- Hitting the keys on your keyboard or scolding your computer won't help. Here's the solution.
To not be able to update the blog page is one of the most common challenges in WordPress. A Google search for “can’t edit blog page” returns 678 000 000(!) results. Here’s the explanation to why you can’t edit your posts page - and how to fix it.
⚡ Here's the blog post mentioned in the video: divimundo.com/...
I will use Divi in this example, but the fast fix will work for any WordPress page builder, for example:
Elementor and Elementor Pro
WP Bakery
Gutenberg Blocks
Brizy Builder
Visual Composer
... and more.

This was definitely the cause of the issue that I was experiencing, but now I need to understand the making of a template aspect to get what I want.
OH MY GOD THIS IS THE VIDEO I'VE BEEN SEACRHING FOR HOURSSSSSSSSSS! really tho I'm almost crying, building my own website and don't have someone to ask. It's so frustrated and here you areeeee solving problems that have kept me in an endless cycle in JUST 2 MINUTES! subscribed!!!!
@@mihermione Great, I’m glad you sorted it out! 🙌☺️
I would just like to reach out to you and say a huge thank you for creating this video. For over two weeks now I had been trying to discover why the heck my blog page had stopped working as it should.. not even showing the featured image or anything. And today, after i said out loud that this would be the last time i tried to fix it, i searched a big well known search engine again, and your video was the first to come up! It hadn't been in my search results previously. Needless to say, it is all now sorted, thanks to you. I am beyond grateful. Jo x😁
Wow, I’m really glad it helped out! 🙂 This is for sure one of the more confusing parts of the WordPress experience. 😆
In my case with WordPress 5.8.3, my default was already set as
Settings > Reading > Posts Page = "- Select -"
So I had to select a SPECIFIC template (e.g. Posts Page = Blog) to be able to edit my BlogPost page, which was the opposite from your suggestion.
But thank you IMMENSELY for getting me to this point, as the solution really wasn't obvious.
I'm glad that it nudged you in the right direction! :-) Just out of curiosity, what theme do you use?
Thank you! I was checking blocks, customize, and Kadence, and WordPress articles. You're the first person I found to solve this. I hope not having a posts page selected doesn't affect SEO?
I'm glad to hear it helped! Nope, it will not affect SEO.
OMG one would think that posts page = blog page makes sense, but nooooo....
Thank you kind sir for this very easy fix!
I glad to here that it hepled! 🙂
Omg thank you so much I've been trying to figure this out and I couldn't until I found your video! Thank you so much! You saved my website 😀

Thanks allot i was struggling with this for way to long 😅
I’m glad that you finally found the solution! 😄
Great! I've seen many videos and couldn't get this resolved. Your video helped me atlast👍 thank you!
Cool, I'm glad you liked it! 😀
I've been dealing with this for 2 weeks. Divi support had me delete my theme, then today wanted me to create a new Menu page ( I wouldn't)... THIS was so extremely helpful, THANK YOU!
🤯🤯🤯 I’m glad that you found the solution here! 🙂
Thank you so much, Ive been adding margins and paddings like crazy and nothing changed, thanks!!!
Cool Rocío, I'm glad to hear it helped! 🙌

Thanks a lot man. Ive been struggling with this. Hope to resolve when i try.
You’re very welcome! Good luck 😊
I have been struggling all day - did as recommended but still no dice.
It could be a theme specific issue. Which theme do you use?
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed and couldn't find anywhere else.

Hi Jesse! It seems like your account has limited access. Click the User link (if you can access it) in your WordPress dashboard and check if you are an Administrator or if you have a lower user role, like Editor or Contributor.
many appreciations for this tips
Your very welcome! ☺️
I will check if it works on my WP, thanks

Hey I did what you said and made some changes to my blog page. After making I went to settings and made my blog page as the "posts page". Now, when i checked my blog page, it was same as before. None of the edits i made are seen.
That’s not the solution that I suggest in the video.
You just restore my joy. Nice one
Thanks Abijah, I’m glad it worked out! 😀
That worked. Thank you!
You’re very welcome ☺️
What if though you have posts already posted on the blog page as when you do this the blog posts don't show?
The posts are still there but you need to add a custom blog widget/block/module on your custom blog page to display them. Here's how to do it with Divi: ruclips.net/video/Nf64BptjWXE/видео.htmlsi=YPjKiNMraJlX3vVB
Thank you sooooo much!!!!
No problem! Glad to hear you learned something new. 😉
but if I do that where does my blog get uploaded, we have not chosen any page for the blogs to get uploaded
That depends on what theme/pagebuilder you are using. If you are using Divi, just insert a Blog Module on the page. Elementor has something called Posts Widget and Gutenberg has a Blog Posts Block.

This a great video but I am still stuck after going to settings and changing the option to select, I am able to edit the page (which is great!) but all the blog posts have disappeared, I wondered if you had any advice to help me fix this please? Many thanks
That depends on which page builder you are using. With Divi, you can add Blog module to the page. If you use Elementor, the widget is called Posts (I think). If you are using Gutenberg, you can add a Query Loop block.
Thank you! This worked for me.
That's awesome Tanya!
Is it possible to have a display photo beside the recent posts or comments?
If you use a page builder like Divi, you can design freely. If you can thingy it, you can build it. Here my tutorial on how to create a custom blog page with Divi: ruclips.net/video/Nf64BptjWXE/видео.htmlsi=zbkc5maHrG5ZW29K

Hi! I change the setting in the first place of the POSTS option but when I select default all my posts disappear and it shows a blank page when I change the setting and add a post page everything is there but can't edit pictures or anything. I am using Elementor.
Hi! Add a new page and insert an Elementor Posts widget. It will display all your posts. Now you can go ahead and style the page. Here’s a tutorial from Elementor: ruclips.net/video/HbHtFJ_51VY/видео.html
My blog post only shows the title and featured image but not the whole article
This might help:
1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard
2. Go to Settings » Reading
3. To the right of "For each post in a feed, inclue" and tick "Full text"
4. Click "Save Changes" and preview in frontend.
Let me know how it goes!
It did! Thanks so much!
Cool!
Thank you brother
Any time bro!
Great advice. Thank you!
Awesome, I’m glad that it helped! 🙂
So if I take it off as a "Posts Page", how will I be able to add my posts to that page?
That depends on what theme/pagebuilder you are using. If you are using Divi, just insert a Blog Module on the page. Elementor has something called Posts Widget and Gutenberg has a Blog Posts Block.

Hi, I need help. Im unable to edit the home page in WP. Using Divi theme, whenever I click edit on the home page. It will prompt 3 options, start building, browse layouts and choose page (clone). I have tried searching high and low online, exploring all the menus in WP but I still can't find the solution to it.
Hi Terry! Let me know if this helps: ruclips.net/video/zUJL4GDf8hE/видео.htmlsi=6A2eYTkzD2Y0KJMU
Then if we deselct the new post page as as a news/other page, How can we still make wordpress by default post the new posts on it. Because then everytime - Dont we have to do the settings manually
That depends on which theme or page builder you are using. With Divi, you can add Blog module to the page. If you use Elementor, the widget is called Posts (I think). My ‘blog’ doesn’t even show up under pages. When I view the blog on my website it’s uneditable and has a default ‘blog name’ at the top. It shows an actual blog post I made further down but yeah, it’s like this blog page is in the ether 😢 I can’t choose to edit in elementor. I remember easily building Wordpress sites about 7 years ago but I feel rusty as heck now.

@@DiviMundo I dumped my old theme and started from scratch with a simpler template but I’ll watch that video regardless, thanks!
Thanks. It helped
I'm glad to hear that! 🙂
thanks really useful
I'm glad you liked it! 🙂
how do you edit the page that a chosen blog creates. ?
That depends on which theme and page builder that you use. If you are using Divi, you can create a Blog template in the Theme Builder and add a blog module to it and then style it with the visual builder.
Thanks it helped 😍
I’m glad it helped Muhammad 🙂
But if we remove from static page to select its not a problem for the index?
For search engines? That shouldn’t be a problem.
Thank you so much
You're very welcome! 🙂
I am trying to edit post pages by category, not for every post in general. How can I do that? Thanks.
That depends on the theme and/or the page builder that you are using. Here's a tutorial on how to create a category template with Divi: ruclips.net/video/8LCnT-xrr6M/видео.html
My blog posts still appear under /homepage/postname instead of /homepage/blogs/postname. With blogs as the posts page in settings or empty it's the same. Why?
The answer comes about 6:30 into this video: ruclips.net/video/peWvXO0WvpE/видео.html
@@DiviMundo Thanks for your fast reply, and yes that video solved my issue! Liked and subscribed! Thanks a lot!
@@InnerHacking Awesome, I'm glad it helped! 🙂
In my situation, TD Composer is disabled on the Posts Page.
I haven’t tried TD Composer but they might use another method.
You are the best.
Truly good work!
Thanks! 🙂
I just tried this, and all it seemed to do is change my blog page into a normal page. Yes, I could edit it with Elementor now, but it has no content. I already had a page with the Elementor Posts widget as a temporary solution, but I want my posts page to inherit the posts layout, which has a sidebar that all posts inherit. Setting it as the blog page does that, but then I can't edit it, which I need to do because my main menu has white text in a transparent header, and the blog pages have a white background. Back to the drawing board.
You could either keep the blog page in the settings and create a blog page template in the Elementor Theme Builder. or r you can remove the blog page in the settings a build a custom blog page using the Elementor widgets.
Same. Very annoying.
Did you ever figure out how to fix this? I'm having the same issue. I can only get to my normal blog page by going through the theme but I still can't edit it
@@LorinTorresmake use of query loops to display the category of posts you need on that page

If you remove Blog from setting It does not see the "posts" you created. So the link goes missing. Unless you manually add shortcodes to link the posts. Your fix is NOT CORRECT
This fix works fine, as you can see in the video and in all the positive comments from people that have been helped by it. Perhaps you prefer another solution and that’s fine, but that’s something else then correct and incorrect.
This is rubbish. You simply just changed the posts page. Now permalinks and breadcrumbs will be a mess. The actual defined posts page needs to be edited.
Nope, this works fine. Change the permalink structure in Settings > Permalinks if needed. I have a tutorial on that here: ruclips.net/video/peWvXO0WvpE/видео.html
