Well, luckily, this is one of rare cases of utility spell getting buffed in newer games. In DS3 it has a lot of range and a huge variety of enemies to charm. I remember having a lot of fun in my only pyro challenge run with it(before oneshotting everything with vestiges)
Yes! Actually if you want to farm the Gertrude's Knights on top of the archives in DS3, Undead Rapport is your best option! They will fight each other and you can finish the last one standing alone! So many fun memoryes of going aroung with hidden body and Spook and using undead rapport on strong kinghts and watch them demolish theyr troops! I'm really glad they improved this shitty DS1 version...
Extremely powerful in DS3, some undead areas, you can just charm the strongest dude and layback while he does most of the job. Also very funny when someone invades you, and the Lothric Knights stomp them to death 😂
Undead rapport made me realize just how much damage most enemies do compared to their actual health. You don't tend to notice it as a player since you generally have more hp than the chaf + potentially great armor, and also rolling around, but as soon as a charmed enemy fight another enemy they often get 1-3 shot
In DS3, I'd use the Dry Fingers at the Wall of Lothric to be invaded and used this spell on the first Mimic. I'd let the Mimic fight the Invader for me while I buffed and healed it.
Best use is being on NG+7 and using it on the big Hollow at the church in Upper Burg when someone invades you at low level. They think they're fine running in to whoop up on you when they get slapped for all their HP.
Dark Souls is so good, after all these years, and all the content.. it still doesn't get old, there is always something new. This is just crazy how good the Souls games are.
I actually never used this spell but i love this type of niche "support" spells in these games, even though they are often a bit clunkier to use than one-shotting everything with somethig busted lol Nice video btw, keep it up!
This video is missing a 30 minute mad rant about an esoteric edge case use of this spell that breaks the game and reveals a flaw in the depths of the human soul
I've rarely seen a channel with 400 subs having such well-edited videos with such polished narration. Subbed; hope to see more quality videos in the future!
Shit was so useless they didn't even bother to bring it back to ds2, only to remember it existed and make it actually pretty useful on ds3 The Undead Rapport redemption story
3:53 AYYYYY NO SHOT BALDUR KNIGHT PARRIED BRO 💀☠ nahhh the riposte is wild I haven't had that happen since the days dark souls went free with gold on xbox 360... (when I first tried it) wild work and funny asf
as a full sorcerer in my playthru, undead rapport was really nice. its not only charm a dude to fight for you. they stop attacking you while charmed. helps a lot while traversing places full of one-hit-kill-sorcerers-that-prioritize-INT-over-anything-else enemies. in DS2 there was no rapport, but there was a spell to attract multiple enemies to a point (yearn) and they would only try to attack it, hitting each other in the process. really OP and yearn would never come back in a dark souls series.
Based on the trailers of shadow of the erdtree, I really wanted Romina's rotten butterfly incantation to be an AoE mass rapport spell. At least it would have probably had more utility than it ended up being.
I just did my first pyro playthrough amd didn't realize Quelana was there until after bed of Chaos. However, was also my first all boss run killing Manus and Kalameet solo with havel armor and lifehunt scythe
Not only Dark Souls 3 'Rapport' I used very often is helpful utility in co-op and random friendly summoning. Still odd list on who can be Rapport'ed and not. But you can certainly feel yourself 'powerful' when charmed like Fire Demon from The Catacombs to go fight every mob there while ignoring you; charm one of two Corvian Knights in the chapel to kill the other there (or even better, lure one to help against Sir Vilhelm); or Millwood Knight Archer on top of the root to have shooting match against the other one below the frozen lake. Extremely effective in Lothric Castle and Painted World DLC - both are late-game areas with powerful difficult mobs.
This video made me realize that Dark souls pvp players have no creativity because they could do fun stuff like this instead of boring “honorable duels”
In ds3 I equipped symbol of avarice, shield of want, mendicants staff, and cssr+3 and use rapport to make the gilded winged knights on top of the grand archives kill each other for my souls.
this spell's REALLY good in DS3. you can use it to charm most of the Millwood Knights so they become passive and let you kill them easily. (You can also charm the Followers and they go a little nuts)
Well, it's nice they brought the idea back in ER, and with considerably better execution! (They might have brought it back in one of the other games I guess, but I do not remember.)
I think this is just another of the many weapons in souls games that min-maxed its funny factor. Farron GS from DS3, un-upgraded Sabimaru from Sekiro, golden butt slam from Elden Ring, Butcher's Knife from DS2, and many more join it amongst the ranks of fun (but impractical) weapons/spells in souls games. I'd even call it a noob trap if any noobs knew to buy it from Quelana off the cuff.
There is another way to get Quelanna to appear, but I forget it. I have never had a +10 flame n she appeared for me on my first playthrough. Hell if I know what I did, but she was there. Useless to me, but there none the less.
This was fairly useful in ashes of ariandel, in the sidepath with the tower sniper. Charm one of the big guys and he'd run right up the tower and kill the sniper for you
The most fun/use I've had for rapport was in DS3. Late game, had a Lothric Knight fight an early-game mimic: Poor thing got stomped, but at least I had fun watching.
you could probably get some silly one-shots by going to NG+6 on a low level character & hanging in undead burg. If you can somehow charm an enemy safely & have an invader approach within 30 seconds, that is
Yes, but, have you ever used it on a red phantom (gravelord) Berenike Knight? That thing will annihilate unfortunate enough to be upright and breathing. Especially good when someone invades you in the Parish. Ah, memories memories.
I’ve played through this game a few times, but I always end up either playing as a mage or pure melee, so Ive never actually done a pyromancy play through.
You don't necessarily have to get a +10 Pyromancy Flame yourself. You can also make her appear by having someone with a +10 Flame enter your world as a summon or invader. You can also use it on the undead in the Catacombs and Tomb of the Giants. Combine it with Hush/Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring and Ring of Fog, then sneak up behind a Beast Skeleton or Giant Skeleton. Fun times commense.
2:40 This has always been totally false. I have no idea what the secret trigger is, but she has appeared to me multiple times in my non-pyromancy playthroughs. There is some other trigger that can make her appear, but no one seems to have determined it, and none of the wikis know either.
maybe could find some niche use in a randomizer run. if you got a blighttown fatty or a giant in an area with lots of annoying enemies it could pop off
