Contrary to what some in the media claim, legal immigration is perfectly fine, but sneaking in isn't fine.
Being orginally from south Texas, the US border crisis is dangerous and just horrible.
All of those that enter illegally should be arrested and deported immediately.
We welcome people to come here, if they use the proper channels and are truly willing to assimilate to our country.
As Americans.... we don't fear anything.
This video does a poor job of describing the difference between nominal GDP and GDP at PPP. The bottom line: Because there are 1.4 billion people in China, per capita figures, whether nominal or at PPP, are quite low. (And, the Chinese economy is hurting with the collapse in the housing market, an abnormal 30% of its GDP.)
The thing about Canada’s geography is that so much of it is basically uninhabited and unusable. It might as well be categorized as a sideways Chile in practical terms.
This is actually a great comparison because I think it’s around 90% of their population is settled along the southern line of the country that borders the US
You might be very surprised by how large the Great Lakes that divide much of the US and Canada are. My son's Russian Grandma was shocked. They're basically freshwater seas. Also, part of Michigan can only be reached by water or driving to Canada first.
Even knowing their size intellectually, they're still rather a shock the first time you visit one. The thing is that it looks like the ocean, has waves like the ocean, has sandy beaches like the ocean...but the smell is all wrong! It smells like a lake! It's incredibly off-putting the first time you experience it, if you are accustomed to ocean beaches. Smell is such a weirdly visceral, non-verbal, wired-direct-to-memory sense for most people that the unexpected mismatch in odor really hits *hard* somehow.
I'm from the US and have traveled to Canada...but i live in Maine...so its kinda right there

Immigration is fine as long as it's done legally. Many of us have a lot of respect for those who go through the process to become US citizens because we know it isn't easy, so someone has to really believe in the "American dream" to put in that effort, and it is safe to assume that they will put that same effort into being an upstanding and productive member of society. When someone crosses the border illegally, it shows (In my opinion) that they are willing to break laws to get what they want. If they want what the US has to offer, rise up and fight for change in your own country or go through the legal process of becoming a citizen.
Having an open border invites danger eventually. That is a fact. Most of the people who are PRO open borders don't leave their front door open for any stranger to waltz in from the street. I think their hearts are in the right place, but they are a bit naive and/or hypocrites. You should see their reactions when the bus drops off immigrants in their neighborhoods. "Yes! They should come to the US...wait... I didn't mean here where I live!" They're 100% fine with it as long as it's someone else's burden.
To respond to one of the non-controversial questions, Alaska was a very fun place to visit, especially as someone from Illinois. Illinois is very flat, and Alaska is pretty much a mountain in every direction. I went in June and it was quite a nice temperature, didn't get too warm but wasn't cold. Lots of hiking and views and that is pretty much it, so don't go if you're expecting any sort of museums to check out.
I welcome anyone to come here,however the ones that do it by unlawfully entering our country needs to be shipped directly back to thier own,not trying to be mean about it,but it hurts those that are doing it the legal way🙂
I live north of Detroit, Michigan USA. It is around a 20-30 minute drive south to get into Windsor, Ontario Canada.
As an American I've lived in 4States and I've been to 37 of the States, plus Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Spain, France, Holland and Saudi Arabia
To go from Boston to Miami its about the same distance as a trip from Moscow to Monaco.

Focus on this…..the ENTIRE CONTINENT OF EUROPE IS 1.035% the size of just the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. It is vary slightly larger than the USA. Just look at an atlas or a map. Most American citizens spend vacations traveling here in the states as there is so much to see right here. When I got my passport back in the 1970s, the only countries which known to like Americans and were very friendly were ITALY AND SPAIN that is where I went
Going to Canada is a blast. The drive is nice from KY. I stick to car travel if I can, the Montreal airport in Quebec is as bad as New wark 😭😭
Legal Immigration is great! Undocumented immigration is a real problem especially if we want to expand our social services. You have to choose one. You cants have an unlimited growing population and unlimited expanding social services. I would prefer limited migration and an expansion of the social safety net.
So a big think about US healthcare that other countries dog on which makes me angry is that we are #1 on the WHI in every section by A LOT, but last in affordability. We produce around 86% of all advancements in pharmaceuticals, medical tech, diagnostics etc. and because of a stupid treaty we share all of that information free of charge with Europe and several other countries around the world. R&D is a huge part of that and since other countries don’t help shoulder the burden, US citizens have to pay for the advancements and the failures it took to get there. US citizens basically shoulder the costs of the rest of the world and people are too stupid to thank us for it, instead criticizing it. I would love free healthcare but since we spend more on research than the next 15 countries combined and that would have to stop without a free market system, advancements would either stall out, or the rest of the worlds healthcare would take a massive dip in quality of free services to compensate. There’s a reason people travel from around the world to get treatment for potentially terminal illnesses, because are survival rate is the highest by far. It would be nice if citizens of other countries could do some research and say thank you. There have been studies on what happens to the global medical community if the US turns to full state run healthcare and it’s not pretty for everyone else even if it is for us. It’s ironic since Americans are always the ones accused of being uneducated.
I live in the New York Metro area, in suburban New Jersey (Bergen County). In many of the more northern towns in the county the houses are very large and sit on half acres or more of property. If you didn't know you probably would not believe you are in the NYC Metro area of 18 million people. Even in the southern part of the county most homes have nice size front and back yards. The traffic is the only thing that is indicative of being in the Metro area.
American bases are the only reason oceanic trade is free in the pacific and south East Asian seas. Like seriously.
In terms of geographical size comparisons with the UK, Lake Michigan (one of the five “Great Lakes”) is about 494km (307mi) north to south, and and 190km (118mi) at its widest point. That’s roughly the distance from the Bristol, England to Edinburgh, Scotland (north to south) and Liverpool to Grimsby (east to west)!!

Here's an interesting fact : EVERY US state, even the smallest state, Rhode Island, is bigger and has more people than some European countries. Rhode Island is larger than Luxembourg and has 1 1/2 times as many people. Beyond that, RI has twice the population of Malta and three times the population of Iceland.

Wow!!! You invited some really controversial, political arguments with several of your questions that are culture war topics (what do you think about immigration in the US, do you think the US should spend more on the military - what a shitshow that could've become in the comments, lol) and they could have easily gotten nasty, but I'm glad it's stayed civil! Comments on other reactors on their channels would've turned into a mess very quickly.
3:15 Australia and Canada might be the most popular places for British people since they are British commonwealths, but Germany and Turkey make sense. Turkey especially since they've had a lot of refugees come in from the middle east and are the gateway to Europe.
Health care in terms of skill level is extremely good. In the u s, you would feel very confident going into surgery here because The doctors and facilities are top notch BUT Health care and health insurance are ridiculously expensive. And far too many people avoid going to the doctor or hospital because of the ability to afford it, therefore not getting early Diagnosis or treatment of something that could have been prevented or cured. Most people who live paycheck to paycheck do not have insurance. If you have a decent job, typically your employer will pay for half of your insurance for you. And even if you are lucky enough to have insurance a lot of times insurance companies will fight trying to not cover things that you really need. Unfortunately, health care is a mess.

As an American it makes me proud that we have such a high immigration rate. Over 50 million people currently in the USA were born in another country, that nearly as much as the UK's entire population to put that in perspective.
We have always been a welcoming country as an example, in 1883 a New-York resident wrote a poem about the statue of liberty that would later be added to the monument as a plaque. an excerpt,
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Of course there have always been discrimination and violence because of this, but it has strengthened us as a people.
I am retired & an basic healthcare. Mine has been great with one serious occurrence. Now with another type of cancer & chemo or whatever else, I might have had to pay more. It is top notch care. Without any insurance. You better plan on the free clinics at the county level. Long waits, not always the top people. There have been some claims of bad care also. If you come, get travel health insurance. You will never be completely happy with any place you are.
Immigration from the rest of the world outside of the America’s has actually slowed in the last decade. If you’re in Europe, Africa or Asia and you’re thinking about coming here DO IT! 90% of us welcome immigrants from anywhere and we need as much diversity in people coming as possible. I live in Philadelphia, a 'sanctuary city' (a location that refuses to illegally detain undocumented residents- no person is "illegal", that is a propaganda word of isolationist conservatives), and the feeling of almost everyone I know here is that we are welcome to those people. We are a country made up of immigrants and descendants of immigrants, unless that person is 100% native american. Our culture and workforce are enriched by those immigrants and the Philly food scene is one of the best in the country because of all the authentic cuisines that are available... I think a lot of people here know their immigrant ancestors, so it is not lost on us that the immigration policy has become ridiculously constricted and our ancestors may not have been able to immigrate if they were in place. For example- my great-grandmother came from County Mayo, Ireland and my Great-Grandfather from Naples, Italy. When they arrived, they just had to sign their name to enter the country, today is a bunch of paperwork, time, and money that my impoverished great-grandparents would not have been able to do.
