  • This video has been kept basic, to try and help you with basic fault diagnostics. The 1.8t 20v engine has a few variances, but essentially they all use the same setup, in different ways, with a few changes.

    You're a f**king legend.
    Simply by explaining the PCV section, you directed me to finding a diagram and eventually diagnosing a fault in my system. My Vacuum Solenoid Valve (Purge valve) was split apart!

    Thank you very much. Very well done! I love mine with all of its 100 meters of hoses down there. Slowly changing them all with EPDM hoses. I was tempted by shiny silicone ones but turns out those aren't as good for water cooling system use after a quick material comparison. Just a note for everybody thinking about it. Go for it for air hoses but don't for hoses which will carry hot water. Cheers!

    Great video.
    I have just bought a Audi TT roadster with APX engine. I appreciate your video for better understanding engine bay. Really helpfull for my project on this car.
    I noticed it has oil leaks. I desassembled intake mainfold to check pcv valve and hoses. The hose that goes from pcv to intake mainfold was totally broken and all area was full of oil. I tried to clean all the area and I will install new pcv valve and hoses as soon as I receive them.
    I wonder if you know how may I check PRV valve ( Not PCV); mine is 06A 129 101 (without letter). It is expensive and no aftermarket. Although It is easy and cheap to buy 06A 129 101A or D , I have been informed that they are not compatible with 06A 129 101. Hope you will be able to tell me how to test this PRV valve so that I may be sure the complete system is working properly.
    Thanks and best regards from the basque country!!

      Hi, clean the throttle body, re-set it. If that doesn't fix it, clean(with iso alcohol) or replace MAF or both. If neither fix works, take it to a VAG pro. Can be one of the hoses, fuel lines, so many things. :D

    The real drawback of the N249 delete is that the N249 opens the piston of the diverter valve (DV) under medium throttle when there is no boost.
    This allows air to go from the air filter directly into the intake without having to bypass the relatively high restriction of the turbocharger, which won't be making any boost at all and mostly just standing 'in the way' of the air.
    This happens when the engine RPM is ~2000 or lower (the rpm varies a little depending on if you have the 150, 180, 225 bhp turbo engine). This in turn gives you better throttle response and power delivery when you are running in N/A mode, so basically most normal daily driving.
    You can hear this working particularly well IF you have a metal turbo intake pipe AND relocate the dump-valve to be directly in-front of the throttle body... on a cold engine in particular you can hear the air flow change suddenly at 2000rpm on the BAM engine as the N249 it closes the DV. With the 180bhp 1.8T it happens lower down, around 1700rpm.
    The drawback of keeping the N249 is that the system is prone to going bad. It can be the N249. it can be a vacuum line. It can be the vacuum storage. It can be all of the above. An aging DV can also cause latent issues as well (sticking due to dirt, sluggish, worn spring,...). So overall, with these engines now being older, an N249 delete will often make for a 'smoother' engine, but it will be less powerful in NA mode, less responsive in NA mode and you will get high boost spikes just as the throttle closes (which a working N249 mitigates as it pre-opens the DV).
    The N75 is just to be treated as a consumable. Change it when you change your tires (tongue-in-cheek, I know...). I've had a few Audis and the N75 is just a not built for long life.

    • @BWSTT
      @BWSTT  4 года назад

      From what I've read and understood, the function of the DV opening on partial throttle isn't actually utilised on the me7.5 ecu
