It's a two-fold problem, since many people who lose trust in institutional authority seem to sometimes lose it across the board, rather than identifying what sort of institutions should be trusted more than others (historians and scientists vs corporate advertisers and government entities in the pocket of corporations). It's a case of throwing the baby (knowledge/data) out with the bathwater (information/content) the way many people do when they renounce their religion (going full atheist and throwing the spiritual baby out with the religious bathwater).

Plus, it was never "Trump's" and isn't "Biden's" America, it was always supposed to be "Our (We the People's)" America, but sadly we are no longer a Republic, nor were we ever very democratic... nor does it seem democracy will make its way into our economy in any meaningful way in terms of current trends.

Her type of mentality has been taught for decades (usually in American schools), but now the internet gives them their soap box to preach from. I remember one of my earliest memories in school (probably First Grade) was being called a nazi by a kid because I told them my mother was an immigrant from Germany, and that kid assumed that all Germans were nazis because that is what their parents told them. The kid kept calling me a nazi until I cried. It was actually such an issue apparently that the school called in that kid's parents the same day and they had a talk about it. That kid never talked to me again, he eventually trasfered schools and I haven't seen him since, over 15 years later.

I'm only speaking from what I've experienced and what friends from others states have told me. For reference the school I attended in my story was an Elementary School in Oregon. The school was shut down some odd years ago.

I appreciate the sentiment behind this; but I also see a degree of "danger" in it when it's applied on a mass scale. Many people believe that others are stupid just because they share different world views or disagree on some contentious points. The increased polarisation that's being seen in a number of western countries is at least partly due to less communication between people. Why do I need to argue/converse with an sjw? They're stupid. Many Italian (and Sicilian specifically) immigrants were discriminated against when they moved to the US for better lives. They were not allowed to label themselves as white in the 1800s. @@sztallone415 I know that type of comparison really only works when discussing travel and commute times and stuff. A 30min to 1 hour commute is actually pretty reasonable in a lot of the US. In more rural areas that could be considered very short. I mean 4 hours of driving for a basic day trip to a beach or lake isn't unreasonable. I'd imagine in most of Europe that would be a ridiculous amount of driving for a single day.

-publicly discrediting certain races and mindsets
-publicly discrediting intellectuals and their supporters
-knowingly spreading false claims to undermine the credibility of potential opponents
-spreading lies about an ongoing conspiracy and presenting him/herself as part of the solution

The last 15 years, I've visited Italy at least once a year, I really know each region of the country, I've seen the military everywhere, and they're always so nice and laidback (as most italians) that I really get how military presence in the street ain't comparable to an autoritarian force pressurizing the people.

That reminds me of a youtube guy in France who did a similar thing back in the 2010~, he ended up having 3 or 4 channels shut down, millions of people who hated him, and for some reason insulted gov' members (go a lawsuit against him for this).
