- Excerpts from the CBS Morning Show with Jack Paar, from 1954. This reel was made for the sponsor, Monsanto, hence it being only in excerpt form. Here are the dates of the clips, as best as I can tell (what was written on the leader for some, newspaper research for the others).
1) 11/19/1954 - singer is Jack Haskell.
2) 11/8/1954
3) 11/16/1954
4) 12/16/1954
Enjoy!
Wonderful to see; missed it all when then available.
Paar was such a gentleman and a good improvisor
of the comedic as well as communication and ad-
vertisement bits. Each and every one of his Morn-
ing shows should be found and made available.
I've heard that "The Amazing Criswell" -- hands-
down ACE prognosticator of all that was to come,
also a was an occasional guest on Jack's show.
If you could find something of these, that would be
just cherry!
Carson had him on regularly. Cris made THE perfect
foil for his inimitable impromptu comedy, all loving it.
Thanks very much for your GREAT work in bringing
these Kine-scope rarities to the public's attention.
1) Peripatetic singer-actor Jack Haskell sings the last half of "Fanny." Paar says Julius LaRosa will be starting Monday (11/22/54, per the papers). Paar plugs toys made with Monsanto plastic and bids Eastern Time Zone viewers a good weekend...so it's Friday 11/19/54.
2) Chas. Collingwood gives the news over rear projection slides and films. Paar plugs the new Con-Tact plastic sheeting, then there's a bit with singer Betty Clooney (she doesn't sing), then music director Pupi Campo comes over to (try to) do magic tricks.
3) Sen. William Jenner (R-IN) reading statement in support of Sen. McCarthy, soon ro be censured. Collingwood wraps up news. Paar plugs Block City building set and visits with Betty.
4) Paar plugs Xmas table decorations of Monsanto plastic, then calls out Bob the "high-strung cameraman."
Incredible, thank you so much for sharing this gem
