I'll always remember you as the drummer with a permanent smile on his face. Incredible solo played by an even more incredible person. Rest in peace Dom 👼
Dom, what made you great wasnt your playing, your chops, your creativity or your smile...It was your Authenticity. You were the most true to yourself and authentic person to ever ambassador the drums... Will miiss you greatly. If any family or friends read this, I send you my deepest condolences, love and positive energy..
I met him at a drum clinic with Les DeMerle and Carmine Appice around '84 at Club Bene in N.J. Great guy and so happy to give advice to me...rest in peace, Dom ! 🙏
I used to show my drum students Dom Famularo solos in lessons, they were always stunned an "old guy" could play that well. Talent knows no age, I would tell them. Rest in peace Dom
I met Don at a clinic in the early eighties. He opened for Billy Cobham. We were amazed at his playing. RIP Don. Your inspiration was second to none. Thank you.
RIP Dom, a drummer so awesome that when he drops a stick, another one materializes in his hand before the other one hits the floor. Seriously, he will be missed.
Dom was the true pioneer, who (inadvertently) proved that ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) could effectively be incorporated into ones drumming! Dom will surely be missed! 😥
Impresionante lo fui a ver hace 30 años en la sala vas Ferreira junto a el batero de Phil collin y dos más tito... argentino y el ex de Mister bug creo
He hit himself upside the face with the stick on a right hand downstroke and knocked those glasses clean off. I'll bet when he found them and picked them up they were too damaged to put back on.
I saw Dom do a double bill clinic with Billy Cobham 42 years ago. Dom was in my opinion starting to make Cobham look boring, if you can believe that. He did a solo based on a standard half time 16th note funk groove between snare and hi hat, it featured the extreme dynamic swings from raging 32nd note flurries all over the kit, back to soft tight taps on snare/hi hat, but with rhythmic continuity and control that he does not have here. He ended it with the exquisitely orchestrated and expressive soft side stick stuff on the cymbals, but again it had tight control and made clear rhythmic sense, not just giddy wanking. I was waiting for what he was doing here to be just part of the solo but it ended up being the whole thing.
This is an edited version of a longer solo. If you can't grasp the musicality and musicianship here, alongside his passion, I feel sorry for you. The guy was an absolute Monster player. I saw it in person countless times.

Never seen someone who could play so gently and then hit so quickly and hard like Dom. What a legend. Rest in peace sir.
Quite possibly one of the most exciting drum solos I've ever heard. R.I.P. Dom 🖤🖤

NOT NORMAL...
Drummer or clown?
It's not clear as to what he's trying to accomplish. Very annoying approach to the drum set.

really?
@@stevelaporta5791 IKR? Half these guys can't play a note but this display of mastery is somehow beneath them 🤣
I’m sorry was he not in the pocket?
