Thought maybe Meslier had a concussion first but it really was a bizarre bounce. Its a ping pong shot really once it bounces of Firpo. The spin is only visible once it hits the surface. One in a million shot.

I think it actually hits a divot, you can see a gouge in the pitch in the angle shown from 9:27. Seems like it might have changed the flight of the ball and took it out of his control, which would explain his immediate reaction.

Apparently he took a bang on the head a few minutes before. Will have to see it again. Basically did a Karius, which is not great for the player but, if true, if you know that, you should say something and get subbed immediately. At the very least it shows the risk of trying to play on with head injury; at worst it's fabricated excuse and unjustifiable.

He was done by the spin on the ball, watch the slow motion of it again and see the spin that was put on the ball and the sudden change in direction when it hits the turf, as a former keeper I have had this happen on Astro turf but it is so unusual for it to be done on grass, you need serious spin on the ball.

OF COURSE FIRPO SHOULD BE & MUST BE ANGRY...MESLIER MADE THAT HUGE MISTAKE BUT ALL BIG NAMES (GOOGLE, BBC, EFL, etc) RECORDED THAT AS FIRPO OWN GOAL...SUGGESTION : FROM NOW ON FIRPO ex BARCELONA & MESLIER ex unknown club CAN'T BE PLAYED SIMULTANEOUSLY ✍️

Don Goodmans hatred for Leeds does make me laugh, makes him sound very unprofessional, whether he hates the club or not.
Would have taken a draw before the game, just rubbish the way we got the result in the end with the mistake.
Sunderland best team Leeds have played this season by far, should be challenging based on that.

xG was dead even and the leeds first goal was offside. Either one could have won this and nobody would have thought much about it. Draw is pretty much the just result here, even if it came in a bizarre way at the end.

Why would fans leave the ground when your 2-1 down and match is not over? Talk about not having faith on your team. I can see it if they are 4-0 down but 2-1? Disgusting.

All the comments on here that the goal keeper is only human, reality the goal keeper has one job and that’s to keep the ball out of the net and he didn’t , that ball didn’t take an enormous deflection , he took his eye off of it

Meslier will be ok. Rothwell decent passing, another Gnonto assist of quality. The whippet Aaronson needs to read more than react if he wants to be truly 'fast'.
