I got it working on my gear S3 frontier today. What I love is I can control all of my lights through google home and my Nest thermostat and turn my nest cameras on and off using my watch now. Thanks for the post. FYI I'm using it on two phones, a Pixel 2 on android 10 and LG G6 rooted running android Pie Pixel experience rom with Aug security patch.
I just picked up a Galaxy watch and downloaded my Gear S3 backup onto the Galaxy watch, it worked perfectly on the Galaxy watch without having to redo anything; it works on both the S3 and Galaxy watch. Thanks for this tutorial!
For those of you guys getting the error for device configuration here's the answer: 1 Retry the whole precess one more time. 2 make sure the account on the Google icloud is the same as the watch one! That's it! Working like a a charm!!!
AWESOME!!!! I was able to follow all these steps directly from my note10+ and it works perfect! It allowed me to locate the file on the phone, directed me to copy the code and paste it to the appropriate page from the download and I did it all from the phone!! I know you suggested from the laptop, however it did work from the phone too! It’s amazingly fast!!! Lol. I was NOT expecting it to work as fast as it does!! THANK YOU!!!
You're a life saver :-) Great clear instructions, thank you very much. Bixby just pales into insignificance compared Google Assistant. Using Galaxy Watch | Galaxy S10. I would never have bought the Samsung Watch if I couldn't get Google Assistant on it. Loving it.
Just picked up my Galaxy Watch (46mm) today and installed Google Assistant with this method... took a little bit of time (maybe 15 minutes) to get everything created, installed, and running, but works like a charm, good work on the video... just follow it step by step!
I did tv and limited devices - and then it goes thru the whole oauth2 sequence and says "authentication successful, credentials saved" but "failed to configure device"
Maybe Google have changed something, like they deleted the "other" option. You could maybe try again from start with a new account. I cannot help you further, but you can contact Google's chat service or email. Good luck!

Confirmed as working on the Gear S3 Frontier... thanks a bunch man. I had listed to sell the S3 solely to have google assistant run on my watch and was going to buy a watch that runs Wear OS... this will TOTALLY do for now... listing removed!
@@Huntmx24 yes... Just tested again since you asked. You have to be mindful that the phone tends to put the GAssist.net in sleep mode, so make sure you exclude it. Also, sometimes after a restart the GAssist.net app doesn't start on its own. So you just have to run it to get it going again. Hope this helps.
I got this working on my Samsung Galaxy LTE, setup was a little different from the youtube guide but with common sense I figured it out. app works well and as described. To the maker of this well done. it is of course a shame although understandable why Samsung themselves don't offer this, but as Bixby is crap and Ask google is the benchmark for Android users, it is nice that we can be offered a work-around. Again thank you for this app! P.s. The LTE doesn't seem to support the app in standalone mode, so this has to be paired to the phone as far as I can see
Thank you so much for the video, just installed on my Active 2. The Google Cloud Platform Console has been updated a bit since you posted this so you can't follow these instructions exactly step by step, but after watching a few times I was able to figure out how to get to the correct pages in the console just fine.
I think this app and watch app along with the Google assistant API are the best thing to happen to Samsung galaxy watches. The watch was still good even before this app, but now it makes the watch the perfect smart watch on the market. I've no regrets buying this watch over say WearOS or Apple watch.
You can't have it compose a message or have it call a specific person though. Also, since you been running it for a while. The persistent GAassist notification, does it drain phone battery or watch battery?
@@carlos53k agreed it can't do a few things, like make phone calls or ask Google to WhatsApp someone, but it can do everything else. Control your smartthings, smart home, tell you anything you like. No it doesn't drain battery on phone or watch.

I have zero knowledge of what I just did but I followed the directions and got it done so I have the assistant on my watch. I had to rewind and relisten a few times because he goes super fast and I had to get a free trial of the "cloud" in the middle but I did it! Thank you!

@@cztm754 After further investigation, i had the Media/System volume down set to 0. figured that out 5 minutes ago. You are correct, thanks for letting me know. I'm still stressing about whether I want to get the newer watch or not due to MST, so I was over-thinking that decision while trying this on my s3 frontier. It's a shame they didn't keep mst on the galaxy watch :(
I was a skeptical of this to be honest. but I am so glad I went out of my way top try it. The process is not difficult. and once its done it works out great. definitley missing some features but the core assistant is present.
I've got a gear S3 and doesn't work for me I've got Samsung s8 with Android pie and my software for the watch is 4.0.0.4 and I live in the UK could you give me any tips, much appreciated, the listen button is greyed out so it doesn't work the app on my phone is working as it says gassitnet running

I love it, u know apple watches have siri but now my gear s3 has g assistant. It took me a while, like 30 min. Or so, but now i have the google assistant, and its even dutch and with all my own account settings. 1 word A M A Z I N G Its just like the normal google assistant. Its not a scam orso or a virus, its all a bit sketchy but if it works, you are soooo happy

Galaxy Watch works like a Charm-- Note for even faster install you can download the file to google drive ( do everything on your phone instead of connecting to your MAC or PC)

Good job, but how to put the assistant in another language (french). On the phone assistant is in french but after restarting the watch, it doesn't work, assistant stay in english.

Doesn't seem so but from another video i saw, it looks like you can bind it to your double press home key which is usually bixby. Flick down > Go to settings > Advanced > Change double press home key to GAssist.net instead of bixby Might not be the perfect work-around but it should be a bit easier than having to dig through your apps to find it
Hi, I loved the google setup wizard samsung watch video. As you explained I was able to install the application and configure it, it is working perfectly. But I would like a tip if possible to change the language to Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR), because it is working in English. Just to confirm on my phone, google assistant is set to the default language for Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR). Thank you
It doesn't. You need to open the app, you can set it up to listen the moment you open it or tap to listen after you open it, you can also set up continuous listening so you don't need to press the button, after you open it. It's quite good. Have on Galaxy Watch Active 2. I will say though, that the hated Bixby is much improved and to be honest I use it more as we have a lot of smart devices in the home so it's absolutely perfect for controlling tv, air conditioning, washing machines, alarms, audio, tv, lighting etc. But it's still not as good as Google for general web searches. So I keep both. Bixby of course opens with voice command. One thing though, previously neither Google nor Bixby could understand my wife's name, which is a bit different as it is all vowels. However, since the update Bixby now can recognise her name if I'm calling her on the watch or phone, but Google still cannot get it right! Lol.
Sorry you couldn't keep up, I felt I was keeping a good pace but in the future I'll slow it down even more. By the end do you mean where you have to just follow the prompts from within the GAssist application?

Great video and instructions on getting Google Assistant on a Samsung watch. It was easy and fast to get it up and running. However, I have one issue with it; I have to be paired to my phone for it to work? I would prefer it to work without my phone since I am running an LTE model. I do see the convenience using Google Assistant even when it's paired to the phone. Push a button on my wrist and ask the question. But I would like it work without the need for the phone so that I can use it when I'm away from my phone. Just my opinion and preference. Beyond that, great job on getting GA on a Samsung watch!
Worked with my Galaxy S8 & S3 Frontier. However Gassist doesn’t manage timers which is my most frequent use of SVoice. So I didn’t bind it to the double-click; I’ll have to go through menus to get to Google Assistant for now and hope for an update to add timer support.

@@RobvanderPijll Even dubbel checken dat je op je tel, op je pc en op je horloge dezelfde google account gebruikt. Volgens mij had ik het ook 1x. 2e keer werkte het wel. (even app opnieuw op tel, dubbel; check of je alle stappen in Google netjes hebt gevolgd etc)
It's great! One complaint is that anytime I ask something personal for example, what is my name, it says you need to give me permission, which I'm pretty sure it has because if I do the same thing on my google home or phone it says it. One small thing that I can live without but otherwise I love it!

@@jbpark0126 The only suggestion I have is to try the steps again. I did have to perform the authentication step (4:10 - 4:24 in the video) with the API code twice after the first attempt failed. This was due to a bad copy and paste with the API code.

I just performed a successful linking of this on my S3 Frontier, this is really cool.

2- you don't need a pc , I just did it on my phone.

When you get to the application type, there is no option for ''others''. Select "tv and limited devices". Worked for me. Thank you for the video.

Does it drain your battery. I have a notification that is consistent and says GAassist is running. Can't swipe it away which also bothers me.

I successfully installed it on my Samsung Galaxy S3 Frontier right from my phone. No PC needed.
Please how did you install it on gears s3 frontier? I have the same watch and I have been having issues installing cos I have a imac and I dont know how to connect my watch to my imac
@@Connect04 do the instructions in the video to the letter on your cell phone. Android. Be sure you have the app installed on both devices before you start.

Good job, but how to put the assistant in another language (french).
On the phone assistant is in french but after restarting the watch, it doesn't work, assistant stay in english.
Try opening that secrets.json file in notepad and see if there is any language option.

Is there a way to enable it to listen by voice activation like saying "hey Google"?
Doesn't seem so but from another video i saw, it looks like you can bind it to your double press home key which is usually bixby.
Flick down > Go to settings > Advanced > Change double press home key to GAssist.net instead of bixby
Might not be the perfect work-around but it should be a bit easier than having to dig through your apps to find it
@@Ulfie_ It's the first thing I've done is to take and replace bixby from that button for Google ;)
These voice commands require a special microphone, which the galaxy watch doesn't have.
Hi, I loved the google setup wizard samsung watch video. As you explained I was able to install the application and configure it, it is working perfectly.
But I would like a tip if possible to change the language to Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR), because it is working in English.
Just to confirm on my phone, google assistant is set to the default language for Brazilian Portuguese (PT-BR).

I just tried something for fun. I asked Bixby on my Galaxy Watch to open Google Assistant......but it just opened it on my phone. Lol!!

Ye imagine having the whole google database on your watch lol. Ofc it needs to be connected to network for answering the questions :-)

It doesn't. You need to open the app, you can set it up to listen the moment you open it or tap to listen after you open it, you can also set up continuous listening so you don't need to press the button, after you open it. It's quite good. Have on Galaxy Watch Active 2. I will say though, that the hated Bixby is much improved and to be honest I use it more as we have a lot of smart devices in the home so it's absolutely perfect for controlling tv, air conditioning, washing machines, alarms, audio, tv, lighting etc. But it's still not as good as Google for general web searches. So I keep both. Bixby of course opens with voice command. One thing though, previously neither Google nor Bixby could understand my wife's name, which is a bit different as it is all vowels. However, since the update Bixby now can recognise her name if I'm calling her on the watch or phone, but Google still cannot get it right! Lol.

Great video and instructions on getting Google Assistant on a Samsung watch. It was easy and fast to get it up and running. However, I have one issue with it; I have to be paired to my phone for it to work? I would prefer it to work without my phone since I am running an LTE model. I do see the convenience using Google Assistant even when it's paired to the phone. Push a button on my wrist and ask the question. But I would like it work without the need for the phone so that I can use it when I'm away from my phone. Just my opinion and preference. Beyond that, great job on getting GA on a Samsung watch!
Did it on my phone. Works with GW. Only concerns are privacy so I turn off permissions for storage and location on phone app. Still works well so far.
This really works great. it was very easy to follow and very fast to be able to access all the potential from the watch. I have a Gear S3 Frontier.

Works faster on my Samsung then on my Fossil Sport.
Worked with my Galaxy S8 & S3 Frontier. However Gassist doesn’t manage timers which is my most frequent use of SVoice. So I didn’t bind it to the double-click; I’ll have to go through menus to get to Google Assistant for now and hope for an update to add timer support.

Net al een extra toetsenbord moeten kopen omdat ook spraak naar text als reactie op whatsapp niet in het NL wordt ondersteund. Is er een instelling die jij hebt veranderd mischien? of is de Gear S3 gewoon nieuwer?
Bij mij doorloopt ie de laatste stap niet 'failed to configure device'. Heb jij enig idee wat ik nog moet aanpassen om het werkende te krijgen?
@@RobvanderPijll Even dubbel checken dat je op je tel, op je pc en op je horloge dezelfde google account gebruikt. Volgens mij had ik het ook 1x. 2e keer werkte het wel. (even app opnieuw op tel, dubbel; check of je alle stappen in Google netjes hebt gevolgd etc)
It's great! One complaint is that anytime I ask something personal for example, what is my name, it says you need to give me permission, which I'm pretty sure it has because if I do the same thing on my google home or phone it says it. One small thing that I can live without but otherwise I love it!

@@jbpark0126 The only suggestion I have is to try the steps again. I did have to perform the authentication step (4:10 - 4:24 in the video) with the API code twice after the first attempt failed. This was due to a bad copy and paste with the API code.
