edge before a gig in my entire life but as soon as Skindred started we could feel the power and tore the place up in honour. Peace, love, unity
Hi, I'm currently working on a feature for Metal Hammer magazine on Download - we're looking to speak to someone who saw this set at Download (and has pics of themselves at that year's festival where possible) - would you be up for a chat?
@@RichHobson I've got pics of myself and son who was in attendance with me at Download Festival that year we moshed away yo system of a Down/ linkin park wrapped it up on Sunday night amazing weekend had by all get in touch with me ASAP rich I'll have a chat with you geezer
Skindred are just one of those bands that just never fail to give me a wide smile from ear to ear. Just pure unadulterated live fun from the first minute to the last.
seen them i think 6 times, and man they are just so powerful live. in my head they are one of the most intense live bands there is. benji really knows how to work a whole crowd
Tbh I'd even go so far as to say that they sound even better live- I really enjoy the added grit when they're live but that could just be the adrenaline from the live performance... Just saw them last night so I'm still buzzing.... 😎
At the time I was here, I didn't really know any of skindred's songs, but they were definitely in my top 3 bands I saw at download that weekend, absolutely epic. I am somewhere in that enormous crowd!
two o'clock in the afternoon pulling a headline crowd, couldn't believe when I turned to see the hill full. So fucking funny too! Just can't beat a bit of Skindred!
I had heard this song once and thought "I should give them a listen". Was here, when I got home I listened to everything they'd done to that point. One of, if not, the best live performances I've seen in person.
THIS IS LUNCH TIME AT DOWNLOAD!! Just managed to get my lazy ass up in time for the first song, but look at this crowd!!! That is a headline crowd, go back and check the time they were on! The hill is full.... People, please spread the word of Skindred, we're getting there but we need a bigger push!
I’m going to download this year and we all thought limp biskit was filling that empty slot. I’d never heard of skindred but now I’m really looking forward to seeing them live
Yeah the newport helicopter is a fairly recent thing, I saw them at sonisphere in 2010 and it wasn't a thing then. They were so amazing still though :D
I had just seen an Instagram post of dance monkey being played and the caption said they have never seen so much energy at a concert before and it triggered me so hard i had to come to this video to calm myself down
Hmmmm, I went to the first night of the Union Black tour (best gig ever!) and they didn't do it then so they must have picked it up somewhere along the tour lol still this was fecking awesome at Download :D
mad that this got them popular, also mad that they never once in the interview mentioned Need for speed underground 2, because that song put them to the masses

Fast forward to 2023 these lads have a number 2 uk album and a sold out uk tour...
The mighty dred!!
Saw em on it at Leeds 02. It was nuts.
Just here from lifers to see what a Newport helicopter is
Finally, a band who can sound as good live as they do on a well-produced album. Given their style, that's a challenge too.
Tbh I'd even go so far as to say that they sound even better live- I really enjoy the added grit when they're live but that could just be the adrenaline from the live performance... Just saw them last night so I'm still buzzing.... 😎

Saw this at my first download, was lucky enough to be there this year.... They need to headline main stage!!
I’m going to download this year and we all thought limp biskit was filling that empty slot. I’d never heard of skindred but now I’m really looking forward to seeing them live
