When people talk to me about evanescence, they often mention songs like my immortal and bring me to life. and great as they are, there is so much more to this band than the most known ones. songs like this one, as well as lies, away from me, cloud nine and many more are just as good. I love this song, the open door is such a great album
Fun Fact: Lacrymosa was originally written for Narnia but the team of Narnia thought it's too dark hence Evanescence included it in The Open Door album! Thank you Evanescence for giving us this Masterpiece!
People who don't like Evanescence are people who have only heard Bring Me To Life and/or My Immortal and define the band solely by those songs which they shouldn't. But in doing so, they've not even scraped the surface of Evanescence's musical prowess, and they have no idea how truly beautiful and wonderful this music is. It's a damn shame that this band doesn't get the respect that it so deserves.
This song makes me want to drive through the darkest, foggiest highway surrounded by trees late at night like in a creepy horror movie or something. Love this song!
Evanescence has such a unique sound with the Gothic, haunting sound of Amy's beautiful voice, guitars that you can rock to, orchestral strings, and choirs. it's beautiful and something that can't be replicated. (I know they used Mozart, but they have the stuff mentioned above in their other songs)
I love how rock/metal matchs with classical songs, even this last one musical genre is Its inspiration, I made a cover: ruclips.net/video/JQwZgXhUzMo/видео.html
Lacrymosa is my favorite piece by Mozart. And you have to admit that Evanescence did a fantastic job keeping the same dark and haunting feel that the original has. I absolutely love this song!
There isnt "One art form is better than the other." Its all based on opinions. One mastered version isnt better than another mastered version if they are both masterpieces
Well, Mozart did have quite the boyish fondness for poop, so I guess he would like this shit... Just kidding, Evanescence is amazing. I just had to say it xD
One of my (marching) band's songs that we are playing is this. It's a condensed version with a singing duet. I got the lead part! Band camp starts tomorrow! Wish me luck!
This was one of my favorite albums a few years ago, and I didn't listen to it to fantasize about suicide or mull over how much I'm misunderstood or... whatever. Amy Lee is a genuinely gifted musician with a gorgeous voice, this band discusses the darker aspect in all of us, and although my musical tastes have evolved since then, I still love this music.
Cavaille Stepanova see, what you just described is a cop-out for shitty parenting. It’s not actually a thing, no matter what stupid thing people believe. It all has to do with the environment in which kids are exposed. Parents don’t understand the emotional turmoil they put their kids through and so they blame everything else. Rock music, then metal, now video games. It’s the same excuse, just different objects. The fact that you bought into that excuse would be hilarious if it weren’t pathetic and reflective of your possibly toxic parenting style.
Cavaille Stepanova while I definitely agree with the band’s artistry, think about how you said fantasizing about suicide like an idiot. No one actually listens to this kind of music to fantasize about suicide. That’s idiotic. People are already suicidal because their environment is toxic and they want a way out. Music itself is incapable of doing that. People, however, are capable of change but absolutely refuse. See, that’s the difference between a smart person and an imbecile. I sincerely hope you didn’t reproduce or adopt because your gullibility is astounding.

I just heard the original mozart version and I'm very proud how true this is to the original. Very rare for updated versions be a good rendering of the old.
Okay. The only reason I started listening to the Evanescence is when the first song I listened to was "Bring me to life", and I had listened to it since 2013 and it was on radio. Also it was my favorite song.
This is such an interesting version of Mozart's Lacrimosa from his Requiem Mass in D Minor. It's incredibly haunting. Evanescence has successfully (in my opinion) created a modern version of a classical piece composed hundreds of years ago.
I love this cover, it's such an inventive and original take on Mozart's song. Obviously Mozart deserves more credit than evanescence for this, but that doesn't mean they didn't do a bloody good job, especially for a such a huge risk.
That is a brilliant analysis of his reaction and I totally agree, just allow me to add that he gasps for air, and screams "Witchcraft!" before falling over. I am assuming that is what he would think if he saw synthesizers, electric guitars, amplifiers, or an electric piano. LOL Reply
I think he would love having all kinds of new instruments to write for. Even if he thought it was witchcraft he would probably think it wonderful witchcraft.
This is one of my favorite songs by them, and I was actually just binging on classical music when I bumped into Mozart's Requiem, and I recognized the music!!! I was so stoked!
this song gives me an image in my head of a dance ball in olden days and everyone are looking like skeletons and are all in black and they dance and Amy Lee is all in white and they are all looking on her and she feels weird

Together again is the song that got rejected from narnia
and Tarnia is way darkest than this..Its so bolshie..
The song you're thinking of is "Snow White Queen"
That's crazy I always imagined a Narnia music video in my head when I listen to Snow White Queen.
She truly did Mozart some justice. She stayed true to the original melody and kept some of the original Latin vocals as background. Amazing!
This is a rape and butchery of Mozart.
I know a lot of people don't like Evanescence, but honestly if Mozart came back today and heard this he'd be more than impressed. It's a great homage.
Especially the Sythesis version, which is out on 2017!

Her lyrics and singing goes really well with Mozart
If she adds a little bit of opera or symphonic metal to her vocals It could sounds better, I made a cover:
