My first engine rebuild in 1966. I learned soooo much from this gem, white metal bearings and all. Converted the big ends to shell bags. Made a big difference. If only I’d converted the vacuum wipers to electric! 😂

I had a customer at my Auto Electrical workshop here in NSW Australia he had a 351cu (5.8 litre v8) in his MK2 Escort. He had to wear almost sock like footwear due to the lack of footwell.

Hi James I'm sorry the steering box was sold quite a while ago . But to be totally honest the rack and pinion set up works brilliantly and no comparison. We purchased the whole conversion kit from alachi 57 web site . The owner knows his stuff on these cars . We will hopefully get a chance to update the video in the new year.

I've never understood the appeal of rims with tires that are 3-4 sizes too narrow for the rim? The sidewall sloping at nearly 45 degrees... does this enhance performance? Not trying to be a jerk. Honestly don't understand. I love the car and everything you've done to it.

Appalling Music ? At least I think it was music? Why not let the film and the car speak for themselves?

Hi Chad to be honest the tyre set up is a European thing . In the UK you can't have any tread showing outside the wheel arch . So basically I have a wide rim and tuck the tyre under the arch .

Knew a Guy here in Canada put a 283 GM Chev motor in one of those his was a panel Van . had subs and cage , went like a bat out of hell.
My choice would be a Ford Cortina GT engine not the 283 V8.....................nice job guys............I am doing up a Austin Countryman A40 1951

I had a Datsun pickup with a 283 and a Ford rear end . I put a 2.3 in a VW bus once . Worked really well and had 2 heaters that worked.

The music is awful, I have difficulty reading on-screen text, so I think the audio could be put to better use; By you telling us what's happening, with your voice!!! However, I love Ford 100E, I had a 100E van (Ford Thames 5cwt) in the late 1970s. I was planning on inserting Ford Zodiac Mk3 (from the same era) engine with driveline (110hp instead of the 34 from the flathead four), the engine was a straight-six of 2553cc (bored to closer to 2.6l, as it needed a rebuild). The gearbox was a Borg Warner 35 Automatic 3-speed. The front crossmember & suspension (Brakes etc.) was from a big Vauxhall from about the same era, so the running gear should've easily managed the lighter van. I ended up not finishing it as rust was a serious problem, however I did some less ambitious projects as I matured.

Hi Andy I found your Ford Pop modifications very interesting, I could only find this post are you going to do a vid of it finished and how it drives. I own a few old cars and the reason I watched your vid was a friend of my partners is in the midst of buying a Ford of this type and its a friend of mine selling it. I am in the middle and her deal seems ok but the only issue was the steering, and as she knows nothing about cars I don't want to do her wrong, so to get to the point since you fitted Rack and pinion do you still have your steering box, was it in reasonable condition and are you interested in selling it. Many Thanks James

Hi yes it's a 205 pinto .since the video it's been fully rebuilt and rebored 2.1 with twin 45s and high lift cam . Still a way to go on the upper body

Hi Andy, when the pinto needed a rebuild would a modern bmw engine been a cheaper option and having german build quality as well or did you want to keep it all ford?
