I actually stitch the wrong way round to everyone else. Come up at the top left and down to the right. Hence I always start in the bottom left of a chart. Self taught at the age of eighteen , and as we read left to right. It was a way of remembering which way to keep all my crosses facing the same way x
People make their crosses in all kinds of ways...there's definitely no wrong way to do it! And I definitely prefer when all the crosses face the same way 😄 I think the way you do your crosses when you work from left to right and upwards you would indeed be 'using the empty hole' 😄
There are many of us who stitch with our top thread crossing this way, from bottom left to top right. We read from left to right, and my right -handed cursive writing slants towards the right, so this is the direction that seems most natural to me. Which ever way we stitch, consistency is the key.

Sadly I'm now addicted and this may av a detrimental effect on my health ... went bed at 2am and loved the empty hole method so much I did 3 extra rows on my grass 🤣🤣🤣 oh dear but it's ok I'll get away with it x that's for this tutorial and pervious one x
I never plan very far ahead during stitching so I get stuck where I have to go up above a row. If I want to use the empty hole then I just go backwards on the opposite end. Top right to bottom left then come back going top left to bottom right. The crosses are all laying the same so I figure its A win,.
I also try to stitch in your method. May I just suggest that when you are showing these techniques, you use much bigger count fabric?Even „magnified“ your hand was continually moving along with the fabric and then it became a blur.
Thanks so much for your feedback. It's incredibly difficult to balance being sufficiently zoomed in whilst not having any shakiness or blur. If I'm not zoomed in (magnified) enough it's not visible but if I'm very zoomed in then the camera trying to maintain focus can occasionally cause a bit of shaking or blur. It's a lot harder than it looks! I did give that fabric count some thought and chose 14 count to try to make the stitches as visible as possible but I could look into trying 11 count. It isn't something most stitchers would use but could be good just for the tutorials. I hope you'll continue to enjoy the videos 😄
