  • In this video, we cover how to inspect and apply your conformal coating via the spray method to the PCB (printed circuit board). In addition, we walk you through the different types of conformal coating.

When doing the coating using Ctsr-12 , I noticed there is microbubble appear on my pcba. What can be done to remove that microbubble ? I already follow method of spray in this video.

hi, just wondering if I can use any of ur product to conformal coat a laptop motherboard. Im a bit worrying about those controlled impedance traces for high speed signal. Will conformal coating affect this?

I work in conformal coating. Why do you want to coat your laptop motherboard? Conformal coating is used to protect the board in moisture, low or high temperature environments. Most pcb's that are coated are for formula one cars, oil rigs, helicopters, etc. Therefore I do not think it would be necessary to conformal coat the motherboard for your laptop. However it would give the pcb extra protection if you like to take your laptop outside. But the laptop body more than likely seals and keeps the pcb protected anyway. If your laptop got wet then the usb and all the connections on the body of the laptop would more than likely break before the pcb motherboard inside the laptop.
Also when applying conformal coating, its not as straight forward as you may think. Boards need to be baked before coating to get any moisture out of the board otherwise moisture will get under the coating and the coating can peel or crack. Any connectors or switches, LEDS, must not be coated. Also PCB's must be in a ESD protected environment and properly extracted (ventilated) and would need a UV light.
Just realised this was two years ago lol. Did you ever coat your pcb motherboard in the end?

@@kieranodonnell5271 how about coating a graphic card ? moister inside gpu causes so much faulty cards for my experience. is this would be a solution ?

@@csgogodz5266 hi, umm graphics cards are inside the pc and covered. The pc will be in a house or office environment.
Does the graphics card really have failures because of moisture? How is moisture getting inside and onto the graphics?

@@csgogodz5266 if you are serious about coating your graphics card then you need to do some research and find put what coating you want to use, because there are loads of different types. Coating will serve its purpose and keep moisture out

@@kieranodonnell5271 indeed if not used for several week moisture can cause inside a chip and when it restart with power could cause we called "thermal shock" and it happended offen the case for gpu artifacts and solution would be reballing the gpu chip.

is that just a regular tray that was used to hold the PCBA?

He just sprayed right over those edge pins! Board will no longer make connection with socket.

Lol.. maybe you should include: Don't spray open DIP sockets without protecting the holes. Because that's exactly what you didn't. Why no UV-cured urethane coating? "Weeks" is not an acceptable curing time.
