Their label always threw out the songs that showed more vocals and packed more punch for safe top 40 trends :/ and I don't think it is bad to chase top 40! It's a shame to see these scrapped songs go to waste tho.
They were still under the same label with Camila and she had just started her solo career. Their label had to sabotage them to make it look like Camila was the only one carrying the group.

Epic literally set them up for failiure by scrapping all the amazing songs. They knew that they would blow up and they didn't want that for the girls which is horrible. This song is literally better than every song off of self titled. I understand that fans want them to get back together, but in my opinion if they did, it would be way too forced and meaningless, near the announcement of the hiatus, they clearly were so disinterested. The only forseeable way i see 5h getting back together is under a completely new sound and vibe that they collectively like as a GROUP. not just random songs being forces on them by their label. It needs to be a vibe that showcases the girls talents, just like this song i.e. Lauren's high register, normanies raspy voice, allys amazing range and dinahs beautiful mix register.

After listening to this since the full version leaked, I think this would've made so much more sense being the lead single than Down. After Mila left they let their name as Fifth Harmony, stating that the fifth part of the group were harmonizers themselves. Knowing that, although the lyrics of Better With You can easily be interpreted as finding a lover in the club, I believe it can also be seen as them losing hope and almost giving up on their career as a group, but choosing to continue after being aware of the support their fans always gave them. I mean, I like Down but it's WFH 2.0, there were way better songs even in the released version of the album (queens Lonely Night and Make You Mad are saying hi)
